Hemsedal is a municipality in Viken county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Hallingdal. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Trøym. Hemsedal lies on the Norwegian National Road 52 (Rv 52). Hemsedal is located 220 km (136.70 mi) northwest of Oslo and 273 km (169.63 mi) from Bergen. In 1897, Hemsedal was separated from the municipality of Gol to become a municipality of its own.

Trøym is a village and the site of the administrative center of Hemsedal municipality in Buskerud county, Norway. Trøym is located in the traditional region of Hallingdal. It is situated on the Hemsila River which runs through the valley of Hemsdal to Gol where it joins the Hallingdalselva. Trøym is located on Norwegian National Road 52 (Rv52) (Gol-Hemsedal-Borlaug) which runs between the junction with Norwegian National Road 7 (RV7) at Gol to the junction with European route E16 near Borlaug in Sogn og Fjordane. Trøyma is situated about 200 km from Oslo and 270 km from Bergen.Hemsedal Church (Hemsedal kirke) dates from 1882. It is designed by architect, Johannes Henrik Nissen. It was constructed of wood and has 420 seats. Access to the site is via Rv52.

Rjukandefossen is a double waterfall of approximately 18 metres located in the vicinity of the village Tuv in the municipality of Hemsedal in Viken county, Norway.The Rjukandefoss receives water from Mørkedøla which is a catchment for much of the melting snow in the Hemsedal fell. A suspension bridge is located about 50–100 metres after the waterfall, which can be used to cross the river.
