Robert Service High School is a public high school in Anchorage, Alaska. It had an enrollment of 1,779 students as of August 2, 2016. Serving grades 9 through 12, the school was named for the poet Robert W. Service. Part of the Anchorage School District, the school opened in 1971 and was the last of four high schools built by the district (its lineal predecessor, the Anchorage Independent School District) within a decade. Service High originally operated as Service-Hanshew; as was the case common within Anchorage during that time, junior and senior high schools shared a single building. Included in the case with other junior-senior high schools in Anchorage, a separate structure was built to educate the junior student body and referred as Hanshew Middle School in the period of the 1980s oil glut. This is located approximately two miles west of Service along the Lake Otis Parkway. The school completed a partial renovation in 2005. The official school colors are green and gold, and its mascot is the cougar. Service High School's current principal is Allen Wardlaw.

South Anchorage High School is a public high school that serves grades 9-12 in Anchorage, Alaska, as well as students from neighboring Turnagain Arm communities of Girdwood and Indian. South Anchorage High School is part of the Anchorage School District, and opened in the fall of 2004. The official school colors of South are black and gold, and its mascot is the wolverine. As of November 25, 2016, the school had an enrollment of 1,459.

The Far North Bicentennial Park is the largest park in Anchorage, in U.S. state of Alaska, and has over 1 million annual visitors. The park contains the Hilltop Ski Area, the Alaska Botanical Garden, over 100 miles of multi-use trails, and access to Chugach State Park.In 2018 a rodeo cow escaped into the park. The cow has not been recovered but has been spotted by park visitors.

Hilltop Ski Area is a ski area in Anchorage, Alaska established in 1984. Located in Far North Bicentennial Park near Chugach State Park at the base of the Chugach Mountains, Hilltop Ski Area is owned and operated by Youth Exploring Adventure, Inc., an Anchorage nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established in 1979 to provide recreational programs for Anchorage youth.

KTZN (550 AM "Fox Sports 550 The Zone") is a commercial radio station licensed to serve Anchorage, Alaska. The station is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. Its studios are located at Dimond Center in Anchorage, and its transmitter is located off Dowling Road in Southeast Anchorage. It was an affiliate of ESPN Radio until June 24, 2023, when it switched to Fox Sports Radio.

KENI (650 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a news/talk format. Licensed to Anchorage, Alaska, United States, the station serves the south-central Alaska area. The station is currently owned by iHeartMedia, Inc.. Its studios are located at Dimond Center in Anchorage, and its transmitter is located off Dowling Road in Southeast Anchorage. KENI is a clear-channel, Class A, 50,000-watt station. The other Class A station on 650 AM is WSM in Nashville, Tennessee.

KGOT (101.3 FM) is a commercial radio station in Anchorage, Alaska. The station airs a Top 40 - CHR radio format and is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. Along with its sister stations, it broadcasts from studios on East Dimond Boulevard in the Dimond Center. It carries On Air with Ryan Seacrest in middays and American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest on Sundays. KGOT has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 26,000 watts as a Class C2 station. The transmitter is off Dowling Road near North Drive in Southeast Anchorage.

Rabbit Creek is one of several streams that flow through the city of Anchorage, Alaska. It runs for 15 miles from the Chugach Mountains to Turnagain Arm. Before English-speaking settlers arrived in Anchorage, the Dena'ina called the creek "Ggeh Betnu."
