Its headquarters is at Elm Springs in Columbia, Tennessee.: 29 In recent decades, governors, legislators, courts, corporations, and anti-racism activists have emphasized the increasingly controversial public display of Confederate symbols—especially after the 2014 Ferguson unrest, the 2015 Charleston church shooting, and the 2020 murder of George Floyd. SCV has responded with its coordinated display of larger and more prominent public displays of the battle flag, some in directly defiant counter-protest.

The depot was completed in 1905 by the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway (NC&StL) and the Louisville and Nashville Railroad (LN) as a union station. The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Maury County, Tennessee on October 23, 1986.

The Maury County Courthouse is a historic county courthouse building in Columbia, Tennessee, the county seat of Maury County. James Edwin Ruthven Carpenter Jr. was its architect. The courthouse is where Henry Choate was hanged in 1927 after being lynched. The courthouse was also a rallying place for white vigilante groups during violence in 1946. A new cupola was planned as part of renovations to the then 98-year-old courthouse in 1998. It has been the site of filming projects, including the music video for Jason Aldean's controversial "Try That in a Small Town".
