Holywell Priory

The Theatre was an Elizabethan playhouse in Shoreditch (in Curtain Road, part of the modern London Borough of Hackney), just outside the City of London. It was the first permanent theatre ever built in England. It was built in 1576 after the Red Lion, and the first successful one. Built by actor-manager James Burbage, near the family home in Holywell Street, The Theatre is considered the first theatre built in London for the sole purpose of theatrical productions. The Theatre's history includes a number of important acting troupes including the Lord Chamberlain's Men, which employed Shakespeare as actor and playwright. After a dispute with the landlord, the theatre was dismantled and the timbers used in the construction of the Globe Theatre on Bankside.

Rivington Place is a purpose-built international visual arts centre in Shoreditch, London.

The Prince's Foundation School of Traditional Arts is a school in London which teaches students at the postgraduate degree level, and short open courses and in the community. The school was founded in 2005 by the Prince of Wales as part of The Prince's Charities group, with the aim "to continue the living traditions of the world's sacred and traditional art forms".

The Royal Drawing School is a not-for-profit educational organisation and registered charity in the London Borough of Hackney in England. It was founded in 2000 by Charles, Prince of Wales, and artist Catherine Goodman as The Prince's Drawing School and received its current name in 2014.The School runs full and part-time drawing courses each year for adults and children of all abilities. This includes a postgraduate programme, The Drawing Year, a Foundation Year, public programme and courses for Young Artists aged 10 – 18 yrs. It is part of The Prince's Charities, a group of not-for-profit organizations affiliated with Charles. In 2006, The Prince's Drawing School received a donation of £85,000 from The Prince's Charities Foundation. In 2018, works created by The Royal Drawing School and two other charities founded by Prince Charles were put on display during the Prince & Patron exhibition to mark his 70th birthday.

The Stuckism International Gallery was the gallery of the Stuckist art movement. It was open from 2002 to 2005 in Shoreditch, and was run by Charles Thomson, the co-founder of Stuckism. It was launched by a procession carrying a coffin marked "The death of conceptual art" to the neighbouring White Cube gallery. The gallery staged group and solo shows of Stuckist paintings, and displayed a preserved shark as a challenge to Damien Hirst and Charles Saatchi. The premises were taken over by La Viande gallery, which shut in 2008.

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) is a British child protection charity founded as the Liverpool Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (LSPCC) by Thomas Agnew on 19 April 1883. The NSPCC lobbies the government on issues relating to child welfare, and creates child abuse public awareness campaigns. Since the 1980s, the charity has had statutory powers allowing it to apply for help on behalf of children at risk. In the 1990s, the charity's publication, Satanic Indicators, fuelled panic in social workers who went and accused parents and removed children from homes when they should not have. It also operates a telephone help line. The Paddington Bear character has partnered with the charity to raise funds.

The Curtain Theatre was an Elizabethan playhouse located in Hewett Street, Shoreditch (within the modern London Borough of Hackney), just outside the City of London. It opened in 1577, and continued staging plays until 1624.The Curtain was built some 200 yards (180 m) south of London's first playhouse, The Theatre, which had opened a year before, in 1576. It was called the "Curtain" because it was located near a plot of land called Curtain Close, which derived its name in turn from its proximity to the walls of Holywell Priory, a curtain wall being a section of wall between two bastions. (The name bears no relationship to the front curtain associated with modern theatres.) The remains of the theatre were rediscovered in archaeological excavations in 2012–16. The most significant revelation was that the Curtain was rectangular, not round. The excavation revealed a 14-metre (46 ft) stage, and evidence of a tunnel under the stage and galleries at the first floor level. Small finds included a ceramic bird whistle; ceramic money boxes for collecting entry fees; beads probably used for decorating stage costumes; and a small statue of Bacchus.

Shoreditch Town Hall is a municipal building in Shoreditch, London. It is a Grade II listed building.

Shoreditch is a district in the East End of London in England, and forms the southern part of the London Borough of Hackney. Neighbouring parts of Tower Hamlets are also perceived as part of the area. In the 16th century, Shoreditch was an important centre of the Elizabethan Theatre, and it has been an important entertainment centre since that time. Today, it hosts many pubs, bars and nightclubs. The most commercial areas lie closest to the city of London and along the A10 Road, with the rest mostly residential.

It has developed various partnerships with Chambers of Commerce within Europe and is supported by companies. ECBM specialises in providing opportunities for the German market, based on programmes offered by its partner universities in the UK.

House of Hackney is a luxury interiors label with a flagship store at St Michaels Clergy House, based in the East London shopping district of Central London. The brand specialises in British-made goods and reinvents traditional designs.
