Bank of Canada Building

The Bank of Canada (BoC; French: Banque du Canada) is a Crown corporation and Canada's central bank. Chartered in 1934 under the Bank of Canada Act, it is responsible for formulating Canada's monetary policy, and for the promotion of a safe and sound financial system within Canada. The Bank of Canada is the sole issuing authority of Canadian banknotes, provides banking services and money management for the government, and loans money to Canadian financial institutions. The contract to produce the banknotes has been held by the Canadian Bank Note Company since 1935. The Bank of Canada headquarters are located at the Bank of Canada Building, 234 Wellington Street in Ottawa, Ontario. The building also used to house the Bank of Canada Museum, which opened in December 1980 and temporarily closed in 2013. As of July 2017, the museum is now located at 30 Bank Street, Ottawa, Ontario, but is connected to the main buildings through the Bank of Canada's underground meeting rooms.

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church is the oldest Presbyterian church in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

The Department of Justice (French: Ministère de la Justice) is a department of the Government of Canada that represents the Canadian government in legal matters. The Department of Justice works to ensure that Canada's justice system is as fair, accessible and efficient as possible. The department helps the federal government to develop policy and to draft and reform laws as needed. At the same time, it acts as the government's legal adviser, providing legal counsel and support, and representing the Government of Canada in court. The department's responsibilities reflect the double role of the Minister of Justice, who is also by law the Attorney General of Canada: in general terms, the Minister is concerned with the administration of justice, including policy in such areas as criminal law, family law, human rights law, and Aboriginal justice; the Attorney General is the chief law officer of the Crown, responsible for conducting all litigation for the federal government. While the role of the Minister of Justice has existed since 1867, the department was not created until 1868. The headquarters of the Department of Justice is located in Ottawa at St. Andrew's Tower (275 Sparks Street), a modern low rise office tower built in 1987. The 52nd and current Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada is David Lametti.

The Confederation Building is a office building in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Located just west of the Parliament Buildings at Bank Street and Wellington Street, it is generally considered part of Parliament Hill. The "civil gothic" structure was designed by Richard Cotsman Wright and Thomas W. Fuller. Work on the Confederation Building began when the cornerstone was laid by the Governor General Lord Willingdon as part of the celebrations of Canada's Diamond Jubilee. The building originally housed workers in a number of departments, with the Department of Agriculture being the largest tenant. It is currently home to civil servants and to a number of MPs and ministers. Many Conservative, Liberal and NDP MPs have their offices there along with some junior cabinet members. In 1988, the federal government designated the structure as a Classified Federal Heritage Building.

The C.D. Howe Building (French: Édifice C.D.-Howe) is an office tower in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, that is the home of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, the Office of the Auditor General and other smaller tenants. It was built by Olympia and York. The federal government sold the land to O&Y for a dollar and signed an agreement to lease the final building for a set rate until 2012. The eleven-story building was opened in 1978.

The Justice Building designed by Thomas W. Fuller in Ottawa is so-called because it was previously home to the Department of Justice (Canada). Originally called Block D, it was built from 1935 to 1938 for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). It was renovated in 1998–2001 and now houses some of the offices of Members of Parliament. It is similar Gothic Revival architecture design to the Confederation Building located just east of it, which was also designed by Thomas W. Fuller. In Ian Fleming's short story "For Your Eyes Only" James Bond visits the RCMP headquarters when it was located in this building, and the book contains a description of the structure.

The Ottawa Marriott Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn Kent Street and Radisson Ottawa Centre Hotel) is a hotel located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on the northwest corner of the intersection of Queen Street and Kent Street in downtown Ottawa. It is the 8th tallest building in Ottawa and 10th tallest building in the National Capital Region. The hotel is well known for the revolving room on its roof.The Ottawa Marriott Hotel is located in the city's downtown core and is walking distance from Parliament Hill, Château Laurier, Rideau Canal, Rideau Centre, Shaw Centre, and the National Gallery of Canada. The hotel comprises 489 guestrooms, 26,000 sq ft (2,400 m2) of meeting space, a fitness centre, indoor pool and a children's activity area. During its construction in 1971, the structure was briefly the tallest building in Ottawa until the neighbouring Place de Ville Tower C surpassed it during its construction. The hotel opened in 1972 as a Holiday Inn. It was later owned by Radisson Hotels before being taken over by Marriott Hotels & Resorts. In 2010, the building underwent significant renovations to the main floor. The top floor restaurant, Merlot Rooftop Grill (originally called La Ronde) closed and re-opened as Summit, a private event space. Summit remains the only revolving room in Ottawa, rotating at a rate of approximately one revolution per two hours. The main floor renovations included closing Cafe Toulouse, their street-level restaurant and re-opening as "spin" Kitchen & Bar.

The CBC Ottawa Production Centre is the headquarters of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The office and studio complex is located on Queen Street in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The building hosts the originating studios for both the CBC's English and French language operations in the National Capital Region. The building was opened in 2004, and contains approximately 37,700 square metres (405,799 sq ft) of office space.

The Justice Annex was a building just east of the Supreme Court of Canada and west of Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Built in 1942–3, it was the last surviving representative of many similar temporary buildings erected during the Second World War to house the rapidly growing number of government employees. This building was built to house Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officers. It later became the headquarters of C.D. Howe's Department of Munitions and Supply. After the war it was given to the Justice Department and named the Justice Annex. All these buildings were extremely basic as the main concern was building them quickly and cheaply. The aged and unairconditioned heritage structure was no longer suitable as office space, and was thus used as a storage facility. The government had long desired to replace the building with a more modern one. This last piece of war time administrative buildings was demolished in the spring 2012.

The Second Supreme Court of Canada building sat to the west of Parliament Hill in Ottawa and was home to the Supreme Court of Canada from 1882 to 1945. Built in 1874, it was built by Chief Dominion Architect Thomas Seaton Scott for Department of Works as a workshop to maintain buildings on Parliament Hill. Modified by Thomas Fuller from 1882 onwards it was shared by the Supreme Court and National Gallery of Canada for six years until the former became the only tenant.Prior to 1882, the Supreme Court conducted their business in various committee rooms on Parliament Hill, including the Railway Committee Room. The court finally got a permanent home within a decade of its creation.The first building for the Supreme Court was built on Bank Street near Parliament. The design was considered quaint and was less elegant than other government buildings in Ottawa. Although similar in design to the West Block and the East Block, it was a more subdued modern Gothic Revival design. After the Supreme Court moved to its new site to the west of Parliament in 1949, this building was demolished in 1955 after it was condemned as a fire hazard. It is the only building on Parliament Hill to be demolished.The site is currently a parking lot and vehicle screening facility for Parliament Hill.

The Capitol Cinema (constructed 1920, demolished 1970) was the largest movie theatre ever built in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and was the city's only true movie palace. Opened in 1920, the 2530-seat cinema was regarded as one of the best cinemas designed by famed theatre-architect Thomas W. Lamb.

The Wellington Building is a Beaux-Arts architecture office building in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was built between 1924 and 1927 as Canadian headquarters of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. The original structure was designed by D. Everett Waid; in 1959, the more restrained classical east wing of the building was added. The Building is located just south of the Parliament buildings at the intersection of Wellington Street and Bank Street with its southern face on Sparks Street. It remained the home of Met Life until 1970 when the company moved to a new building to the south. It was bought by the federal government, and used as offices and for a time the home of the Canadian Postal Museum. In 1984 a shortage of office space for the MPs resulted in some of them being moved to the building. This was the first time MPs had been housed outside of Parliament Hill. Since its rehabilitation in 2016, the building is occupied by the House of Commons and serves several parliamentary functions.
