South Omaha is a former city and current district of Omaha, Nebraska, United States. During its initial development phase the town's nickname was "The Magic City" because of the seemingly overnight growth, due to the rapid development of the Union Stockyards. Annexed by the City of Omaha in 1915, the community has numerous historical landmarks many are within the South Omaha Main Street Historic District.

The Hammond Packing Plant was a division of the G.H. Hammond Company, Limited located at South 36th and O Streets in South Omaha, Nebraska.

The Union Stockyards of Omaha, Nebraska, were founded in 1883 in South Omaha by the Union Stock Yards Company of Omaha. A fierce rival of Chicago's Union Stock Yards, the Omaha Union Stockyards were third in the United States for production by 1890. In 1947 they were second to Chicago in the world. Omaha overtook Chicago as the nation's largest livestock market and meat packing industry center in 1955, a title which it held onto until 1971. The 116-year-old institution closed in 1999. The Livestock Exchange Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

St. Peter Claver Cristo Rey Catholic High School was a private, Roman Catholic high school in Omaha, Nebraska, United States. It was located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Omaha.

The Livestock Exchange Building in Omaha, Nebraska, was built in 1926 at 4920 South 30 Street in South Omaha. It was designed as the centerpiece of the Union Stockyards by architect George Prinz and built by Peter Kiewit and Sons in the Romanesque revival and Northern Italian Renaissance Revival styles. In 1999 it was designated an Omaha Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Union Stockyards were closed in 1999, and the Livestock Exchange Building underwent an extensive renovation over the next several years.

The Armour Packing Plant was a division of Armour and Company located at South 29th and Q Streets in South Omaha, Nebraska. The plant opened in 1897 and closed in 1968. The plant included several buildings, including a remarkable red brick administrative building, and a large, tall wall which surrounded the facility. It was located on the South Omaha Terminal Railway, and next to the Omaha Stockyards, making Armour one of the "Big Four" packing companies in Omaha.

The Burlington Road neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska is bordered by South 42nd Street on the west, L Street on the south, Interstate 80 on the north and Dahlman Avenue on the east. Once incorporated in the City of South Omaha, the area has also been known as Golden Hill in the past.

The O Street Viaduct was located in the South Omaha, Nebraska. Built to accommodate O Street traversing over the Union Pacific tracks, the overpass was constructed in 1885 by interests associated with the Omaha Stockyards. It was included on the Bridges in Nebraska Multiple Property Submission on June 29, 1992. The bridge was demolished in 2001 as part of the redevelopment of the stockyards.

The Swift Packing Plant was a division of Swift and Company located at South 27th and Q Streets in South Omaha, Nebraska. The plant was opened in 1887 and closed in 1969. It covered approximately eight square blocks and consisted of several brick and stone buildings, and was located in proximity to the Omaha Stockyards. It was located on the South Omaha Terminal Railway, and next to the Omaha Stockyards, making Swift one of the "Big Four" packing companies in Omaha.

The Robbins School, originally called Franklin School, is located at 4302 South 39th Avenue in South Omaha, Nebraska, United States. It was built in 1910 to serve a newly established and growing Polish community in south Omaha. A 2000 rehabilitation converted the former school to rental residential use.A pedimented central portico, pilasters, Palladian window and detailed cornice make Robbins School one of the best Neoclassical Revival style buildings remaining in Omaha. After closing in 1994, the building was renovated in the 1990s and converted into apartments. The building was originally named Franklin School. In 1928 two local boys whose last name was Robbins rushed into their burning house to save their invalid mother. One of the boys died in his heroic attempt. The second survived, only to be killed later in the same year in an unrelated sledding accident.

KKCD (105.9 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a classic rock format. Licensed to Omaha, Nebraska, United States, the station serves the Omaha area. The station is owned by SummitMedia. KKCD's studios are located on Mercy Road in Omaha's Aksarben Village, while its transmitter is located near South 27th Street and Q Street (near the Kennedy Freeway), about three miles south of Downtown Omaha.

Upland Park is a public park located at 3014 Jefferson Street in South Omaha, Nebraska. The park and surrounding neighborhood were opened in 1913. Upland Park has two tennis courts, two soccer fields, walking paths, and a small playground at the park, along with a "sprayground," which is a small water park. The sprayground replaced a swimming pool located at the park for several decades during a park-wide renovation in 1999. The spraygrounds are attributed in the 412 percent increase in park attendance in the year following its opening, drawing 7,500 additional users to the park annually. The park has been an important location for low-income and immigrant youth to play soccer, and according to the Omaha World-Herald, it was integral to the Omaha South High School's soccer team's success.Because of its proximity to the former ASARCO site in Omaha, the park has been identified as being contaminated with lead.
