Upper North Philadelphia is a section of Philadelphia that is immediately north of Lower North Philadelphia, and can be described as an area that has a "...large and rapidly growing Puerto Rican population".According to the planning commission, Upper North Philadelphia officially consists of the Allegheny West, Fairhill, Glenwood, Hunting Park, and Nicetown-Tioga neighborhoods. Bounded by York Street to the south, Front Street to the east, Roosevelt Expressway to the north, and Ridge Avenue to the west.

The Wagner Free Institute of Science is a natural history museum at 1700 West Montgomery Avenue in north Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Founded in 1855, it is a rare surviving example of a Victorian era scientific society, with a museum, research center, library, and educational facilities. Its buildings, developed between 1859 and 1901, present the collections of founder William Wagner in the style of the period, and have been designated a National Historic Landmark for their architecture and state of preservation.

Cecil B. Moore is a neighborhood in the North Philadelphia section of the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States named after the late Philadelphia-based civil rights attorney and politician Cecil B. Moore. The district is loosely arranged around the main campus of Temple University. The neighborhood has gentrified due to an influx of Temple students during the past several years. The controversial term “Templetown” was coined by former Temple president Peter J. Liacouras, but has only recently come into wide use after a real estate development company adopted the name. Cecil B. Moore Avenue is the street running parallel to Oxford and Montgomery, intersecting with N. Broad Street in the neighborhood.

Lower North Philadelphia is a section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, that is immediately north of Center City and below Upper North Philadelphia and can be described as a section of Philadelphia that was designated as a "Model City" target, that has overcome poverty and blight through key developments and a recipient of a federal funded program in 1966 to improve the neighborhood and extend the Center City district north of City Hall. It also contains the Lower North Philadelphia Speculative Housing Historic District along Cecil B. Moore Avenue. Lower North Philadelphia consists of the Brewerytown, Cecil B. Moore, Cabot, Fairhill, Francisville, Hartranft, Ludlow, North Central, Poplar, Sharswood, Spring Garden, South Lehigh, Stanton, Strawberry Mansion, Yorktown, Fairmount and Northern Liberties neighborhoods.

McGonigle Hall is an athletic facility on the campus of Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Temple women's basketball splits games between McGonigle Hall and the Liacouras Center and the gym is home to Temple women's fencing, women's gymnastics, and volleyball.McGonigle Hall was constructed from 1967 to 1969 as part of a 250,000 square foot building for Temple's intercollegiate athletics. The entire facility was built at a cost of $8 million and included teaching, research, and training facilities. The basketball arena originally sat 4,500 and was also home to the school's wrestling and gymnastics program. The building was named for Arthur T. McGonigle, a Temple University trustee and pretzel magnate from Reading, Pennsylvania who donated the new facility's furniture and equipment.McGonigle Hall opened on December 2, 1969, with a Temple University men's basketball win over St. John's. The venue served as the home of men's basketball until it was replaced in 1997 by the Liacouras Center. In 2012, the University completed a $48 million renovation and expansion of Pearson and McGonigle Halls, providing additional classrooms, faculty and coaching staff offices as well as state-of-the-art men's and women's basketball practice facilities.

Stanton is a neighborhood located in North Philadelphia. Stanton is bounded by York Street to the north, 16th Street to the east, Sedgley Avenue to the west, and Cecil B. Moore Avenue to the south. Stanton is 82.5% African American, 9.4% white, 4% Hispanic, and 4% other.

The Liacouras Center is a 10,000-seat multi-purpose venue which opened in 1997 and was originally named "The Apollo of Temple". The arena was renamed in 2000 for Temple University President, Peter J. Liacouras. It is part of a $107 million, four-building complex along North Broad Street on the Temple University campus in North Philadelphia. The Liacouras Center is the largest indoor, public assembly venue in Philadelphia north of City Hall.

Cecil B. Moore, also known as Cecil B. Moore/Temple University, formerly Columbia, is a subway stop on the SEPTA Broad Street Line in the Cecil B. Moore neighborhood in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is a local station that has four tracks, with only the outer two being served. There are separate fare control areas for northbound and southbound trains, with no crossover, and a large pavilion entrance with an escalator on the northbound side. This is the main station serving Temple University, and therefore is one of the busiest stops on the line. Susquehanna–Dauphin station, six blocks north, also serves Temple University, although it is further from many of the main locations on campus. Surface Transit Connections: Until February 4, 1956 - Trolley SEPTA Route 3 (now a bus line) serve as the connection. As of June 2007, Cecil B. Moore had an average of 5,644 daily boardings.

Susquehanna–Dauphin is a subway station on SEPTA's Broad Street Line in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The station is located at the 2200 block of North Broad Street in North Philadelphia, between Susquehanna Avenue at the south end and Dauphin Street at the north end. Four tracks travel through the station, however the station is only served by local trains, which travel on the outer two tracks. Along with Cecil B. Moore station, this stop provides access to Temple University, which is located one block south of Susquehanna Avenue. Service began at the station, formerly known as Dauphin–Susquehanna, on September 1, 1928, as part of the original segment of the Broad Street Line, which ran from City Hall station to Olney station.Until February 25, 1956, Trolley Routes 8 and 39 (now a bus line) service as the stations connections which travels westbound on Susquehanna Avenue to the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood, and eastbound on Dauphin Street to the Kensington neighborhood.

The Uptown Theater in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, also known as Uptown Theater and Office Building, is an Art Deco building built in 1927. It was designed by the Philadelphia-based architectural firm of Magaziner, Eberhard & Harris. The Uptown Theater is located on 2240 N. Broad Street. It became a major venue on the Chitlin' Circuit, from 1951–1978. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.It briefly reopened as a church in the 1980s until water damage occurred and caused it to close in 1991. In 2001, the Uptown Entertainment and Development Corporation bought the building with plans for renovation.
