Požarevac

Margus was an ancient Roman city situated at locality of present-day Požarevac (Serbia). Latin name Margus was in use after the Roman conquest in the first century BC. Before the Roman conquest, the area was inhabited by Thracians, Dacians and Celts. Nearby Viminacium was the provincial capital of Moesia Superior, of which Margus was part.In 435, the city of Margus, under the Eastern Roman Empire, was the site of a treaty between the Byzantine Empire and the Hun leaders Attila and Bleda. One pretext for the Hun invasion of the Eastern Roman Empire in 442 was that the Bishop of Margus had crossed the Danube to ransack and desecrate the royal Hun graves on the north bank of the Danube. When the Romans discussed handing over the Bishop, he slipped away and betrayed the city to the Huns, who then sacked the city and went on to invade as far as the gates of Constantinople itself.

The Braničevo District (Serbian Cyrillic: Браничевски округ, romanized: Braničevski okrug, pronounced [brǎnitʃɛv̞skiː ôkruːɡ]; Romanian: Districtul Braničevo) is one of nine administrative districts of Southern and Eastern Serbia. It expands in the north-eastern parts of Serbia. According to the 2022 census results, it has a population of 156,367 inhabitants. The administrative center of the district is Požarevac. It is named after the village of Braničevo.

Požarevac Airport (Serbian: Аеродром Пожаревац / Aerodrom Požarevac) was one of the oldest airports in Serbia, opened in 1915 and closed in 1976. Požarevac Airport was replaced with new Kostolac Airport near Požarevac.

Čačalica (Serbian Cyrillic: Чачалица) is a 208m high hill above Požarevac, which contains a memorial park with same name, Memorial Park Čačalica (Спомен парк Чачалица), that was built in 1962 and includes 28 hectares. The authors of the monuments inside the park are architects Branislav Stojanović and sculptor S. Mišić. The memorial complex is built on a place where during World War II over 3,000 Yugoslav Partisans and their supporters were executed. There is a symbolic monument wall with bullet holes in the place where remains of those killed were buried. There is also a monument dedicated to soldiers of the Red Army who died during the fight to liberate Požarevac. On top of the hill there is monument called Zvezda ("the Star").

Ćirikovac (Serbian Cyrillic: Ћириковац) is a village in the municipality of Požarevac, Serbia. According to the 2002 census, the village has a population of 1407 people.

Lučica (Serbian Cyrillic: Лучица) is a village near the city of Požarevac in Central Eastern Serbia.

The Resavčina (Serbian Cyrillic: Ресавчина) is a river in Serbia, a 32 km-long right tributary to the Velika Morava river. It is sometimes also called Resavica or Resava (not to be confused with another Velika Morava's right tributary of Resava or its own tributary of Resavica). The Resavčina originates near the village of Proštinac in Svilajnac municipality. The river originally flows to the north, but soon turns west at the village of Dubnica and enters the western half of the Veliko Pomoravlje region. At the village of Kušiljevo, the river receives the small stream of Beljeva from the left and turns northward, which is the general direction of its course for the rest of the flow. The river flows parallel to the Velika Morava river as its satellite flow, in the Morava's floodplain, so there are no settlements on the Resavica itself, but several large villages are located in its valley (Porodin, Žabari, Simićevo, Aleksandrovac Požarevački, Vlaški Do, Poljana), all of them located on the Požarevac-Svilajnac road, parallel to the river, but few kilometers to the east. At the dual village of Prugovo-Lučica, the southern suburbs of the town of Požarevac, the Resavčina turns west and empties into the Velika Morava near the horse stud farm of Ljubičevo, one of two most famous in Serbia, just several kilometers southwest of the Požarevac itself. The Resavčina belongs to the Black Sea drainage basin, drains an area of 174 km2, and it is not navigable.

Prugovo (Serbian Cyrillic: Пругово) is a village in the municipality of Požarevac, Serbia. According to the 2002 census, the village has a population of 774 people.

Bubušinac (Serbian Cyrillic: Бубушинац) is a village in the municipality of Požarevac, Serbia. According to the 2002 census, the village has a population of 844 people.

Nabrđe (Serbian Cyrillic: Набрђе) is a village in the municipality of Požarevac, Serbia. According to the 2002 census, the village has a population of 346 people.

Bratinac (Serbian Cyrillic: Братинац) is a village in the municipality of Požarevac, Serbia. According to the 2002 census, the village has a population of 629 people.

Klenovnik (Serbian Cyrillic: Кленовник) is a village in the municipality of Kostolac, city of Požarevac, Serbia. According to the 2002 census, the village has a population of 904 people. It derives its name from Klen, a type of deciduous tree. Legend has it that the area was covered with a Klen forest, which was petrified, and resulted in a large deposit of coal. The thermo-electric power plant Kostolac is near Klenovnik, and is largely powered by the coal extracted from the nearby open-surface mines. Population of Klenovnik mainly shares in two occupations: agriculture and supporting industry for the nearby power plant. Klenovnik has a small school, grades K-4. Although it is a very small village it has city water, paved roads, and steam heating. Population is ethnically mainly Serbian.
