Ryerss Mansion, also known as Burholme Mansion, is a historic mansion in the Fox Chase neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The house was built on 85 acres by merchant Joseph Waln Ryerss in 1859 overlooking Burholme Park, one of the highest vistas in Philadelphia. Joseph was president of the Tioga Railroad and followed the family business of trading with China, Japan, and England. He also followed the family avocation of collecting art, especially oriental art. Joseph died in 1868 leaving the house to his second wife Anne, and following her death, to his son Robert. Robert also traveled and collected art which he displayed in the house. Less than a year before he died at age 65, Robert married his longtime housekeeper, Mary Ann Reed. She inherited a comfortable annuity and the house, with the house to be given to the City of Philadelphia after her death. She remarried three years after his death to the Reverend John G. Bawn and they continued the family avocations of traveling and art collecting. In 1905 she turned the house over to the city and it opened as a park, museum, and library in 1910 “Free to the people forever” under the administration of the Fairmount Park Commission. Mrs. Ryerss Bawn died in 1916 in China. The Reverend Bawn then returned to Philadelphia and lobbied the city to build more galleries to house the now larger collection. These galleries were built in 1923.

Burholme is a neighborhood in the Northeast section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. The neighborhood is adjacent to Burholme Park, which is located in the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia. The Kennedy Crossan School was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Burholme Park is a public park in the Burholme neighborhood of Philadelphia. The park and the Robert W. Ryerss Museum and Library was a gift of the last descendant of the Ryerss family, prominent Philadelphians. Robert W. Ryerss died on Feb. 18, 1895 at age 65, leaving his estate to Mary Reed, his wife of eight months and the head housekeeper of the Ryerss Mansion for 27 years. He left everything to her on the condition that upon her death the best part of his land and much of his estate would be left to the “People of Philadelphia, forever” as a museum and public lending library. Mary Reed Ryerss spent the rest of her life traveling around the world collecting objects for the museum and planning for the library and park.

Ryers is a neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia. Ryers is bounded by Cottman Avenue (PA 73) on the southwest, Fillmore Street on the northwest. Both of these highways separate Philadelphia from Cheltenham and Rockledge, Montgomery County. The Fox Chase Line separates Ryers from Burholme and Fox Chase borders it via Hartel St. on the northeast. The name Ryers comes from the Ryerss Estate which is located in Burholme Park along Central Avenue. The Estate was owned by Joseph Waln Ryerss who left it to his son Robert, a lawyer. Eight months before he died at the age of 65, Robert shocked Philadelphia society by marrying his housekeeper of many years, Mary Ann Reed. The will stipulated that upon Mary Ann’s death the estate was to be turned over to the city of Philadelphia to be used as a park, library, and museum “free to the public.” Before she died, Mary Ann Ryerss turned the property over to the city of Philadelphia in 1905. The Ryerss Museum and Library was opened to the public in 1910 under the administration of the Fairmount Park Commission. Who later left it to the Free Library of Philadelphia.

Fox Chase station is a SEPTA Regional Rail station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Located near the intersection of Rhawn Street and Rockwell Avenue in the Fox Chase neighborhood, it is the current terminus of the Fox Chase Line. Fox Chase station, which has the largest number of parking spaces of any on the line (342), is the closest regional rail stop Philadelphia's Fox Chase, Bustleton, and Pine Valley areas, and to Rockledge and Huntingdon Valley in Montgomery County. The station has two tracks and passengers board and exit at ground level. There is a wheelchair ramp at the north end of the station, though it requires a request to the train staff to utilize. South of the station, the two tracks merge into one and shortly after, it crosses Oxford Avenue (PA 232) on the line's only grade crossing. Just north of the station, the now closed portion of the line crosses Rhawn Street at grade and continues into the woods although both tracks are now blocked off with bumper blocks before the road crossing. SEPTA rebuilt the station area and ticket office in Summer 2010, using funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. In FY 2017, Fox Chase station was the seventh busiest station in the SEPTA Regional Rail system, with a weekday average of 1,446 boardings and 1,091 alightings.

In FY 2013, Ryers station had a weekday average of 402 boardings and 376 alightings. The station itself consists of a new high-level platform and shelter, completed in early 2012.

It is located directly over the city line (Cheltenham Avenue) of Philadelphia. It also borders Northeast Philadelphia over the Fox Chase Line on the east and over Cottman Avenue (PA 73) on the north side. The community is listed for statistical purposes as the Cheltenham Village census-designated place. By the mid-1980s, many Korean Americans moved out of Logan and moved into Cheltenham and other communities.Cheltenham is represented by Madeleine Dean in the 4th Congressional District. As of 2016, Taiwanese airline EVA Air provides a private bus service to and from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City for customers based in the Philadelphia area. It stops in Cheltenham.

Kennedy Crossan Academics Plus Elementary School is a historic elementary school building in the Burholme neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is part of the School District of Philadelphia. The building was designed by Irwin T. Catharine and built in 1922–1924. It is a two-story, nine-bay, brick building on a raised basement in the Late Gothic Revival style. It features a central entrance with arched opening and stone surround and a crenellated brick parapet.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The George K. Heller School, also known as the Cheltenham Center for the Arts, is a historic school building located in Ashmead Village, Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It was originally built in 1883 to house the first Cheltenham High School, and expanded in 1893 and 1906. Later additions took place between 1963 and 1969, after it was converted to the Cheltenham Center for the Arts. The stone school building ranges from 1 1/2- to 2 1/2-stories and has intersecting gable roofs. The roof is topped by a square cupola. A school was located on this site as early as 1795 and it was considered the oldest public school site in continuous use at the time of its closing in 1953.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
