Makomanai Ice Arena

Makomanai River (真駒内川, Makomanai-gawa) is a tributary of the Toyohira River in Sapporo, Hokkaidō, Japan. It has a length of 21 kilometres (13 mi) and has a watershed of 37 square kilometres (14 sq mi). Flowing from Bankei Pond (万計沼, Bankei Numa) in the mountains, the Makomanai River's upper course is called Bankei River (万計沢川, Bankeisawa-gawa), too. Its middle course flows through a narrow valley about 200 metres (660 ft) wide in the Tokiwa (常盤) area. Running north, it merges with the Toyohira River at Makomanai area. The Toyohira River flows through the Sapporo city's center. Makomanai means rear river in the Ainu language.Edwin Dun, an Oyatoi gaikokujin, began development of Makomanai in the 1870s with a pioneer stock farm. The valley of Tokiwa remained undeveloped for a long time. Flood control projects were begun in the later half of 20th century; straightening the river course in the 1960s. Now a residential zone exists along the northern half of Tokiwa along National Route 453. Houses cover the surrounding hilltops around Makomanai. At the confluence with the Toyohira River is Makomanai Park. Cherry salmon migrate to and spawn in the park every year.

The Makomanai Sekisui Heim Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Sapporo, Japan. During the 1972 Winter Olympics, it hosted the opening ceremonies and the speed skating events. Located inside the Makomanai Park, the stadium holds 17,324 people. Currently the stadium holds the speed skating Winter Annual National Competition, and until 2011 the Toyota Big Air snowboarding contest. During summer it is used as tennis courts (up to 8 at the same time) or futsal fields (up to 2 at the same time). As of 2021, the Olympic cauldron is still seemingly mounted on the original 1972 plinth, just within the stadium's south east perimeter.

Sapporo Buried Cultural Property Center (札幌市埋蔵文化財センター, Sapporo Maizō Bunkazai Sentā) opened in Sapporo, Hokkaidō, Japan in 1991. Its aim is to research, collect, provide expertise on the preservation of, and display the city's buried cultural properties. The collection includes Jōmon artefacts as well as those of the Satsumon culture excavated from the Sapporo City K-446 Site that have been designated a Prefectural Tangible Cultural Property.

Hokkaido Automotive Engineering College (北海道自動車短期大学, Hokkaidō jidōsha tanki daigaku) is a private junior college in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, established in 1953.

The Mt. Moiwa Ropeway (藻岩山ロープウェイ, Moiwayama Rōpuwei) is Japanese aerial lift line in Sapporo, Hokkaidō. This is the only line Sapporo Development (札幌振興公社) operates, while the company also operates a ski jumping course and an amusement park. Opened in 1958, the line climbs Mount Moiwa (藻岩山). The observatory is built for the panoramic view of the city. There also is a ski resort.

Mount Moiwa (藻岩山, Moiwayama) is a mountain located about 5 km (3 mi) southwest of the center of Sapporo, Hokkaido and 6 km (4 mi) southwest of Sapporo Station. A ropeway and a motorway pass through Mt. Moiwa, and an observatory and a ski resort in winter make it a resort for Sapporo citizens and tourists.

Anano River (穴の川, Ana-no-kawa) is a river located in the Minami-ku Ishiyama area of southern Sapporo in Hokkaidō, Japan. It is a tributary of the Toyohira River and classified as class A river. It is 9.4 km long and has a catchment area of 8.9 km2.
