Whitehall, New York

Whitehall is a village located in the town of Whitehall in Washington County, New York, United States. It is part of the Glens Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village population was 2,614 in 2010.The village of Whitehall is located at the point where the Vermont border connects to the southern end of Lake Champlain.

Whitehall Armory is a historic National Guard armory building located at Whitehall in Washington County, New York. It is a brick and stone castle-like structure built in 1899, designed to be reminiscent of medieval military structures in Europe. It was designed by State Architect Isaac G. Perry. It consists of a 2-story, hip-roofed administration building with an attached gable-roofed drill shed. The administration building features a 5-story octagonal tower and a 3+1⁄2-story round tower.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

US Post Office-Whitehall is a historic post office building located at Whitehall in Washington County, New York. It was designed and built 1937–1938, and is one of a number of post offices in New York State designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department under Louis A. Simon. The building is in the Colonial Revival style and is a modest one story building, three bays wide and clad in red brick. The interior features a 1939 mural by Axel Horn titled "Settlement of Skenesborough."It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The USS Ticonderoga was a schooner which served in the United States Navy from 1814 to 1825. The first vessel in navy service by that name, she was built as a merchant steamer in 1814 at Vergennes, Vermont, purchased by the Navy at Lake Champlain, converted to a schooner, and relaunched on 12 May 1814.

Skene Manor, listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Judge Joseph Potter House, is a historic home located at Whitehall in Washington County, New York. It was built in 1874 and is a handsome Victorian style mansion built of grey sandstone quarried from its own site with a mansard roof. It features two towers and is embellished with three flat roofed bracketed porches. The center tower is three and one half stories and once featured a large clock that has been removed. The mansion was operated as a restaurant, but is now undergoing restorations and is open for tours.

Main Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Whitehall in Washington County, New York. It includes 40 contributing buildings. It encompasses a three-block-long row of two- and three- story brick and stone commercial structures facing the Champlain Canal. The structures were built between 1865 and 1900, after the fire of 1864. Most were designed by local architect Almon Chandler Hopson, who also designed the Judge Joseph Potter House.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Whitehall station is an Amtrak intercity train station in the village of Whitehall, New York. It is served by the Adirondack. It has one low-level side platform with a small shelter on the east side of the track.

The Mettawee River (sometimes spelled "Mettowee River") is a tributary of Lake Champlain in western Vermont and eastern New York in the United States, passing the town of Granville, New York. The river is particularly good for rapids and kayaking.

The Saddles State Forest is a state forest in New York State. The area was purchased by The Nature Conservancy and was sold to the state in 2013. The two peaks that reach 1,600 feet are purportedly the reasoning behind the naming of the forest. The forest contains over 2,250 feet of undeveloped Lake Champlain shoreline. The area is open for recreation year round. A steep unmaintained gravel road from New York State Route 22 provides access to a parking area. There are no marked DEC trails, although unmaintained logging trails and unofficial hiking paths can be found throughout the forest.Peregrine falcons, bald eagles, and timber rattlesnakes are known to inhabit the area.

Home Farm, also known as the Mirriam-Bartholomew House, is a historic home and farm complex located at East Whitehall in Washington County, New York. The house was built about 1840 and consists of a two-story, five-bay, center entrance brick main block with a rear brick kitchen wing in the Greek Revival style. The farm complex has 17 contributing resources including a frame cow barn complex, a timber frame horse and carriage barn, a light frame creamery, a light-frame sugar house, and a brick smoke house.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Washington Correctional Facility is a medium-security correctional facility that is located in Comstock, a hamlet in the Town of Fort Ann in Washington County, New York. It is designated for confinement of males age 18 and older. The facility offers volunteer and counseling services, and educational and vocational programs. As of 2010 Washington had a working capacity of 882.Michael Alig, convicted of the manslaughter of Angel Melendez in 1997, served some of his sentence at Washington. Joseph Boyajian, convicted of money laundering at Frank Palangi Studios and public intoxication in 2019, is currently serving a ten year sentence at the facility. Joseph was well known as a local KFC franchisee and the original owner of Bogies in Albany, NY before it collapsed during a Trapt concert.

WXLJ (94.1 FM) is a public radio station licensed to Whitehall, New York, United States, serving the Saratoga Springs, New York, area. The station is owned by The St. Lawrence University, and is an affiliate of their North Country Public Radio network. WXLJ's signal covers Glens Falls, Queensbury, parts of Saratoga, and parts of western Vermont. A small mountain range inhibits the signal from reaching clearly into Rutland.
