Ardnacrusha (Irish: Ard na Croise) is a village in County Clare, Munster, Ireland, located on the northern bank of the River Shannon. By road, it is 6.6 kilometres (4.1 mi) north of Limerick. The name derives from the phrase Ard na Croise meaning "the height of the cross", due to a large cross marker placed there in 1111 to mark the boundary of the Diocese of Limerick.In 1841, the village consisted of 17 houses and a population of 136. In 2002, the population was 926.Ardnacrusha is located near the site of the Ardnacrusha power plant, constructed in the 1920s. By 1935, it was producing 80 per cent of Ireland's electricity.

St. Patrick's, or Kilquane (Irish: Cill Chuáin), is a civil parish that is situated on both banks of the River Shannon near the city of Limerick in Ireland. It is unusual in that it is distributed over three baronies: Bunratty Lower, Clanwilliam and the barony of the City of Limerick. Besides the suburbs of the city, it also contains the villages of Ardnacrusha and Parteen. It is known for the Ardnacrusha power plant, a major hydroelectric plant.

St. Munchin's College is a second-level education college located in Corbally, Limerick, Ireland. The school was founded in 1796. It is a Diocesan College or minor seminary.

King's Island is an area of central Limerick, Ireland. The area is often referred to colloquially as The Island and consists of two distinct areas, Englishtown and St Mary's Park. The historical city of Limerick known as Englishtown is located on the southern end and St Mary's Park; a local authority housing estate is located on the northern end. The island is formed from a distributary of the River Shannon. The Abbey River diverts from the Shannon before meeting it again at a confluence near the Potato Market. The island probably took its name after the 13th-century English King John's Castle was built. However, a 150AD map by Ptolemy shows a place called 'Regia' at the same site as King's Island, and history suggests the presence of earlier settlements in the area. The island's location offers an ideal defensive position at a natural river crossing.

The Limerick Civic Trust is an environmental, architectural conservation and educational organisation founded in 1982 that works to identify, record, preserve and publicise Limerick's culture, history, environment and architectural heritage. Although the trust works in conjunction with local authorities, state agencies and various commercial and professional entities, it remains an independent organisation and is entirely self-funded.The trust has no direct connection with the Dublin Civic Trust although they do work in parallel and have at various times made joint annual budget submissions. A significant portion of the trust's work encompasses the protection and rejuvenation of the Georgian area of Limerick city around Newtown Pery. By 2002, the trust had helped to establish 13 of the more than 20 other civic trust organisations which now exist around Irish towns and cities including Dublin, Cork, Kilkenny, Galway, Belfast and Waterford. By 2002, it had also completed more than 90 projects since its own establishment.

Athlunkard Street (Irish: Sráid Áth Longphuirt) is a street on King's Island, in Limerick City, Ireland. The Irish name is, Áth Longphuirt, meaning "ford of the longphort," refers to a 9th-century Viking longphort (defended ship encampment) once located at that ford over the Shannon. Athlunkard Street stretches from the Abbey River, at the O'Dwyer Bridge to the intersection with Mary Street and Nicholas Street. The Arthlunkard name continues over O'Dwyer Bridge with Athlunkard Avenue in Corbally, and the Athlunkard Bridge in Corbally, across the River Shannon from the townland of Athlunkard, County Clare.

The city of Limerick has been besieged five times during the 17th century. Two of these sieges took place during the Eleven Years' War The first of these sieges occurred during the spring of 1642 when Irish Confederate troops besieged and took the town's citadel, King John's Castle from an English Protestant garrison.

Limerick, in western Ireland was the scene of two sieges during the Irish Confederate Wars. The second and largest of these took place during the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland in 1650–51. Limerick was one of the last fortified cities held by an alliance of Irish Irish Confederates and Royalists against the forces of the English Parliament. Its garrison, led by Hugh Dubh O'Neill, surrendered to Henry Ireton after a protracted and bitter siege. Over 2,000 soldiers of Cromwell's New Model Army were killed at Limerick, and Henry Ireton, Cromwell's son-in-law, died of plague.

Saint Mary's Cathedral, Limerick, is a cathedral of the Church of Ireland in Limerick, Ireland, which is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is in the ecclesiastical province of Dublin. Previously the cathedral of the Diocese of Limerick, Ardfert and Aghadoe, it is now the central cathedral in the United Dioceses of Limerick and Killaloe.

City Hall (Irish: Halla na Cathrach, Luimneach) is a municipal facility at Merchant's Quay, Limerick, Ireland. It is the administrative centre of Limerick City and County Council.

The Abbey River (Irish: Abhainn na Mainistreach) is a distributary arm of the River Shannon that flows around the northeastern, eastern, and southern shores of King's Island, Limerick before rejoining the Shannon at Hellsgate Island. Hellsgate Island is only visible at low tide. It is bridged by the Abbey Bridge, Baals Bridge, the Canal Bridge, Matthew Bridge, O'Dwyer Bridge, and the Sylvester O'Halloran Footbridge. King's Island's encirclement by the Shannon and Abbey rivers made it a very defensible location, leading to the founding of Limerick as a Viking settlement in the ninth century. The Abbey River has played a defensive role throughout the city's history, not least during the Cromwellian siege of 1650-51, and the Williamite siege of 1691. It is named after the former Franciscan Abbey located next to the river. In the early 2000s, a number of historical artefacts were discovered when the river was drained. These included Limerick Port seal, intact mortar bombs from the 1690s and a Viking Age bronze artefact, circa AD 1000.

Fanning's Castle (Irish: Caisleán Uí Fhionáin), also called Whitamore's Castle, is the remains of a tower house and National Monument located in Limerick, Ireland.
