Cregg River

The River Clare (Irish: Abhainn an Chláir) is a river in counties Mayo and Galway in Ireland.The 93 kilometres (58 mi) long river rises north of Ballyhaunis in Mayo and descends past Dunmore, where it flows west, then turns south past Milltown continuing down through Kilbennan Church near Tuam. It continues south until past Turloughmore, then turns sharply west, flowing north of Claregalway and, thence, further westward into Lough Corrib. The River Corrib flow from the lake into Galway Bay. The Clare is the longest river in the Lough Corrib catchment.A large section of it is a former turlough (Irish: turlach), which, at 6.5 square kilometres, used to be Ireland's largest.The Clare has since the 1950s been subject to ongoing arterial drainage to lower the bed of the river and mitigate flooding. This has resulted in the river being straightened and canalized between ramparts of dredge material making access to the river difficult and compromising its value as a public amenity.The river is an important spawning channel for salmon and trout and a noted fishery in its own right for both species.Many young teenagers also swim in it during the summer.

Annaghdown Abbey (full title: the Abbey of St Mary de Portu Patrum but also commonly known as Annaghdown Priory) is a ruined house of the Arroasian canons in the townland of Annaghdown, County Galway, Ireland.The site was probably founded by Turlough O'Conor around 1140 and dissolved after the Reformation in 1562. The remaining ruins include a church, a cloister and living quarters. Some details of the windows suggest that they were constructed in the 13th century while the south window of the choir is in the transitional style from c. 1200. As the east window itself appears to be missing and the east window of Annaghdown Cathedral, 110 metres (360 ft) in a south-east direction, is of a similar period, it is possible that it was moved to the cathedral. Author Peter Harbison posits that the perfect fit of the east window of the cathedral does not make a late move likely. The ruins of Annaghdown Abbey are a National Monument.

Annaghdown (Irish: Eanach Dhúin, pronounced [ˌanˠəx ˈɣuːnʲ]) is a civil parish in County Galway, Ireland. It takes its name from Eanach Dhúin, Irish for "the marsh of the fort". It lies around Annaghdown Bay, an inlet of Lough Corrib. Villages in the civil parish include Corrandulla and Currandrum. Annaghdown is also an ecclesiastical parish in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Tuam and the Church of Ireland Diocese of Tuam, Killala and Achonry.

Cloonboo (Irish: Cluain Bú) is a village in County Galway, Ireland. It is located on the N84 national secondary road from Galway to Castlebar.

Ballindooley, officially Ballindooly (Irish: Baile an Dúlaigh), is a village in County Galway, Ireland. It is north of Galway city and in the ecclesiastical parish of Castlegar. There is a 15th century castle in the area, Ballindooley Castle, which was refurbished and sold in late 2016. The village itself is just off the Galway City to Headford (N84) road. Ballindooley Lake, which is sometimes referred to as Ballindooley Lough, is a small lake located southeast of the castle.

Menlo or Menlough (Irish: Mionloch, meaning 'small lake') is a village and townland in one of the Gaeltacht areas of County Galway, Ireland. Menlo currently falls within the boundaries of the city of Galway, though it is outside of the urbanised parts of the city and retains the feel of a small village.

County Galway ( GAWL-way; Irish: Contae na Gaillimhe) is a county in Ireland. It is in the West of Ireland, taking up the south of the province of Connacht. There are several Irish-speaking areas in the west of the county. The traditional county includes, and is named for, the city of Galway, but the city and county are separate local government areas, administered by the local authorities of Galway City Council in the urban area and Galway County Council in the rest of the county. The population of the county was 258,058 at the 2016 census.

The Computing and Communications Museum of Ireland was founded in 2010, and is located at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at the DERI Building, NUI Galway. The museum curates a collection of historical computing machines and artefacts. It is also involved in education and outreach to encourage young people to consider science and engineering careers.

Castlegar (Irish: An Caisleán Gearr) is a village and Roman Catholic parish in County Galway, Ireland, located just outside the city of Galway. It extends from Lough Corrib across to Merlin Park by the old Galway-Dublin road. The annual Galway Races are held at Ballybrit Racecourse in the area.

The Terryland Forest Park is an urban forest park in Galway, Ireland. It was launched in January 2000 as the largest such project in Ireland with a plan to involve the citizens of Galway city in planting 500,000 native Irish trees in an area of 120 acres (0.49 km2) not far from the city centre.
