Lavalette is a census-designated place (CDP) in Wayne County, West Virginia, in the United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,073. Lavalette is located at the intersection of West Virginia Route 152 and West Virginia Route 75, eight miles south of Huntington. The town is near Beech Fork Lake, a popular location for boating and fishing, and Twelvepole Creek. Lavalette was named after Lavalette Miller, the daughter of a Norfolk & Western Railway official. Lavalette is a part of the Huntington-Ashland, WV-KY-OH, Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the MSA had a population of 287,702. Lavalette has two 18-hole public golf courses - Sugarwood Golf Club and Creekside Golf Course. Lavalette also has a paid EMS ambulance service with two emergency response squads and one transport unit. The 35 member volunteer fire department has four engine companies, a rescue boat, and a mobile disaster response trailer.

Buffalo Creek is an unincorporated community in Wayne County, West Virginia, United States. Buffalo Creek is located on West Virginia Route 75, 6 miles (9.7 km) southwest of Huntington.

Camp Mad Anthony Wayne is located on Spring Valley Drive near Huntington, West Virginia, United States. Named for frontier army general Anthony Wayne, it contains vast open grounds, swings and sliding boards, hiking trails, numerous picnic tables, an open campfire circle, and a lodge. The facility sleeps 28 and contains a bathroom and shower facilities. It is host to two large wood-fired fireplaces. In 2002, part of Camp Wayne was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, qualifying because of its historically significant architecture. The designated area included a group of buildings dating between 1931 and 1944, including the lodge and seven houses.

WVHU (800 AM) is a news/talk radio station in the Huntington, West Virginia market. Its offerings are similar to other news talk stations owned by iHeartMedia, Inc., as it is the home for Glenn Beck, The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, and Sean Hannity. The station also carries live play-by-play of the Cincinnati Reds. Previously, rival station WRVC, carried the Reds and Rush Limbaugh, until Clear Channel acquired the station and moved the programming. Previously it was also simulcast on WIRO located to the west, but this station was dropped on April 6, 2009, and WZZW, which was dropped in April 2021. In recent years the station has led the market in AM radio listenership. Prior to adapting a news-talk format, WVHU used the call sign WKEE (which is used by an FM station in Huntington) and featured a Top 40 music format. With its daytime signal extending beyond the Tri-State region centered on Huntington-Ashland-Ironton, the former WKEE was the major Top 40 station for Eastern Kentucky, Southern Ohio, and Northern West Virginia. During that era, WKEE used the slogan "The Tri-State's Friendly Giant." Before becoming WKEE, the station was known as WHTN and it was under those call signs that comedian Soupy Sales began his career as a writer and disc jockey. WHTN began broadcasting in July 1947 as a daytime station on 800 kHz with 1 KW power, licensed to the Greater Huntington Radio Corp.

The Museum of Radio and Technology is a museum in Huntington, West Virginia. The museum covers the birth and growth of electronic communication and entertainment, and includes hands-on exhibits. Admission is free.

WRVC (930 kHz) is an ESPN Radio–affiliated sports–formatted station licensed to Huntington, West Virginia, United States, and serving the greater Huntington–Ashland metropolitan area. The station is owned by Huntington–based Kindred Communications as part of a conglomerate with Ashland, Kentucky–licensed ESPN Radio–affiliated sports station WCMI (1340 AM), Catlettsburg, Kentucky–licensed active rock station WCMI-FM (92.7 FM), Ashland–licensed country music station WDGG (93.7 FM), Kenova, West Virginia–licensed adult contemporary station WMGA (97.9 FM), and Gallipolis, Ohio–licensed classic country station WXBW (101.5 FM). All six stations share studios on Fifth Avenue in downtown Huntington, while its transmitter facilities off of Park Avenue near I-64 in southwestern Huntington. In addition to its primary AM signal, WRVC also operates an FM translator on 94.1 FM as W231BS. Its transmitter is located at the Kindred studios in downtown Huntington.

The Huntington Museum of Art is a nationally accredited art museum located in the Park Hills neighborhood above Ritter Park in Huntington, West Virginia. Housed on over 50 acres of land and occupying almost 60,000 square feet, it is the largest art museum in the state of West Virginia. The museum's campus is home to nature trails and the C. Fred Edwards Conservatory, a subtropical and tropical plant conservatory. The museum's collection includes American and European paintings, sculptures, prints, and drawings, as well as glass pieces manufactured in West Virginia and the Ohio Valley, American folk art, Chinese and Japanese decorative objects, Haitian art, firearms, and decorative arts from the Near East. In addition to its permanent collections, the museum hosts traveling exhibitions and houses the James D. Francis Art Research Library, the Grace Rardin Doherty Auditorium, and five art studios where artists in residence are periodically hosted and classes are held. The Huntington Museum of Art holds one of the largest collections of art in the state of West Virginia.

The Chesapeake & Ohio Railway No. 1308 is an articulated 2-6-6-2 "Mallet" type steam locomotive built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1949. It was the next to the last Class 1 mainline locomotive built by Baldwin, closing out more than 100 years of production, a total of more than 70,000 locomotives. Its other surviving sister locomotive, No. 1309, has been restored to operation at the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad in Cumberland, Maryland.
