The area is part of the traditional region of Upper Carniola. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Sava Statistical Region.

The Medija Thermal Spa (Slovene: Medijske toplice) is a spa located in the town of Izlake in central Slovenia. It was established in 1877 by the local businessman Alojz Prašnikar, although thermal baths at the location were already mentioned by Johann Weikhard von Valvasor in his The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola in the 17th century. In the second half of the 20th century, the complex has gradually been expanded: today's spa consists of a hotel, an indoor swimming pool and an outdoor swimming pool complex. Since 2009, both the hotel and the outdoor swimming pool complex are closed and have been subject to rapid deterioration, caused by a lack of maintenance and vandalism, as well as weather-caused damage, mainly flooding in 2010. In 2013, a civil initiative started a clean-up and restoration of the outdoor pool complex with the purpose of opening it for the local community. A series of clean-ups was organized mainly on Saturdays as well as a photographic exhibition, showing the history of the spa.

It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Sava Statistical Region.The local church is dedicated to Saints Primus and Felician and belongs to the Parish of Čemšenik. It dates to the second half of the 16th century.

Podlipovica (pronounced [pɔˈdliːpɔʋitsa]) is a settlement immediately west of Izlake in the Municipality of Zagorje ob Savi in central Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Upper Carniola. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Sava Statistical Region.The local church, built on a small hill east of the settlement core, is dedicated to Saints Hermagoras and Fortunatus and belongs to the Parish of Izlake. It dates to the late 17th century.The ruins of Medija Castle and the restored castle chapel are located in the southern part of the settlement.

The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Sava Statistical Region. It includes the hamlet of Gamberk (German: Gallenberg).

Medija Castle (Slovene: Medijski grad, Grad Medija, German: Schloss Gallenegg) is a castle ruin located in the southern part of the settlement of Podlipovica, west of Izlake, in the Municipality of Zagorje ob Savi, central-eastern Slovenia. The castle and its stables were destroyed by the Yugoslav Partisans during World War II. The castle chapel was later restored and now serves as a venue for plays, concerts, and other cultural events, as well as weddings. The castle is best known as the supposed resting place of the polymath Johann Weikhard von Valvasor (Slovene: Janez Vajkard Valvasor), whose parents owned the estate, and who also spent his childhood at the castle.

Šemnik (pronounced [ʃɛˈmniːk]; German: Schemnik) is a settlement south of Izlake in the Municipality of Zagorje ob Savi in central Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Upper Carniola. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Sava Statistical Region.The local church is dedicated to Saint Anne and belongs to the Parish of Izlake. It is a Gothic building that was restyled in the Baroque in the mid-18th century.
