Newry Canal

The Flagstaff Hill incident was an international incident between the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom. It took place on the night of 5/6 May 1976 near Cornamucklagh, a townland just inside the Cooley Peninsula in the north of County Louth in the Republic of Ireland, when the Irish Army and Garda Síochána arrested eight British Special Air Service soldiers who had illegally crossed the Irish border.

Narrow Water Castle (Irish: Caisleán an Chaoil; Ulster-Scots: Narra Wattèr Castle) is a 16th-century tower house and bawn near Warrenpoint in Northern Ireland. It is beside the A2 road and on the County Down bank of the Clanrye (Newry) River, which enters Carlingford Lough a mile to the south. It is a historic monument in state care in the townland of Narrow Water, in Newry and Mourne District Council district, at grid ref: J1256 1939.

The Warrenpoint ambush, also known as the Narrow Water ambush, the Warrenpoint massacre or the Narrow Water massacre, was a guerrilla attack by the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) on 27 August 1979. The IRA's South Armagh Brigade ambushed a British Army convoy with two large roadside bombs at Narrow Water Castle outside Warrenpoint, Northern Ireland. The first bomb was aimed at the convoy itself, and the second targeted the incoming reinforcements and the incident command point (ICP) set up to deal with the incident. IRA volunteers hidden in nearby woodland also allegedly fired on the troops, who returned fire. The castle is on the banks of the Newry River, which marks the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Eighteen British soldiers were killed and over twenty were seriously injured, making it the deadliest attack on the British Army during the Troubles. An English civilian was also killed and an Irish civilian wounded, both by British soldiers firing across the border after the first blast. The attack happened on the same day that the IRA assassinated Lord Louis Mountbatten, a close relative of the British royal family.

Narrow Water Forest is a mixed broadleaf and coniferous forest located between Newry and Warrenpoint, Count Down, Northern Ireland. It is 342.04 acres (138.42 ha) in size, of which 138.41 acres (56.01 ha) is controlled by the Forest Service Northern Ireland.

Aghnamoira (from Irish Achadh na Maolrátha 'field of the dismantled earthen fort') is a rural townland in County Down, Northern Ireland. It has an area of 569.63 acres (2.31 km2). It is situated in the civil parish of Clonallan and the historic barony of Iveagh Upper, Upper Half, located 2 miles north-west of Warrenpoint. It lies within the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.

Clermont Carn (Irish: Carnán Mhaighréid Náir, meaning 'cairn of noble Margaret'), also known as Black Mountain, is a mountain that rises to 510 metres (1,670 ft) in the Cooley Mountains of County Louth, Ireland. It is at the border with Northern Ireland, and is also the location of the Clermont Carn transmission site. The mountain's name refers to an ancient burial cairn on its summit, and to Lord Clermont of Ravensdale.

Newry River and River Clanrye (Irish: An Rí; Ulster-Scots: Clanrye Wattèr) are names for one of the rivers of Ireland. The river passes through the city of Newry and empties into Carlingford Lough near Warrenpoint.

Warrenpoint Town Football Club is an intermediate Northern Irish football club that plays in the NIFL Premier Intermediate League.

Milltown is a football stadium in Warrenpoint, County Down, Northern Ireland. It is the home ground of Warrenpoint Town of the NIFL Premier Intermediate League. The stadium sits in the larger Milltown Sports Complex, in the area of Warrenpoint of the same name. The ground was upgraded in 2013 after Warrenpoint were promoted to the Premiership, to satisfy the rules of that league.

St. Mark's High School is a Roman Catholic co-education secondary school situated just outside Warrenpoint, County Down, Northern Ireland. It first opened its doors in 1971 when 120 pupils attended.

Omeath (; Irish: Ó Méith or Uí Meth) is a village on the Cooley Peninsula in County Louth, Ireland, close to the border with Northern Ireland. It is roughly midway between Dublin and Belfast, very near the County Louth and County Armagh / County Down border. As of the 2016 census, Omeath had a population of 603, up from 439 during the 2006 census. It is approximately 6 km (3.7 mi) from Carlingford and about 8 km (5.0 mi) from Newry. By sea, Omeath's nearest land neighbour is Warrenpoint on the south County Down coast. Omeath is home to the Cúchulainn Gaels Gaelic Athletic Association club.

Cúchulainn Gaels GFC is a Gaelic Football club located in Omeath, on the north-eastern side of the Cooley Peninsula in County Louth, Ireland. It fields teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA and recruits players from the neighbouring Peninsula villages of Omeath and Carlingford. The club competes in the Louth Junior Championship and Division 3B of the county football Leagues. Noel Litchfield is the senior team manager.
