Vič

The Vič District (pronounced [ˈʋiːtʃ]; Slovene: Četrtna skupnost Vič), or simply Vič, is a district (mestna četrt) of the City Municipality of Ljubljana. It encompasses the western part of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It is named after the former village of Vič.

The Jožef Stefan Institute (IJS, JSI) (Slovene: Institut "Jožef Stefan") is the largest research institute in Slovenia. The main research areas are physics, chemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, information technologies, reactor physics, energy and environment. At the beginning of 2013 the institute had 962 employees, of whom 404 were PhD scientists. The mission of the Jožef Stefan Institute is the accumulation and dissemination of knowledge at the frontiers of natural science and technology for the benefit of society at large through the pursuit of education, learning, research, and development of high technology at the highest international levels of excellence.

The Glinščica (pronounced [ˈɡliːnʃtʃitsa]) is a stream in Slovenia.

Glince (pronounced [ˈɡliːntsɛ], German: Gleinitz or Gleinitz bei Waitsch) is a former settlement in central Slovenia in the southwest part of the capital Ljubljana. It belongs to the Vič District of the City Municipality of Ljubljana. It is part of the traditional region of Upper Carniola and is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region.

Institute of Mathematics, Physics, and Mechanics (Slovene: Inštitut za matematiko, fiziko in mehaniko; IMFM) is the leading research institution in the areas of mathematics and theoretical computer science in Slovenia. It includes researchers from University of Ljubljana, University of Maribor and University of Primorska. Poligon Creative Centre (Slovene: Poligon kreativni center, commonly known as Poligon) was a creative centre in Slovenia and the first and largest coworking space in Slovenia. It was a training ground for creative communities and self-employed operating in the field of creative economies, social entrepreneurship and culture in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and it was placed inside the former tobacco factory, Tobačna Ljubljana. The Slovenia Crowdfunding Initiative was based out of the center.

The National Institute of Chemistry (in Slovene: Kemijski Inštitut) in Ljubljana is the second largest natural sciences research institute in Slovenia (the country's largest being the Jožef Stefan Institute). Research at the National Institute is divided into two major fields: life sciences and materials science. Among its 11 departments, the Department of Materials Chemistry (D10) is the biggest department in the field of materials science.

Rožna Dolina (pronounced [ˈɾoːʒna dɔˈliːna]; Slovene: Rožna dolina) is a formerly independent settlement in the southwest part of the capital Ljubljana in central Slovenia. It is part of the traditional region of Upper Carniola and is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region.

The Mali Graben (Slovene: Mali graben) is a creek and a natural branch of the Gradaščica River in southwest Ljubljana. It flows south of and parallel to the Gradaščica and is the largest affluent of the river Ljubljanica. It is also known as Stržen (literally, 'thalweg') and Mala voda ('Little Creek').The creek is a natural channel. It splits from the Gradaščica not far from Bokalce Castle, then flows across the southern part of the Murgle residential district and joins the Ljubljanica from the left side near the Gruber Canal. Most water from the Gradaščica is diverted into the Mali Graben, helping alleviate flooding of the Trnovo District of Ljubljana.

The European School Ljubljana (Slovene: Evropska šola Ljubljana) is a co-educational, Accredited European School in Ljubljana, Slovenia that serves students age 6 to 18. It was established in 2018 and is part of the Ljubljana School Centre. In the 2019/20 academic year the school offered programs in English and Slovene, and language instruction in French, German, Lithuanian, and Spanish. The school is certified to offer the European Baccalaureate as its secondary leaving qualification.
