The Ferry Street Bridge was constructed across the Black Rock Canal, in Buffalo, New York, in 1913.The bridge is a bascule bridge, a kind of lift bridge, built by the Strauss Bascule Bridge Company, and is considered a rare and historic design.The bridge underwent a rebuild from 2014 to 2016. The rebuild cost $8 million.

The Mentholatum Company, Inc. is a maker of non-prescription health care products founded in 1889 by Albert Alexander Hyde in the United States. It was bought out by Rohto Pharmaceutical Co., a Japanese health care company, in 1988. The Mentholatum Company is known for its top three products, Mentholatum Ointment, Mentholatum Deep Heating Rub (branded as "Deep Heat" outside of the United States), and Mentholatum Lip Care. The Mentholatum Building in Buffalo, New York was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

The Peace Bridge is an international bridge between Canada and the United States at the east end of Lake Erie at the source of the Niagara River, about 20 kilometres (12.4 mi) upriver of Niagara Falls. It connects Buffalo, New York, in the United States to Fort Erie, Ontario, in Canada. It is operated and maintained by the binational Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority. The Peace Bridge consists of five arched spans over the Niagara River and a Parker deck type truss span over the Black Rock Canal on the American side of the river. The length is 5,800 feet (1.77 km). Material used in the construction included 3,500 feet (1.07 km) of steelwork, 9,000 tons of structural steel and 800 tons of reinforcing steel in the concrete abutments. The Peace Bridge was named to commemorate 100 years of peace between the United States and Canada. It was constructed as a highway bridge to address pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic which could not be accommodated on the International Railway Bridge, built in 1873.

Buffalo Milk Company Building, also known as the Queen City Dairy Company Building, is a historic dairy building located in Buffalo, Erie County, New York. The original section was built in 1903–1905, and is a three-story, "L"-shaped, brick and sandstone building in the Renaissance Revival style. Additions to the building were made in 1910 and 1911. The dairy was first in city to be used for large-scale for the pasteurization and distribution of milk. The building has been redeveloped as an apartment building known as the Niagara Gateway Apartments. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

Columbus Park is a park located in Buffalo, New York along Porter Avenue and Niagara Street at 641–649 Niagara St. It is one of the oldest parks in Buffalo, and lies within the Prospect Hill Historic District but is not a contributing property to the district. A statue of Christopher Columbus was added in 1952. The statue was removed on 10 July 2020. The same day, city officials announced that the Park would be renamed with no mention of Columbus. The new name will involve someone that better honors the contributions and sacrifices of Italian Americans.

Unity Island is an approximately 160-acre (0.65 km2) island separating the Niagara River and the Black Rock Canal, located within the city limits of Buffalo, New York. The historic island is home to two public parks and a water treatment facility. It is connected to the mainland by a two-span swing bridge.The island's original name in the Seneca language is Deyowenoguhdoh. From about the time of the War of 1812 to July 2015, the island was also known by the English name, Squaw Island. In June 2015, after being petitioned by Jodi Lynn Maracle, a Mohawk resident of Buffalo, and members of the Seneca Nation of New York, who considered the name to be racist and derogatory toward Native American women, the members of the Buffalo Common Council voted unanimously to change the island's name to Unity Island. The new name was formally adopted by the city in October 2015, with new signs reflecting the name change were installed on the island; the U.S. Board on Geographic Names recognized the new name in May 2017.

F.N. Burt Company Factory "C", also known as Bison Storage, is a historic box factory building in Buffalo, Erie County, New York. It was built in 1911. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.The building has seven-stories of reinforced concrete and is a daylight factory building. It has a rectangular plan and is nine bays wide by two bays deep and has a flat roof. The F.N. Burt Company occupied the building until 1932, after which the building housed a warehouse. Another factory operated by F.N. Burt in Buffalo was the F.N. Burt Company Factory. The building has been redeveloped as an apartment building known as The Crescendo Lofts.

Buffalo Public School No. 77 is a historic school building located in Buffalo, Erie County, New York. It was built in 1927, and is a three-story, rectangular, brick building with Classical Revival detailing. It has a courtyard plan with a double-height gymnasium at one end and a double-height auditorium at the other. The building is an example of a typical standardized public school plan developed by Ernest Crimi. The school building has been redeveloped as senior housing and a neighborhood community center. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

Riverside Park is the name of a former baseball ground located in Buffalo, New York, United States. The ground was home to the Buffalo Bisons baseball club of the International Association in 1878, and the National League from 1879 through 1883. Although first used in 1878, its name as known to historians first surfaced in 1882. One local newspaper, employing that era's typical built-in editorializing, stated "The Directors have dubbed the ballgrounds 'Riverside Park.' The name is not appropriate, but it will do." [Buffalo Commercial, April 29, 1882, p.3] (The ballpark was at least 1,000 feet from the Niagara River bank.) Located on a block bounded by Fargo Avenue (southwest), Rhode Island Street (northwest), West Avenue (northeast), and Vermont Street (southeast), Riverside Park was the first ballpark to be used by the major league Bisons. The stadium was demolished at the request of its owner, Alexander Culbert, who wanted to redevelop the property. The Bisons moved to Olympic Park for the 1884 season and beyond. The rectangular block is today part of the residential neighborhood of Prospect Hill.

The Upper West Side is a neighborhood in Buffalo, New York.

The West Side Rowing Club is a rowing club in Buffalo, New York. The club's athletes train, practice, and race along the Black Rock Canal and the Buffalo River. West Side is one of two rowing clubs in the city of Buffalo, the other being the Buffalo Scholastic Rowing Association to the south of downtown. The club was founded in 1912 at the southern tip of Squaw Island, now known as Unity Island. In 1975, the club burned down but was rebuilt in its present location near Porter Avenue shortly thereafter. The club has produced rowers and coaches who have won multiple medals in the Summer Olympic Games. Tom Terhaar, coach of the United States National Women's Rowing Team, has won gold at every Summer Olympics game since 2008. Emily Regan, also a Buffalo native and a graduate of Nichols School, won gold at the 2016 Summer Olympics under Terhaar.The club offers programs to athletes in the junior, senior, master's, and pararowing boat classes, while also attracting athletes from area schools not offering rowing teams. Six high schools are partnered with West Side, including the Nichols School, Mount Saint Mary Academy, Nardin Academy, Gow School, St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, and the public City Honors School. In addition to high schools, several colleges and universities are affiliated with the club, including Buffalo State College, Canisius College, and D'Youville College, all based within the city. The University at Buffalo, the larger SUNY university in the area, trains and races on Tonawanda Creek in the town of Amherst, but has been based at West Side in the past.Each year, the West Side Rowing Club hosts between three and five regattas on the Black Rock Canal. The regattas draw thousands of athletes and hundreds of boats from the Western New York region, across the country, and internationally with Canada.There are two facilities on the grounds of the West Side Rowing Club. The Doc Schabb Boathouse features an indoor rowing tank, ergometers and five bays of boat storage. The Fontana Boathouse was built in 2007 and is the newest facility at the West Side complex, home to the Canisius Golden Griffins women's crew since 2011. The design of the boathouse was adapted from plans by architect Frank Lloyd Wright for the Wisconsin Badgers Crew. When the University of Wisconsin–Madison suspended its football program in 1906 over safety concerns, plans for the boathouse were abandoned. Wright's plans were later reintroduced at West Side and the boathouse was constructed, opening in 2007.

The Raid on Black Rock took place during the War of 1812 between the United Kingdom and the United States on 11 July 1813, near the Niagara River in western New York State, USA. The British objective was to capture supplies and equipment from the U.S. military store depot at Black Rock, New York. The raid was a success but the British force suffered substantial casualties as they returned to their landing-point.
