Chetolah

The Cragsmoor Historic District in a historic district that includes most of the Cragsmoor hamlet atop the Shawangunk Ridge in the Town of Wawarsing, part of Ulster County, New York, United States. It is roughly bounded by Henry, Cragsmoor and Sam's Point roads, a Y-shaped area of 3,620 acres (14.5 km²). Within it are 168 buildings (mostly homes), 15 structures and 11 objects, all located amidst a quiet, heavily wooded ridgetop community. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.Many of the buildings in the district date to Cragsmoor's founding as an art colony in the late 19th century, when Edward Lamson Henry and some of his fellow painters visited what was then a small mountain hamlet for local loggers and grew enamored of the scenery. Many homes were designed by Frederick Dellenbaugh and Bert Goldsmith. George Inness, Jr. and Charles Courtney Curran were among the artists who lived and worked here.

Losees Hill is a mountain located in the Catskill Mountains of New York southeast of Ellenville. Mount Don Bosco is located north, and Mount Meenahga is located northwest of Losees Hill.

Cragsmoor is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Ulster County, New York, United States. The population was 433 at the 2020 census. Cragsmoor is located atop the Shawangunk Ridge, in the south part of the Town of Wawarsing. Sam's Point Preserve is in Cragsmoor.

Walker Valley is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located in the western part of the Town of Shawangunk in Ulster County, New York, United States, generally thought of as coterminous with the 12588 ZIP code. The population was 1,269 at the 2020 census.Walker Valley is one of the three geographic sections of the town that local residents use (The other two are Wallkill and Pine Bush). It is centered on NY 52 in the western part of town, where it begins to slope up to the Shawangunk Ridge.

Bear Hill is a mountain located in the Catskill Mountains of New York south of Ellenville. Losees Hill is located east, and Mount Meenahga is located northeast of Bear Hill.

Sam's Point Preserve, or Sam's Point Dwarf Pine Ridge Preserve, is a 4,600-acre (19 km2) preserve in Ulster County on the highest point (2,289 feet [698 m]) of the Shawangunk Ridge in New York, on the Wawarsing, New York-Shawangunk town line. It is owned and managed by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation after having previously been managed by The Nature Conservancy. Its unique environment features dwarf pitch pine trees along the ridgetop. Located within the park is Lake Maratanza, the highest lake on the ridge, and the Ellenville Fault Ice Caves.

Mount Don Bosco is a mountain located in the Catskill Mountains of New York southeast of Ellenville. Shawangunk Ridge is located south, High Point is located northeast, Murray Hill is located east-northeast, Losees Hill is located south, and Mount Meenahga is located northwest of Mount Don Bosco.

Blue Cliff Monastery is an 80-acre (0.32 km2) Thiền Buddhist monastery located in Pine Bush, New York. It was founded in May 2007 by monastic and lay practitioners from the Plum Village Tradition.The monastery is under the direction of Thích Nhất Hạnh's Order of Interbeing in the Thiền tradition. Blue Cliff Monastery follows the same practices and daily schedules as its root monastery Plum Village and its sister monasteries Deer Park Monastery in Escondido, California, and Magnolia Grove Monastery in Batesville, Mississippi.Blue Cliff Monastery was created when the monastics moved from Maple Forest Monastery and the Green Mountain Dharma Center. In 1997 Maple Forest Monastery was founded in Woodstock, Vermont, and a year later Green Mountain Dharma Center was founded in Hartland, Vermont. Maple Forest was the monks' residence and Green Mountain was the nuns' residence. In May 2007 both centers moved to Blue Cliff Monastery.The Monastery is located in the lush, green Hudson Valley of New York (one hour and 30 minutes away from NYC). Inside the property there are two ponds and a creek, and out of its 80 acres, 65 are forest. Visitors are welcome to practice mindfulness with the multifold community of monks, nuns and laypeople. Typically, days of mindfulness are held twice a week (Thursdays and Sundays). Retreats are held frequently throughout the year.

Lake Maratanza is the highest lake in New York's Shawangunk Ridge at 2,245 feet (684 m) above sea level. It is within Sam's Point Preserve.The lake is dammed and supplies drinking water to Ellenville. The outlet brook drains to the other side of the ridge, into the Verkeerder Kill, a tributary of the Shawangunk Kill and by extension the Wallkill River.

Mount Meenahga is a mountain located on the Shawangunk Ridge of New York southeast of Ellenville. The Shawangunk Ridge is located south, High Point is located northeast, and Bear Hill is located southwest of Mount Meenahga.

WRWB-FM (99.3 MHz) is a radio station licensed to Ellenville, New York and serving an area including much of the Hudson Valley and the eastern parts of the Catskills. WRWB-FM is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. and broadcasts with 115 watts effective radiated power from a tower site on Shawangunk Ridge in Ellenville. The high elevation of this tower site gives the station a fringe coverage area that stretches from the Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts to the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. Its studios are in Arlington, New York.

The Nevele Grande Hotel (NEV-uh-lee) was a high rise resort hotel located in Wawarsing, New York, United States, just outside Ellenville, New York; it closed in 2009. The Nevele dated back to the days of the Borscht Belt, opening in 1901. “Nevele” is “Eleven” spelled backwards — according to lore, after the eleven nineteenth-century schoolteachers who discovered a waterfall within the present-day property. And according to family lore, the founder Charles Slutsky had had eleven children from 1880-1906 and the name might have come from that instead.The hotel closed in 2009. A June 2020 report indicated that the "buildings remain, falling apart and with no future of reuse ... there are plans to tear down the remaining structures on the property and turn it into a sports complex". The property included a once highly regarded 18-hole golf course and a 9-hole golf course which are closed and have fallen into disrepair.
