Wills Creek (North Branch Potomac River tributary)

The Greene Street Historic District is a national historic district in Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland. It is a 7-acre (28,000 m2) linear historic district along both sides of Greene Street on the west side of Cumberland. It contains 45 buildings (44 are brick), 37 of which are residential and 8 of which exhibit commercial design characteristics. The earliest buildings in the district are built in the Federal style, followed by buildings erected in the Greek Revival, Italianate, Queen Anne, and Colonial Revival styles. The earliest of the district's resources was constructed about 1820, with the most recent built about 1930.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Wills Mountain State Park is an undeveloped public recreation area on Wills Mountain overlooking the Cumberland Narrows in Allegany County, Maryland. The state park occupies 357 acres (144 ha) on the northwest edge of the City of Cumberland. It is under the control of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

The Canada Hose Company Building is a historic firehouse in Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland, United States. It is a two-story gable-front brick structure. Above the doors used for the fire engines is a sign which reads "Cumberland Hose Co. No. 1." The building is the oldest of a number of old firehouses built in Cumberland during the 19th century; it was completed in 1845.The Canada Hose Company Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Washington Street Historic District is a national historic district named after George Washington in Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland. It is an approximately 35-acre (140,000 m2) residential area to the west of downtown Cumberland and consists primarily of six blocks of Washington Street. It contains large-scale 19th- and 20th-century houses representing most of the major architectural styles, including examples of Greek Revival, Italianate, Gothic, Queen Anne, Romanesque, Colonial Revival, and bungalow. Also included in the district are the 1890s Romanesque courthouse, the 1850s Greek Revival academy building, and the Algonquin Hotel. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.The Washington Street Historic District is home to the Washington Street Library, the Circuit Courthouse for Allegany County, the Allegany County Board of Education, and the Allegany County Historical Society. The remains of Fort Cumberland are also in the Washington Street Historic District.

The Cumberland Narrows (or simply The Narrows) is a water gap in western Maryland in the United States, just west of Cumberland. Wills Creek cuts through the central ridge of the Wills Mountain Anticline at a low elevation here between Wills Mountain to the north and Haystack Mountain to the south. Cliffs and talus of the two mountains' Tuscarora quartzite caprock are prominent within the Narrows. A prominent rocky outcropping at the south end of Wills Mountain in the Cumberland Narrows is known as Lover's Leap. The geological features of the Narrows provide Cumberland a western backdrop of the two mountains with a narrow gap between them.

Bishop Walsh School is a K-12 Catholic school located in Cumberland, Maryland, and under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Approximately 350 students attend. The school also hosts a pre-K program and operates the St. Michael's pre-K program in Frostburg.

The Cumberland Theatre is Western Maryland's only regional professional theatre. It is located in Cumberland, Maryland, and stages a wide variety of musicals, plays, and dramas. It is a nonprofit organization, founded in 1988 and relocated in a formerly empty church in 1991.

The Allegany County Courthouse is the Maryland Circuit court for Allegany County, Maryland, United States. It is located in Cumberland's Washington Street Historic District. Although many church spires dot the Cumberland landscape, it is the Allegany County Courthouse that dominates this city's skyline. The building is prominently sited along Washington Street, which rises sharply from Wills Creek running through the heart of Cumberland. Historically, courthouses in America have been one of the most architecturally impressive buildings within a community. In this way, the architecture of the building was able to convey the authority of a local government, as well as instill respect and recognition.

Located in the historic district of Cumberland, Maryland, the Washington Street Library first opened its doors on June 19, 1934. This Greek Revival style building was constructed between 1849 and 1850, as a larger building for the Allegany County Academy, the first public school in Allegany County which was founded in 1799. A new addition was constructed in 1966, allowing for the expansion of the library collection. Today, the Washington Street Library houses the largest reference collection in the Allegany County Library System, and offers an extensive local history area in the Maryland Room. Free internet access, books on tape, Interlibrary Loan services, and an impressive collection of fiction and non-fiction materials are just a few of the services offered. Children's programs take place weekly.

Wright Butler House is a historic home in Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland, United States. It is a 2+1⁄2-story, Queen Anne-style suburban one-unit dwelling built about 1896. The house was the home of Wright Butler (1868–1932), one of Cumberland's leading architects at the turn of the 20th century. He also designed the George Truog House.The Wright Butler House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

WCBC (1270 kHz) is an AM radio station that serves the greater area of Cumberland, Maryland. WCBC provides news coverage: locally, regionally, and nationally; weather forecasts; participation in major community events to promote the area and its organizations by way of remote broadcasts and community service announcements. WCBC's programming includes the long running Dave Norman Morning Program, and network affiliations with ABC Radio Network (Network news and Sean Hannity), the Westwood One Radio Network (Jim Bohannon), Dave Ramsey, Mark Levin, Premiere Networks (Coast to Coast AM with George Noory), Talk Radio Network (Laura Ingraham and Michael Savage), SportsMap Network, and the Focus on the Family Radio Network. The station's sports programming includes coverage of local high school football and basketball, Allegany College of Maryland basketball, and West Virginia University football and basketball, Washington Commanders football, and area little league baseball. WCBC also has an FM sister station, WCBC-FM at 107.1 in Keyser, West Virginia, playing a classic hits format.

Caiuctucuc was a large village of on the western side of what is now Cumberland, Maryland, found between 1720 and 1730 by early European explorers. It sat at the junction of the Cohongaronta (Potomac) and the Caiuctucuc (Wills Creek) streams. Tipis and lodges lined the riverbank along present day Green Street in western Cumberland.The village was abandoned prior to 1751 to the ever-growing numbers of animal trappers and traders.
