Terminal 2–Humphrey station is a light rail station is on the Metro Blue Line. It is the fifteenth stop southbound. This is a center-platform station and is typically accessed via a partially covered walkway from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport's Humphrey Terminal. Service began at this station when the second phase of the Blue Line opened on December 4, 2004. The southern portal to the tunnels underneath the airport is located just to the north of this station. Service between this station and Lindbergh Terminal is free to passengers and operates 24-hours a day. The Blue Line is the main mode of transportation to transfer between terminals. The station closed on September 9, 2006, to allow for construction of a new parking garage. It reopened on September 8, 2007.

Speedway Field was the original name for the airfield that was to evolve into Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, the twelfth busiest airport in the United States; it was also the largest hub for Northwest Airlines and is the third largest hub for Delta Air Lines, Northwest's successor. Speedway Field has its beginning on December 11, 1919, when the Adjutant General recommended to civic groups of Minneapolis and Saint Paul in the U.S. state of Minnesota that the site of the bankrupted Twin City Motor Speedway be acquired for a new airfield. The 160 acres (0.65 km2) of land inside the concrete race track oval was first used as an airfield in 1920. It was known as "Speedway Field" and also "Snelling Field" before being dedicated Wold-Chamberlain Field after two World War I pilots, Ernest Groves Wold and Cyrus Foss Chamberlain on July 10, 1923.

Fort Snelling National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located in the Fort Snelling Unorganized Territory adjacent to the historic fort and Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport. It is one of the two national cemeteries in the state and is the older. Administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it covers 436.3 acres (176.6 ha), and as of 2022 had over 248,000 interments. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

Minneapolis–Saint Paul Joint Air Reserve Station is a United States Air Force base, located at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport. It is located in the Fort Snelling Unorganized Territory on the southeast border of Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was formerly the location of Naval Air Station Twin Cities.

Morris Park is a neighborhood in the Nokomis community in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Its boundaries are 54th Street to the north, 46th Avenue to the east, the Twin Cities Air Force Base to the south, and 34th Avenue to the west. It shares a neighborhood organization with the Keewaydin, Minnehaha, and Wenonah neighborhoods, which are collectively referred to as Nokomis East and served by the Nokomis East Neighborhood Association (NENA).

The Minneapolis-Saint Paul Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) is the owner and operator of Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport in Minnesota as well as six other reliever airports in the Twin Cities region, which primarily provide service to private individuals and businesses, but also have regional transportation service. The MAC is a governmental agency of the State of Minnesota. Twelve of its commissioners are appointed by the governor. The mayors of the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul or their designees are also members of the commission. Four of the commissioners must be residents of outstate Minnesota (outside the Twin Cities metropolitan area).

The Terminal 1–Lindbergh station is a light rail station on the Metro Blue Line. It is the only underground station on the Blue Line and is located 69 feet (21 m) below ground level at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport. It is a center-platform station that is accessed by escalator or elevator. Service began at the site when the second phase of the Blue Line opened on December 4, 2004. The location of this station directly below a major airport caused challenges for its designers. The tunnel and the station both had to be carefully designed to meet Federal Aviation Administration safety requirements. Passengers can access this station from the transit center in the "Hub Building", which is reached by taking the Minneapolis–St. Paul Airport Trams, which is a people mover from the tram-level of the main terminal.This station was excavated after the two main tunnel tubes were constructed with a tunnel boring machine (though cut and cover was used near the ends of the tunnels). The station box is 40 ft (12 m) high, 63 ft (19 m) wide, and approximately 300 ft (91 m) long. The station is the largest subterranean public space in Minnesota. During the excavation of the tunnels, a buried river valley was encountered a few hundred feet south of the station. Lindbergh Station is unheated, but maintains a temperature of roughly 50–60 °F (10–15 °C) year-round because of its underground location. Small spot heaters are not available at this location as they were never installed; the small press buttons actually do nothing.Service between this station and Humphrey Terminal is free to passengers and operates 24-hours a day. The Blue Line is the main way for travelers to transfer between terminals. Along with Terminal 2-Humphrey station, the station is owned and maintained by the Metropolitan Airports Commission rather than Metro Transit.

Wenonah is a neighborhood on the southeast side of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Its boundaries are 54th Street to the north, 34th Avenue to the east, the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport to the south, and Cedar Avenue to the west. The neighborhood contains a portion of Lake Nokomis. It shares a neighborhood organization with the Keewaydin, Minnehaha, and Morris Park neighborhoods, which are collectively referred to as Nokomis East and are served by the Nokomis East Neighborhood Association (NENA).

The Minnesota Air National Guard Museum is an aviation museum located at Minneapolis–Saint Paul Joint Air Reserve Station in Fort Snelling, Minnesota. It is dedicated to the history of the Minnesota Air National Guard.

The Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge is a 14,000-acre (5,666 ha) National Wildlife Refuge in eastern and central Minnesota. Located just south of the city of Minneapolis, it is one of fourteen Regional Priority Urban Wildlife Refuges in the nation. Many parts of the Refuge are near large establishments of the Twin Cities; the Bloomington Education and Visitor Center and two trailheads are located just blocks from the Mall of America, the Wilkie Unit is just east of Valleyfair and the Louisville Swamp Unit is just south of Minnesota Renaissance Festival. The Refuge stretches southwest through Minneapolis’ outer-ring suburbs to Henderson, Minnesota. There are eleven refuge units strung along 70 miles (110 km) of the Minnesota River. The various Refuge units are interspersed with units of the Minnesota Valley State Recreation Area. Although the National Wildlife Refuge is managed by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and the state recreation area by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, both agencies share a consistent signage to simplify visitation. The Refuge has two visitor centers: The Bloomington Education and Visitor Center is at 3815 American Boulevard East in Bloomington, MN and is part of the Long Meadow Lake Unit. There are two hiking trails that can be accessed from the visitor center and many exhibits to explore. The visitor center is open Tuesday-Sunday, 9 am-5 pm during the summer season and Tuesday-Saturday, 9 am-4 pm during the winter season. The Rapids Lake Education and Visitor Center is at 15865 Rapids Lake Road in Carver, MN and is part of the Rapids Lake Unit. There are two hiking trails that can be accessed from the visitor center and short hikes will lead to rewarding views of the Minnesota River and the Carver Rapids. The visitor center is open Tuesday-Friday, 9 am-4 pm, but it is recommend to call ahead to confirm that the facility is open, as staff may be leading school programs or other outreach events off-site. While the facilities may be closed certain days of the week, the Refuge's trails are open sunrise to sunset and are open year-round. The Refuge does not groom trails during the winter season.

American Boulevard is a light rail station in Bloomington, Minnesota at the intersection of 34th Avenue South and American Boulevard, just south of Interstate 494. It is the only station on the Blue Line to have a split design where the northbound platform is on the opposite end of the intersection from the southbound platform. It is an infill station, that was built after the rest of the line had been completed. It was included in the original plans for the Blue Line, but was shelved when extra costs incurred caused plans for the Mall of America station to change. The station had a dedication ceremony for construction workers on December 9, 2009 and opened on December 12, 2009.

Nokomis East is a group of neighborhoods in the southeastern corner of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. It consists of four neighborhoods: Keewaydin, Minnehaha, Morris Park and Wenonah. Nokomis East contains two schools, the Nokomis Community Library, and a post office. On its western edge is Lake Nokomis, for which it is named. Two regional parks (Minnehaha and Lake Nokomis), and three neighborhood parks, (Keewaydin, Bossen Field and Morris Park) provide recreation and educational programming for all age groups. Seven churches serve residents of various denominations. Nokomis East is served by the Nokomis East Neighborhood Association (NENA). The main transportation corridors are the neighborhood boundaries: Cedar Avenue, 34th and 28th Avenues, 50th and 54th Streets, Hwy 55 (Hiawatha Avenue), and Crosstown highway 62.
