The Dr. C.A. Thigpen House is a historic mansion in Montgomery, Alabama, U.S.. It was built for Dr. Charles A. Thigpen, a physician, circa 1898. It was designed in the classical style by architect Frank Lockwood. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 13 December 1977.

Trinity Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, Alabama is a flagship and founding congregation within the Presbyterian Church in America, PCA. Trinity has about 1,300 members.

The Alabama Governor's Mansion is the official residence of the governor of Alabama and the governor's family in Montgomery, the capital city of Alabama. The current Governor of Alabama, Kay Ivey lives at the governor's mansion. The original governor's mansion for Alabama was occupied from 1911 until 1950, when the current mansion was acquired. The current mansion was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 3, 1972.

The Gay House was a historic Queen Anne style house in Montgomery, Alabama. The two-story frame building was built by the Hugger Brothers Construction Company in 1900 for Charles Linn Gay. Gay, born on November 8, 1862, was a Montgomery businessman. He died on July 4, 1928. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 15, 1975. It was mostly destroyed by fire in October 2007 and the remnants were sold for architectural salvage in July 2011.

The Tyson–Maner House is a historic mansion in Montgomery, Alabama, U.S.. It was built in 1890 for Archibald Pitt Tyson, a former farmer turned real estate developer. It remained in the family until 1930, as it was inherited by his wife Ellen Nicholson Arrington in 1918 and later by their children. By the 1970s, it belonged to Carl Herbert Lancaster, an architect. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 10, 1979.

Sidney Lanier High School is a public high school in Montgomery, Alabama, United States.

Opp Cottage is a historic residence in Montgomery, Alabama. T. J. and Eliza Wilson began construction on the house in 1860, but it was not completed until 1866, after it was sold to Valentine Opp. Opp was an immigrant from Austria who initially settled in Lowndes County, Alabama, and came to Montgomery after the Civil War. Opp operated a successful tailoring business. Opp's son Henry became a lawyer, the county solicitor of Covington County, and mayor of Andalusia. As attorney for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, he was instrumental in extending the railroad through the present-day town of Opp, which was named in his honor. The house is a raised cottage, built on a sloping lot, with the lower story not visible from the street. The five-bay façade has a full-width front porch, which originally had ornate fretwork along its balustrade and column brackets. Two wide, interior chimneys punctuate the hipped roof. All windows are six-over-six double hung sashes and originally had shutters. The interior is laid out in a center-hall plan, with a parlor and smaller room on each side. A small room behind the hall contains a staircase and access to the two-story rear portico (no longer extant). Four further rooms are found on the bottom floor.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

The Alabama State University Historic District is a 26-acre (11 ha) historic district at the heart of the Alabama State University campus in Montgomery, Alabama. It contains eighteen contributing buildings, many of them in the Colonial Revival style, and one site. The district was placed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on August 25, 1994, and the National Register of Historic Places on October 8, 1998.

The Cloverdale Historic District is a 156-acre (63 ha) historic district in Montgomery, Alabama. It is roughly bounded by Norman Bridge and Cloverdale roads, Fairview and Felder avenues, and Boultier Street. It contains 463 contributing buildings and 4 structures that date from the mid-19th to the early 20th centuries. The district was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 12, 1985.

The Stay House is a historic residence in Montgomery, Alabama. The house was built in 1893 for physician and politician John Howard Henry. Henry studied medicine in New York and Philadelphia before returning to Montgomery to practice. After his father's death in 1857 he moved to Selma and became active in politics, and was mayor at the end of the Civil War. Henry became active in the Republican Party, but abandoned his political career in the early 1880s, returning to Montgomery and resuming his medical practice. The house is a two-story, brick veneer Victorian structure, with some Eastlakian trim. The three-bay façade has a gabled bay to the right of a central, square tower, both of which feature horseshoe shaped ventilators. A flat-roofed porch covers the left two bays. The arched front doorway has alternating stone voussoirs and a four-segment fanlight. The main block has a center-hall plan, with a one-story rear kitchen wing and enclosed rear porch. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Alabama State University (ASU, Bama State, or Alabama State) is a public historically black university in Montgomery, Alabama. Founded in 1867, during the Reconstruction era, it was one of about 180 "normal schools" established by state governments in the 19th century to train teachers for the rapidly growing public common schools. It was one of 23 established to train African Americans to teach in segregated schools. Some of the 180 closed but most steadily expanded their role and became state colleges in the early 20th century and state universities in the late 20th century. ASU is a member-school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

Tullibody Academy was a school for African Americans in Hale County, central western Alabama. It was established by William Burns Paterson in the early part of 1870.
