The Institute for Security Studies, also known as ISS or ISS Africa (to distinguish itself from other similarly named institutes in other parts of the world), described itself as follows: "an African organisation which aims to enhance human security on the continent. It does independent and authoritative research, provides expert policy analysis and advice, and delivers practical training and technical assistance." Their areas of research include transnational crimes, migration, maritime security, development, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, crime prevention, criminal justice, conflict analysis and governance. It is the largest independent research institute in Africa dealing with human security and is headquartered in Pretoria, South Africa, with offices in Kenya, Ethiopia and Senegal. In 2019, it was ranked first in Africa by the Global Go To Think Tanks Report for "Think Tanks with Outstanding Policy-Oriented Research Programs" and as the second best independent Think Tank in Africa.

Brooklyn Mall is a shopping mall in Brooklyn, Pretoria, South Africa, owned by development company Growthpoint Properties. Brooklyn is designed around two spaces – the Mall itself, hosting the retail area, and Brooklyn Square, an outside dining area.

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is the revenue service of the South African government. It administers the country's tax system and customs service, and enforces compliance with related legislation. It is governed by the SARS Act 34 of 1997, which established it as "an organ of state within the public administration, but as an institution outside the public service." It thus has a significant degree of administrative autonomy, although it is under the policy control of the Minister of Finance. Effectively, SARS manages, administrates, and implements the tax regime as designed by the Minister and National Treasury. SARS was established in 1997 by a merger of the customs and inland revenue departments, at the recommendation of the Katz Commission, which had been instituted to review the South African tax system for the post-apartheid era. In subsequent years, under the leadership of Pravin Gordhan, SARS gained a reputation for effectiveness. However, between 2014 and 2018, the agency's tax collection and investigative capacities were severely undermined, or even "decimated," as a result of a restructuring which has been called a "premeditated offensive," allegedly calculated to enable the capture of SARS. Such allegations were investigated by the 2018 Nugent Commission.

Waterkloof House Preparatory School (WHPS, pronounced, and commonly known as, WHiPS) is an independent (private) primary school in Pretoria, South Africa, offering education to grade 000 and grade 00 boys and girls, and grade 0–7 boys only through the medium of English. Well known former pupils include, amongst others, Deon Chang, journalist; Eddie Barlow, South African international cricket star; Richard Sterne, professional golfer; Tony Peake, novelist; and Elon Musk, business magnate, founder of SpaceX and CEO of Tesla Motors.

Waterkloof (Afrikaans: for "Water Ravine") is a suburb of the city of Pretoria, South Africa, located to the east of the city centre. It is named after the original farm that stood there when Pretoria was founded in the 19th Century. Waterkloof is a highly sought-after area and has some of the city's most expensive real estate, including hilltop homesteads on Edward and Victoria Streets with views of Pretoria. Like many areas of the city, its streets are lined with jacaranda trees. Many streets are named after British royalty; the main thoroughfares are Crown Avenue, which links Waterkloof with the affluent suburb of Brooklyn to its north, and Albert Street, which runs East-West between the neighbouring areas of Menlo Park and Groenkloof. Several ambassadorial residences are located in Waterkloof. It is the home of soprano Mimi Coertse, and the location of the upmarket Dube-house in the film Tsotsi. Pretoria Country Club, which has an eighteen-hole golf course, is also located in the area.

The Austin Roberts (Memorial) Bird Sanctuary is a 11.76 ha (29.1 acres) nature reserve located in the Walkerspruit Open Space System, in the Nieuw Muckleneuk suburb of Pretoria, South Africa. It became the first bird refuge in Pretoria when it was opened by the then mayor of Pretoria, Mr. W. J. Seymore, on 27 October 1956. It was officially proclaimed as a nature reserve on 26 February 1958, and it was fenced in June 1970.The sanctuary is named after South Africa's well-known ornithologist and mammalogist, J. Austin Roberts. He was born in Pretoria in 1883, but grew up in Potchefstroom as a minister's son, where the local amateur ornithologist, Thomas Ayres, was his mentor.

The French embassy in Pretoria is the main diplomatic mission of France in South Africa. The embassy is located at 250 Melk Street in the South African administrative capital city of Pretoria. As of August 2018, the Ambassador-Designate is Aurélien Lechevallier.

St John Vianney Seminary, Pretoria, South Africa, is the National Seminary for the Roman Catholic Church in South Africa. The institution is a training facility and House of Formation under the auspices of the Southern African Catholic Bishops' Conference (SACBC).

The Pretoria Arts Association (Afrikaans: Pretoria Kunsvereniging)is an organization for the promotion and study of the visual arts located in the Nieuw Muckleneuk neighborhood of Pretoria, South Africa.

The Public Protector in South Africa is one of six independent state institutions set up by the country's Constitution to support and defend democracy. According to Section 181 of the Constitution: These institutions are independent, and subject only to the Constitution and the law. According to the Constitution, they must be impartial and must exercise their powers and perform their functions without fear, favour or prejudice. Other organs of state, through legislative and other measures, must assist and protect these institutions to ensure the independence, impartiality, dignity and effectiveness of these institutions. No person or organ of state may interfere with the functioning of these institutions. These institutions are accountable to the National Assembly, and must report on their activities and the performance of their functions to the Assembly at least once a year.

Jan Cilliers Park is a park in Groenkloof, Pretoria, South Africa. The 4.5-hectare (11-acre) park on the northern slopes of Klapperkop is also known as Protea Park. The park is dedicated to native plants and offers scenic views of the city and the Union Buildings. The park is on the corner of Wenning and Broderick Streets, with the entrance on the latter. The centerpiece of the park is a stream with 14 miniature waterfalls connecting two dams alongside a wide variety of plants. The park also features large lawns interspersed with rockeries, trees, and shrubs.

Kya Rosa is a beautifully decorated late-Victorian house at the main entrance to the University of Pretoria in Pretoria, South Africa. The original building was constructed in Skinner Street in 1895 and belonged to Leo Weinthal, owner of The Press. It was named after his wife, Rosa. The word ‘Kya’ is the Zulu word for ‘house’. Kya Rosa later became the first home of the then Transvaal University College (TUC) – the predecessor of the University of Pretoria – but by 1915 it was no longer in use. In 1980, the University commissioned the construction of a replica of the house where it stands today – at the Roper Street entrance to the University. Work began in 1983, under the guidance of architect Albrecht Holm, an alumnus of the University of Pretoria. Precise measurements were taken from the original building and old photographs were used as reference to ensure that the reconstructed building closely resembles the original house. Many of the original Victorian fittings were used in the reconstruction. Today, Kya Rosa houses the Office for Alumni Relations and incorporates a small conference and entertainment centre. The house was officially opened by Dr Anton Rupert on 25 October 1985.
