Ontario County is a county in the U.S. State of New York. As of the 2020 census, the population was 112,458. The county seat is Canandaigua.Ontario County is part of the Rochester, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2006, Progressive Farmer rated Ontario County as the "Best Place to Live" in the U.S., for its "great schools, low crime, excellent health care" and its proximity to Rochester.

Brigham Hall, also known as Grove Home, is a historic psychiatric hospital located at Canandaigua in Ontario County, New York. It is a complex of 10 buildings designed as a facility for the care and confinement of the mentally ill. The Gothic Revival style main building was built about 1855 and is surrounded by the contributing outbuildings. The central section is a 1+1⁄2- to 2-story brick and fieldstone structure, flanked by two-story brick wings. Other structures on the property are Heritage House (or George Cook Memorial Building), an early 20th-century residential unit; Female Unit #1 and Male Unit #2, also constructed in the early 20th century; a frame storage building; paint shop; cistern; gazebo; and Recreation Building, built between 1908 and 1924. By 1960 the complex was converted for use as a nursing home for the elderly.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Marshall House is a historic home located at Canandaigua in Ontario County, New York. It is a two-story, five bay center hall brick dwelling on a slightly raised basement. Although built in 1844 with later alterations, it has characteristics of the Federal style.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Skenoh Island is located at the north end of Canandaigua Lake, near the city of Canandaigua, New York, United States. It is one of two islands in the 11 Finger Lakes. Frequently it is described as New York's smallest state park; however, while it is one of the state's smallest protected areas, it is not formally designated as a state park, but rather it is a "unique area" managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The island was previously known as Squaw Island until October 2021, when the name was changed to remove the ethnic slur squaw.It formed from the alluvial deposits of nearby Sucker Brook. Limestone from the brook's bedrock dissolved in its waters forms rare lime carbonate oncolites, known locally as "water biscuits", on its shores. Rises in the lake level following the damming of Canandaigua Outlet have reduced the island to a small portion of its former land. The state and local activists have worked together to shore it up against erosion and prevent it from disappearing.

Woodlawn Cemetery is a historic cemetery located at Canandaigua, Ontario County, New York, United States. In June 1884, officers and trustees were elected and the original 28 acres (110,000 m2) of land were purchased from Lucius Wilcox. Over the years, people left adjacent land to the cemetery which now totals 64.4 acres (261,000 m2) in the city and 7 acres (28,000 m2) in the town of Canandaigua and serves as a burial site for more than 13,000 people. The Woodlawn Cemetery chapel was dedicated in 1910. In 2014 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Adelaide Avenue School is a historic school building located at Canandaigua in Ontario County, New York. It was built about 1890 and is a one-story, polychrome brick structure on a raised basement. It features a variety of picturesque late 19th century decorative features in the Queen Anne style, such as a multi-gabled roof surmounted by a louvred cupola. It is a typical example of a late 19th-century ward school, along with the Saltonstall Street School.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Sucker Brook is a short stream that drains into the northwest corner of Canandaigua Lake, New York, United States. It flows in a 6-mile (9.7 km) hairpin-shaped course from uplands in the town of Canandaigua to the lake, in the eponymous city. The name comes from the white sucker fish abundant in its waters. It may have originally drained into another body of water prior to the formation of the lake, which changed its outlet through stream piracy. Lime dissolved in its waters from the limestone bedrock it flows over creates rare oncolites known locally as "water biscuits' on the north shore of Squaw Island, one of two islands in the 11 Finger Lakes, near its mouth. The brook has seen some pollution issues in recent years, as the channel at its mouth has been widened to increase recreational opportunities available in the area.

The park is 1 of 80 New York State Parks that are in the path of totality for the 2024 solar eclipse, with the park experiencing 2 minutes and 51 seconds of totality.

The Benham House is a historic house located at 280-282 South Main Street in Canandaigua, Ontario County, New York.

The building at 426 South Main Street (also New York State Routes 21 and 332) is located in Canandaigua, New York, United States. It is a two-story brick dwelling in the Italianate architectural style built around 1880. In 1984 it and its neighboring barn were listed on the National Register of Historic Places.It is the only remaining house from that era on that block. While its form is Italianate, its upper arches are more typical of Renaissance Revival buildings, a style that was starting to become popular at the time of the building's construction. Its architect is unknown. At the time of its listing on the Register it doubled as a residence and antique shop. Today, however, as at the time of its construction, it is solely used as a residence.
