Van Etten, New York

Van Etten is a hamlet and census-designated place in Chemung County, New York, United States. It was a village that was absorbed by the Town of Van Etten on December 31, 2018. The population was 537 at the 2010 census. The name came from the two brothers who founded the village. The village of Van Etten was in the town of Van Etten near its eastern town line. The village was northeast of Elmira and was part of the Elmira Metropolitan Statistical Area.

First Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located at Spencer in Tioga County, New York. It is a Gothic Revival style, generally rectangular-shaped structure built in 1915. It is constructed of brick with stone trim on a concrete foundation and features a square bell tower at the southwest corner of the building. The interior layout is based upon the Akron plan. It also features 14 stained glass windows designed by Henry Keck of Syracuse, New York. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. The building is occupied by Christ the King Fellowship, a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

New York State Routes 34 and 96 run together through the center of the hamlet, leading north 10 miles (16 km) to Ithaca and south 8 miles (13 km) to Spencer. West Danby is on the west side of the deep valley of Cayuga Inlet, which runs north to Cayuga Lake at Ithaca.

The cemetery includes a variety of monuments dating from the cemetery's founding in about 1880 to the present, with the majority before about 1950. Prior to 1880, the land was a burial ground for the local Presbyterian church.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
