Fairfield is a township in far northwestern Essex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 7,872, an increase of 406 (+5.4%) from the 2010 census count of 7,466, which in turn reflected an increase of 403 (+5.7%) from the 7,063 counted in the 2000 census. Fairfield was the least densely populated town in Essex County in 2020.The first Europeans to settle in the area were Dutch and the place was called Gansegat. Later it was part of Horse Neck and officially part of Newark Township. What is now Fairfield was formed on February 16, 1798, as Caldwell Township from portions of Acquackanonk Township and Newark Township. The area was named for Rev. James Caldwell. It was incorporated as one of New Jersey's initial 104 townships by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 21, 1798. Portions of the township were taken to create Livingston (February 8, 1813), Fairmount Township (March 11, 1862, now part of West Orange), Caldwell borough (February 10, 1892), Verona Township (February 17, 1892, now known and including what is now Cedar Grove), North Caldwell (March 31, 1898), Essex Fells (March 31, 1902) and West Caldwell (February 24, 1904). On November 6, 1963, Caldwell Township was renamed as Fairfield Township, based on the results of a referendum passed the previous day. Fairfield was reincorporated as borough on June 8, 1964. In 1978, the borough passed a referendum reincorporating itself as a township, becoming the second of more than a dozen Essex County municipalities to reclassify themselves as townships in order take advantage of federal revenue sharing policies that allocated townships a greater share of government aid to municipalities on a per capita basis.

John Dods House and Tavern are located in the borough of Lincoln Park in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The house, located at 11 Highland Street, was built in the early 1700s and the tavern, located at 8 Chapel Hill Road, was built around 1770. They were added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 12, 1977, for their significance in social history and transportation.

The Lincoln Park History Museum is an early-20th-century library and historic site located between U.S. Route 202 and the Morris Canal in Lincoln Park, New Jersey. It was built in 1927 as a public library serving the citizens of rural Lincoln Park. Since its decommissioning, it has served a different role as a history museum with exhibits about Lincoln Park, the Morris Canal, and New Jersey. The site features canal sleeper stones, a section of Roebling cable, and a path to the decommissioned Morris Canal. The museum site is a part of the much larger Benjamin Estate which includes the Terhune Benjamin House. The site is owned by the Borough of Lincoln Park and managed by the Lincoln Park Historical Society.

The Terhune Benjamin House was a historic farm and former mill site located in Lincoln Park, New Jersey.

The Fairfield School District is a community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade from Fairfield Township, in Essex County, New Jersey, United States.As of the 2018–19 school year, the district, comprised of two schools, had an enrollment of 669 students and 63.6 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.5:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "GH", the third-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.Students in public school for seventh through twelfth grades attend the West Essex Regional School District, a regional school district in western Essex County serving students from Essex Fells, Fairfield, North Caldwell and Roseland. Schools in the district (with 2018–19 enrollment data from the National Center for Education Statistics) are West Essex Middle School with 564 students in grades 7-8 and West Essex High School with 1,123 students in grades 9-12.

Lincoln Park is a borough in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 10,521, reflecting a decline of 409 (-3.7%) from the 10,930 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn declined by 48 (-0.4%) from the 10,978 counted in the 1990 Census.Lincoln Park was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 11, 1922, from portions of Pequannock Township. The borough was reincorporated on February 26, 1925. The borough was named for President Abraham Lincoln.New Jersey Monthly magazine ranked Lincoln Park as its 5th best place to live in its 2008 rankings of the "Best Places To Live" in the state.

Cricket Hill Brewery is a brewery in Fairfield, New Jersey, USA. Founded in 2000 and opening to the public in 2002 with their flagship beers: East Coast Lager and American Ale. They currently produce Colonel Blide's Bitter and Hopnotic IPA and seasonals, Jersey Summer Breakfast Ale, Fall Festivus, Paymasters Porter, and Maibock. Rick Reed, founder of the New Jersey Beer Rebellion, is the head brewer and CEO. Brad Benson was the company's first brewer, followed by Norbert Walsh and current brewer David Manka, both American Brewers Guild graduates. Cricket Hill actively practices Reinheitsgebot, the Germany beer brewing purity restrictions, and it is known for cask-aging beer.

Lincoln Park is a NJ Transit station in Lincoln Park, New Jersey along the Montclair-Boonton Line. The current station was built by the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad as a Type W-103 structure in 1905 near the overpass of Comly Road.

The Effingham Low House is a historic house located at 102 Hook Mountain Road in the Pine Brook section of the township of Montville in Morris County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 17, 1992, for its significance in architecture. The house was listed as part of the Dutch Stone Houses in Montville, New Jersey Multiple Property Submission (MPS).

Fairfield Dutch Reformed Church is a historic church on Fairfield Road in Fairfield Township, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The congregation was established in 1720 by Dutch settlers. The building dates to 1804 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Essex County Airport (IATA: CDW, ICAO: KCDW, FAA LID: CDW), informally known as Caldwell Airport, is a public use airport located in Fairfield Township, Essex County, New Jersey, two nautical miles (4 km) north of the central business district of Caldwell, a borough of northwestern Essex County in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is owned by the Essex County Improvement Authority. This facility is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation reliever airport.

Towaco is a train station on New Jersey Transit's Montclair-Boonton Line in the Towaco section of Montville Township, New Jersey. The station is located on U.S. Route 202 and Whitehall Roads in Montville.
