Holland Patent Stone Churches Historic District

Holland Patent is a village in Oneida County, New York, United States. The population was 458 at the 2010 census. The village is named after a land grant. The Village of Holland Patent is in the western part of the Town of Trenton at the junction of Routes 274, 291, and 365.

Holland Patent station is a historic train station located at Holland Patent in Oneida County, New York. It was built in 1890 and is a one-story, rectangular, wood-frame building sheathed in board-and-batten siding. It was built by the Utica and Black River Railroad, later acquired by New York Central. It was used until 1960 and now the line is used by the Adirondack Scenic Railroad.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000 as Holland Patent Railroad Station, and according to a plaque on the building exterior, was renovated in 2003.

Holland Patent High School is a U.S. high school located in Holland Patent, New York, a village in Oneida County, central New York State, about 12 miles (19 km) northwest of Utica and 10 miles (16 km) east of Rome. The area served by the school is primarily a residential bedroom community for several small- to medium-sized cities, including Utica, Rome, and Syracuse. 460 students were enrolled in the school as of the 2018–19 school year, with the senior class having 121 members. The average class size is 23. Seven advanced placement courses (English Language and Composition, Government, US History, World History, Biology, Music Theory, Chinese) and are offered in addition to the usual high school curriculum. Holland Patent offers an array of dual-credit classes with Mohawk Valley Community College and two writing courses with Syracuse University Project Advance. The school has an average SAT score of 1094, and an average ACT score of 24. The SAT score is in the 68th percentile, nationally, while the school's ACT composite score is in the 74th percentile, nationally. 72% of the Class of 2018 went on to continue their education. 38% went on to 4-year colleges, 30% went on to 2-year colleges, 2% went on to trade schools, and 2% joined the military. In addition to excellence in the classroom, Holland Patent has a particularly successful sports program. The athletics program at Holland Patent offers 14 boys' sports and 13 girls' sports. The fall 2018 season brought particular success to the Golden Knights. Holland Patent Football captured their first sectional title in 29 years, in addition to their first league title since 1997. Holland Patent Girls' Soccer won their first sectional title, and advanced to the championship match in the NYSPHSAA state tournament, ousting state ranked No. 2 Academy of the Holy Names in a raucous game that resulted in several yellow cards being handed to both teams, a red card to a player from the Academy of the Holy Names, and one parent ejection for screaming obscenities at a ref. The Holland Patent Field Hockey Team (HOPAFIHO) defended their 2017 sectional title. The Holland Patent Lady Aqua Knights (Girls' swim and dive), under the leadership of coach Mark Celecki, finished 2nd at sectionals and sent a slew of teammates to state qualifiers. The boys tennis team proved to be strong in the spring season with an easy victory over undefeated Cooperstown (69-0). In addition to sports, the school offers a co-ed cheer squad for the fall/winter seasons and many arts programs, including music and drama studies. The current principal is Russell E. Stevener, Jr. As of October 2018, there were 41 teaching staff.

Wethersfield Stone Schoolhouse is a historic one room school building located at Trenton in Oneida County, New York. It was built about 1825 and is a vernacular one story, rectangular, gable roofed, stone masonry structure, 26 by 30 feet (7.9 by 9.1 m). It functioned as a public school until 1934. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Pen Bonc Hill is a summit located in Central New York Region of New York located in the Town of Floyd in Oneida County, north-northwest of Holland Patent.

South Hill is a summit located in Central New York Region of New York located in the Towns of Floyd and Western. Located in Oneida County, northwest of Holland Patent. The summit is positioned inside the South Hill State Forest. The 622-acres forest was obtained by the state of New York in the 1950s for the purpose of reforestation, wildlife management, timber production, recreation and watershed protection.

Marcy is a town in Oneida County, New York, United States. The population was 8,777 at the 2020 census. The town was named after Governor William L. Marcy. It lies between the cities of Rome and Utica. The Erie Canal passes through the southern part of the town. The town is home to the SUNY Polytechnic Institute, a four-year public research university in the southeastern part of town.

Floyd is a town in Oneida County, New York, United States. The population was 3,819 at the 2010 census. The town is named after William Floyd, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.The Town of Floyd is located east of the City of Rome and the former Griffiss Air Force Base. The Erie Canal passes along the southern part of the town.

Marcy Hill is a summit located in Central New York Region of New York located in the Town of Marcy. Located in Oneida County, north of Utica.

Mid-State Correctional Facility is located in the Town of Marcy, between the cities of Rome and Utica in New York State. From about 1912 through 1982 the state ran a state asylum on these grounds. That institution would grow to hold 3,000 patients. Mid-State opened as a correctional institution, in the extensive former hospital buildings, in 1983.Mid-State has grown and now includes maximum security SHU-200, opened in 1998. These blocks are called "S" blocks, and consist of prisoners living in cells with bunk beds. These prisoners are let out into their porches for several hours, numerous times throughout every day. The place where they are allowed to go outside mimics their room except that it is outside, and surrounded by a fence. Even though Mid-State has a maximum security building it is still classified as a medium security prison. Mid-State cleared the way for its neighbor, Marcy Correctional Facility, located across the street, and two others, the Oneida Correctional Facility, closed about 2011, and Mohawk Correctional Facility.
