The First Battle of the Corunna Road took place between 29 November and 3 December 1936 during the Spanish Civil War. The Nationalists tried to isolate Madrid from the west, cutting the Corunna Road, but the Republican army repelled the attack.

Pozuelo de Alarcón (Spanish pronunciation: [poˈθwelo ðe alaɾˈkon]) is a municipality in the Community of Madrid, Spain. Bordering the Moncloa-Aravaca district of Madrid proper to its west, Pozuelo de Alarcón is surrounded by large Mediterranean pine-tree forests: the Casa de Campo, the Monte del Pardo, and the Monte del Pilar. Ciudad Deportiva Atlético de Madrid, officially Ciudad Wanda Deportiva Atlético de Madrid is the training ground and academy base of Spanish football club Atlético Madrid. It was officially opened on 13 September 1995. Located in Majadahonda and covering 55,000 m² it is used since 1995 for youth and senior team trainings. It is also home to the mini Estadio Cerro del Espino, which is the home ground of Atlético Madrid B and CF Rayo Majadahonda, both playing in Segunda División B.

The Mini Estadio Cerro del Espino is a multi-use stadium located in Majadahonda, Community of Madrid, Spain. It holds 3800 spectators.It is currently used for football matches and is the home stadium of Atlético Madrid reserve teams and CF Rayo Majadahonda. The venue is part of the Ciudad Deportiva Atlético de Madrid. In the 2018–19 season, Rayo played its first Segunda División campaign at Atlético's Wanda Metropolitano due to the insufficient facilities at the ground.

E-USOC (Spanish User Support and Operations Centre) is a centre of Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) specialized in Research and Development (R&D) activities in the fields of space science and technology. On behalf of the European Space Agency, the centre offers the necessary assistance for the preparation, execution and post-flight analysis of space experiments concerning the Fluid Science Laboratory on board the International Space Station, in the european module Columbus. E-USOC is the point of contact for the Spanish user teams developing experiments which require microgravity environment. Another aim of E-USOC is to provide with information and to promote activities in the field of space sciences and fluid mechanics, giving technical and operation support to researchers and investigation groups which want to carry out experiments in microgravity environments or related space-science. The headquarters is located at Campus de Montegancedo, a research and technological park of the Polytechnic University of Madrid. This building is located on the outskirts at the west of Madrid, in the town of Pozuelo de Alarcón. Pedro Duque, Spanish astronaut and Minister of science, was the E-USOC operations director between 2003-2006.

The Colegio Japonés de Madrid (CJM) (マドリッド日本人学校, Madoriddo Nihonjin Gakkō, Spanish: "Japanese College of Madrid") is a Japanese international school in the El Plantío area of Moncloa-Aravaca, Madrid, in the city's northwestern portion. Many Japanese families, particularly those with children, live in northwest Madrid, in proximity to the school. It was established on September 1, 1981 (Shōwa 56).The Escuela Complementaria Japonesa de Madrid (ECJ; マドリッド補習授業校 Madoriddo Hoshū Jugyō Kō), a Japanese supplementary school, is a part of the CJM. The ECJ was merged into the Madrid Japanese School in April 1996 (Heisei Year 8).As of 2011 the day school had fewer than 30 students, and as of 2012 it had 28 students. It gives progress evaluations to students, ranked 1 through 5, taking into account the students' maturity levels. It does not use suspensions or recoveries. Students who are higher performing help those who need assistance.

Dux Internacional de Madrid, simply known as Internacional or Inter de Madrid, is a male Spanish football team based in Villaviciosa de Odón, in the Community of Madrid. Magerit is one of the most powerful supercomputers in Spain. It also reached the second best Spanish position in the TOP500 list of supercomputers. It is installed in CeSViMa, a research center of the Technical University of Madrid. Magerit was first installed in 2006 and reached the 9th fastest in Europe and the 34th in the world, the second best position of a Spanish supercomputer in the list. It also reached the 275th position in the first Green500 list published. It is no longer among the TOP500. The second version, installed in 2011 reached the 1st position of Spain, 44th of Europe and 136th fastest of the world. It also reached the 18th position in the Green500 list.Magerit (for *Materit or *Mageterit) is the most ancient recorded name of the current city of Madrid. The name comes from the Arabic name of a fortress built on the Manzanares River in the 9th century AD, and means "place of abundant water".
