Rose Hill Heights is a neighborhood east of the central business district of Downtown Columbus, Georgia, United States. The boundaries are generally acknowledged to be 20th Street the north, Warm Springs Road to the south, Woodruff Road to the west and Hamilton Road to the east.

Bibb City is a former company town of the Bibb Manufacturing Company in Muscogee County, Georgia, United States. At the 2000 census, it had a total population of 510. The entire city area, consisting of historic Columbus Mill area and the associated mill village owned by the Bibb Manufacturing Company, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Bibb City Historic District. Bibb City was incorporated in 1909 as a city surrounding—and managed by—the Bibb Manufacturing Company, which operated a textile mill there. After the mill closed in 1998, the city dissolved its charter on December 7, 2000, lacking funding to continue city operations. Bibb City was annexed by the city of Columbus, of which it is now a neighborhood. In September 2006, Bibb City was nominated as an historic district for the National Register of Historic Places by Georgia's State Historic Preservation Officer. On February 14, 2010, the national designation was approved for The Bibb City Historic District and it was listed in the NRHP.

St. Francis Hospital is a general medical and surgical hospital located in Columbus, Georgia, United States, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.

The Secondary Industrial School in Columbus, Georgia is a historic school built in 1906. It was the first secondary-level industrial/vocational school in the United States: it "has been called the nation's first public-supported, coeducational industrial high school." Located at 1112 29th St., the building was designed by J.W. Golucke & Co. in Beaux Arts style. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.It has also been known as S.I.S., as Columbus Junior High, and as Jordan Vocational High. It was a project of Carleton B. Gibson, who became Superintendent of schools in Columbus in 1896.

North Highlands Dam is a structure on the Chattahoochee River at the northern edge of the Columbus, Georgia, United States. It is approximately 4.2 miles (6.8 km) north of 9th Avenue in downtown Columbus. The dam was built in 1899 to provide power for the former Bibb City Mill. It was one of the first large dams constructed in the South. The North Highlands Dam was owned by the Columbus Electric and Power Company, until that utility was purchased by Georgia Power in 1930.

The Shannon Hosiery Mill, Inc. was incorporated in Columbus, GA on November 8, 1938. The one story mill sat on a 5 ½ acre lot 1338 Talbotton Ave in the northeastern side of Columbus. The cost of the buildings and the grounds was around $100,000. It produced silk hosiery for the southeast region of the United States. The first president was N.S. Illges, and vice president was J.P. Illges. Other officers included W.T. Cothran as secretary and treasurer and E.C. Alford as assistant secretary. Shannon Hosiery Mill, Inc. targeted the southeast region. By 1955, J Chadbourn Bolles had become the new president of the mill. The mill facility was sold in 1958. The Muscogee Board of Education purchased the Shannon Hosiery Mill property for $250,000. The building was renovated and became a short-term home for the new junior college, Columbus College. By 1980 the mill site was owned by the Muscogee County School District. In 1988, the old mill building was destroyed, but would not be forgotten. In 2008, a historic marker for the mills was placed off Warm Springs Road. According to the historic marker, "more than 20,000 bricks from the mill's old smokestack were salvaged and cleaned by college faculty, staff and students and were used to line the inner arches of the Whitley Clock Tower, built in 1991 in the center of the CSU main campus." Today, Hannan Academy is located on the site where the old mill stood.

Lake Oliver is a 2,150-acre (8.7 km2) reservoir on the Chattahoochee River, which lies south of Goat Rock Dam (Goat Rock Lake). The lake is created by the Oliver Dam and Generating Plant, which was completed in 1959 by Georgia Power. The lake was named for James McCoy Oliver, an executive of Georgia Power at the time. Oliver Dam has four turbine units, and the dam itself is 70 feet tall and 2,150 feet (660 m) long. At the southern end of the reservoir, Lake Oliver is relatively wide but quickly narrows and becomes almost riverine at the northern end of the lake, at the foot of the Goat Rock Dam upstream. Public access to the lake is limited to one marina owned by the City of Columbus. Since Lake Oliver is entirely within the city limits of Columbus, Georgia, the shore is densely settled on both the Georgia and Alabama sides. Green Island Hills, an upscale development, is located on the lake at the mouth of Standing Boy Creek. Given the amount of settlement, there are many private access points to the lake. In the summer, the lake is very crowded with recreational activity. The other three seasons usually see anglers fishing for sunfish. Lake Oliver also serves as the municipal water supply for Columbus. The location of Oliver Dam is approximately at the Fall Line of the Chattahoochee River. Between Oliver Dam and the downtown Columbus, a few miles downstream, the river drops nearly 100 feet (30 m) in elevation. Lake Oliver is the northernmost point of the Chattahoochee Riverwalk a fifteen-mile long bicycle pathway that extends southward to Fort Benning.

Roaring Branch is a stream in the U.S. state of Georgia. It empties into Lake Oliver.A variant name is "Roaring Creek". The name Roaring Creek first appeared in the 1820s.

The Ingersoll Shale is a Late Cretaceous (Santonian) informal geological unit in eastern Alabama. Fourteen theropod feathers assigned to birds and possibly dromaeosaurids have been recovered from the unit.
