Museum of the Asturian People

The International Bagpipe Museum (Spanish: Museo internacional de la gaita) is located in Gijón, Asturias, Spain. The museum was founded in 1965, and moved to its current location, integrated in the Museum of the Asturian People, in 1975. The museum houses a large collection of bagpipes from Spain, and from the remainder of Europe, Africa, and Asia. Additionally, the museum features items related to Asturian music.

Palacio de Deportes de Gijón, officially Palacio de Deportes Presidente Adolfo Suárez, is a multi-purpose sports arena in Gijón, Asturias, Spain. Located in the neighbourhood of La Guía, thus also called, has 5,197 seats and a maximum capacity of 7,000 people. It is owned by the Gijón City Hall. The arena has also a second court with a capacity of 500 spectators and different halls for practicing several sports like martial arts, weightlifting, snooker, squash, fencing or boxing. It has ten locker rooms and four more for referees.

Estadio El Molinón (Spanish pronunciation: [esˈta.ðjo el mo.liˈnon]), officially Estadio Municipal El Molinón-Enrique Castro "Quini", is an association football stadium in Gijón, Asturias, Spain. The stadium is the home ground of Real Sporting de Gijón. With a capacity of 29,371 seats, El Molinón is the 20th largest stadium in Spain and the second largest in Asturias.

The Plaza de Toros de El Bibio is a bullring located in Gijón, Asturias, Spain. Situated in the neighbourhood of El Bibio, it was inaugurated on August 12, 1888, with a bullfighting with Luis Mazzantini and Rafael Guerra, Guerrita.The bullring was partially destroyed between July and August 1936, in the context of Spanish Civil War. In August 1937, after the city was taken by the Nationalist faction, Francoist troops used its ruins as a temporary concentration camp for Republican prisoners.It was renovated in 1997. On March 20, 1992, it was declared Bien de Interés Cultural.Apart from bullfighting, the ring is also used for music concerts.

Gijón (or, in Asturian, Xixón; official name: Gijón/Xixón) is one of eight comarcas (this is the Spanish word; the Asturian is cotarros), administrative divisions of Asturias, which is a province and an autonomous community in Spain . The comarca of Gijón is divided into three municipalities (in Asturian conceyos). From east to west they are: Villaviciosa Gijón / Xixón Carreño

Gijón Polytechnic School of Engineering (Spanish: Escuela Politécnica de Ingeniería de Gijón; Asturian: Escuela Politéunica d'Inxeniería de Xixón), is one of the schools and faculties of the University of Oviedo. The school is located in Gijón, Asturias (Spain). In the academic year 2011-12 the school had 4,769 students enrolled, being the educational center of the University of Oviedo with more students.

Unión Club Ceares is a Spanish football team based in the neighbourhood of Ceares, Gijón, in the autonomous community of Asturias. Founded in 1946, it plays in Tercera Federación – Group 2, holding home games at Campo de La Cruz, which has a capacity of 1,500 spectators.

The Universidad Laboral de Gijón (Asturian: Universidá Llaboral de Xixón) is a large building located in Gijón (Asturias, Spain) in the parish of Cabueñes. Originally built as a learning center for orphans, it currently hosts several cultural institutions.

LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial (Art and Industrial Creation Centre) is an exhibition centre in Gijón, Spain, for art, science, technology and advanced visual industries. It is also a venue for artistic and technological production, research investigation and training; and for the dissemination of new forms of art and industrial creation.The museum's programme of activities mirrors the changes society is undergoing and its immersion in contemporary visual culture.

The Campo Valdés Roman baths were public baths constructed in Gijón, Spain, near the end of the first century. They fell out of use in the fourth century before being used as a necropolis and covered by a plaza. In 1903, the baths were rediscovered and excavated during the construction of a sewer system in the area. The site of the baths was turned into a museum, which opened in March 1995. The site was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural in 1987, and the museum was Gijón's most visited in 2023.

Cimavilla (Spanish: Cimadevilla) is a neighbourhood of the municipality of Gijón, in Asturias, Spain. Its population was 2,811 in 2012.Cimavilla is the oldest part of the city, in it there are ruins of the old Roman settlement. In the 16th century, a port is built in the neighbourhood and it converts it in a residential area for sailors and starts the expansion of Gijón to the south. In the East of Cimavilla is located the Royal Astur Yacht Club, with the first swimming pool of Gijón, built in the first years of the 20th century. Nowadays, Cimavilla's houses are rehabilitated and the neighbourhood is a residential, commercial and leisure area. At the top of the hill is located the Elogio del Horizonte (Eulogy to the Horizon), built by Eduardo Chillida.

Castiello Bernueces is a parish of the municipality of Gijón / Xixón, in Asturias, Spain. Its population was 740 in 2003 and 1,070 in 2012. A traditionally rural area, nowadays mainly residential, Castiello Bernueces is located on south of the city and borders Vega, Santurio and Granda in the south, and Somió and Cabueñes in the northeastern side. In this parish is located the local Campus of the University of Oviedo.
