Haverford School

Whitehall Apartments is a historic apartment building located at Haverford in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1925–1926, and is a large, 3 1/2-story, "E"-shaped stucco building in the Mission Revival style. It features wrought iron balconies, blue decorative tile featuring scenes of Christopher Columbus, and red tile roof caps.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Friends School Haverford is a private, Quaker elementary school near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania which educates students in Grades Nursery School (starting at 2 years 7 months) through Fifth Grade. The school was founded in 1885, and is the oldest Quaker school on Philadelphia's Main Line. Grades Nursery School to Kindergarten are in one building, while grades first grade to eighth grade are in the main building. Friends School Haverford is under the care of Haverford Monthly Meeting of Friends.

Haverford College ( HAV-ər-fərd) is a private liberal arts college in Haverford, Pennsylvania. It was founded as a men's college in 1833 by members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), began accepting non-Quakers in 1849, and became coeducational in 1980. The college offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in 31 majors across humanities, social sciences and natural sciences disciplines. It is a member of the Tri-College Consortium, which includes Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore colleges, as well as the Quaker Consortium, which includes those schools as well as the University of Pennsylvania.All the college's approximately 1300 students are undergraduates, and nearly all reside on campus. Social and academic life is governed by an honor code and influenced by Quaker philosophy. Its 216-acre (87 ha) suburban campus has predominantly stone Quaker Colonial Revival architecture. The college's athletics teams compete as the Fords in the Centennial Conference of NCAA Division III. Roslin House in Haverford, Pennsylvania, United States, was built in 1911 for Horace B. Forman Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth Chandlee Forman. The Philadelphia Quaker architect William L. Price designed and built the house from sketches provided by the Formans. Dr. H. Chandlee Forman, son of Horace and Elizabeth, donated the house to Haverford College in 1948.Since then, it has served as Haverford College's La Casa Hispánica, "a Special Interest House which supports the endeavors of students actively engaged in organizing programs concerned with the cultures and civilizations of the Spanish-speaking world."Built of cut stone, the three-story Gothic Revival house is designed after Roslin Castle and Chapel in Scotland. Its font (east) facade features a pair of extended gabled pavilions. A two-story turret containing the main staircase, and a hooded entry porch project from the southern extended gable. Extending south perpendicularly from this gable is the home's interior showpiece: a dramatic two-story living space containing a vaulted ceiling, exposed wood beams, floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, and balcony around the perimeter of the second floor.

Haverford College (CDP) is a census-designated place located in Haverford Township, Delaware County, and Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It corresponds to the campus of Haverford College, located on the southwest side of U.S. Route 30, about 10 miles (16 km) northwest of the city of Philadelphia. As of the 2010 census the population was 1,331.

The Pennsylvania Lawn Tennis Championships was a tennis tournament played at the Merion Cricket Club in Haverford, Pennsylvania. The first edition was held in 1894. It was part of the Eastern Grass Court Circuit, a series of grass court tournaments on the American Eastern Seaboard in the lead up to the U. S. National Championships which also included Rye/South Orange, Meadow Club, Newport Casino, and others. The men's events were part of the Grand Prix tennis circuit from 1970–1974, before which they were amateur events. They were held on outdoor hard courts from 1970–72 and grass courts from 1973–1974.

Merion Cricket Club is a private club in Haverford, Pennsylvania, founded in 1865. The current clubhouse is its sixth, the last four having been designed by Philadelphia architect Frank Furness and his partner, Allen Evans, who was also a founder of the club. The club was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987 for its leading role in the promotion, development and continued support of cricket, golf, squash, and tennis in the United States.

The Philadelphia Skating Club and Humane Society is the oldest figure skating club in the United States.

The Philadelphia Main Line, known simply as the Main Line, is an informally delineated historical and social region of suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Lying along the former Pennsylvania Railroad's once prestigious Main Line, it runs northwest from Center City Philadelphia parallel to Lancaster Avenue (U.S. Route 30). The railroad first connected the Main Line towns in the 19th century. They became home to sprawling country estates belonging to Philadelphia's wealthiest families, and over the decades became a bastion of "old money". Today, the Main Line includes some of the wealthiest communities in the country, including Gladwyne, Villanova, Radnor, and Ardmore. Today, the railroad is Amtrak's Keystone Corridor, along which SEPTA's Paoli/Thorndale Line operates.

Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church is a church in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania; founded in 1873, it is currently a 2,500 member church of the PC(USA). It is located on the Main Line, just west of Philadelphia. Being a large congregation, the church is active seven days a week.Worship in Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church is traditional: the architecture includes stained glass windows, and the music is provided by a pipe organ and choir, which is directed by Jeffrey Brillhart. Besides worship on Sunday mornings, the congregation takes part in a variety of opportunities for faith enrichment, education, fellowship, and outreach on behalf of others. Haverford station is a SEPTA rapid transit station in Haverford Township, Pennsylvania. It serves the Norristown High Speed Line (Route 100) and is located at Haverford Road and Buck Lane. Local and express (but not limited) trains stop at Haverford. The station lies near the campus of Haverford College and the Haverford School. The station lies 4.5 track miles from 69th Street Terminal. The station has off-street parking available.
