Old Homer Village Historic District

Homer is a town in Cortland County, New York, United States of America. The population was 6,405 at the 2010 census. The name is from the Greek poet Homer.The town of Homer contains a village called Homer. The town is situated on the west border of Cortland County, immediately north of the city of Cortland.

Water, Wall, and Pine Streets Lenticular Truss Bridges is a national historic district and set of Lenticular truss bridges located at Homer in Cortland County, New York. The district includes a series of three bridges built in 1881 over the Tioughnioga River by the Corrugated Metal Co. of East Berlin, Connecticut.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

US Post Office-Homer is a historic post office building located at Homer in Cortland County, New York. It was built in 1937-1938 and is one of a number of post offices in New York State designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department, Louis A. Simon. It is a one-story, steel frame, five bay rectangular building clad in brick on a stucco clad foundation in the Colonial Revival style. The interior features a mural by Frank Romanelli in 1940 titled "Albany Street Bridge over Tioughnioga River." It is located within the boundaries of the Old Homer Village Historic District.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Homer Central High School is a grades 9-12 high school which is part of the Homer Central School District in Homer, New York. The current principal is Douglas VanEtten with Jim McGory appointed as vice principal. Tammy Reed is the administrative secretary. The school mascot is a Trojan warrior.Homer Central High School traces its history back to 1819, when it was known as Cortland Academy.Homer Central High School has a total of 1,951 students as of 2017-2018

The Glenwood Cemetery in the village of Homer, New York is a historic rural cemetery which was established in 1867. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019.The village of Homer is within the town of Homer in Cortland County, New York. Some previous burials from another location were relocated to the cemetery after it was formally established.A first cemetery association in Homer was established in 1847; many of its early burials were later removed to the Glenwood Cemetery, whose association was incorporated in 1862. A plaque near the entrance to the cemetery states that "Glenwood was opened and named in the year of 1867 by Paris Barber 1814–1876, a public spirited citizen of Homer New York." The Village of Homer took over management of the cemetery in 1946, upon request from the association. Eventually a Village Cemetery Commission, part of the Village of Homer, took over responsibility to oversee the cemetery.It was deemed significant for NRHP listing for reasons including that its landscape design was deemed "a representative intact example of a mid-nineteenth century Rural Cemetery with portions at extreme east and west ends reflecting twentieth century design trends in cemetery management." Another reason was its architecture, specifically it having three significant buildings, one being the combination of the Earle Abbey Mausoleum (1923) and its receiving vault (1906).

Cortland Regional Medical Center was ranked the top hospital in New York State by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid in 2015 and 2017. The William J. Greenman House is a historic home located at Cortland in Cortland County, New York. It was built in 1896, and based on a pattern book plan by architect George Franklin Barber. It is a 2½-story, Queen Anne-style frame dwelling. It is sheathed in clapboard and sits on a stone foundation. It features exuberant wood trim, decorative shingles and half-timbering; a wraparound porch with a circular section topped by a bell-shaped roof; and projecting bay windows. Also on the property is a contributing carriage house.: 3 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Cortland, New York, also known as "The Old Cobblestone Church," is an historic cobblestone church building located at 3 Church Street in Cortland, New York, United States. Built in 1837, the building was established as a Universalist church. Since 1961, the congregation has been a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association due to a denominational merger. The Unitarian Universalist Church of Cortland was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.It has cobblestone walls and granite quoins. In 1895, a large arch was cut in the east cobblestone wall and a Morey and Barnes organ was set in the arch. This historic organ is one of only two such historic organs remaining. It is nationally recognized by the American Organ Historical Society for its superb sound and nearly original condition. The building was documented by Historic American Buildings Survey photographer Jack Boucher in 1966. It is one of only 21 surviving cobblestone religious buildings in New York State. It is also the oldest public building still in use in Cortland, NY. "The Town of Cortlandville contributed $100 toward construction of the church in return for the use of the church basement as the Town Hall. The Town retained use of the basement until the 1880s."

It is constructed of brick in the Georgian Revival style and built in 1928. The entrance is marked by a projecting portico with four columns.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.The Library offers a unique Dial-A-Story services that provides 24/7 access to recorded content. Patrons can call 607-838-4567 from any phone and use the menu to navigate to various recordings. Children will especially enjoy story time on Dial-A-Story as it requires no internet access to use.

Cortland Fire Headquarters is a historic fire station located at Cortland in Cortland County, New York. It is a three-story, predominantly rectangular structure, consisting of stepped gables, square bell tower, yellow faced brick, and tiled roof, built in 1914. The first floor houses fire apparatus, the second serves as quarters for firefighters, and the third is a meeting hall and training area, as well as the home for the special operations division.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
