Fairmont Municipal Airport (FAA LID: 4G7), also known as Frankman Field, is a public use airport located two nautical miles (4 km) southwest of the central business district of Fairmont, a city in Marion County, West Virginia, United States. It is owned by the Fairmont-Marion County Regional Airport Authority. This airport is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation facility.

East Fairmont High School is a public high school in Pleasant Valley, United States, just east of Fairmont. The school has been known also as East Side High.The school is classified as "AA". Its school colors are blue and gold, and the athletic teams are known as the Bees. It is one of three high schools still active in Marion County, along with Fairmont Senior High School and North Marion High School. It is fed by East Fairmont Middle School.

Pierpont Community & Technical College (Pierpont) is a public community college in Fairmont, West Virginia. Founded in 1974, it has the second largest enrollment of the community and technical colleges that make up the West Virginia Community and Technical College System. The college serves 13 counties in North Central West Virginia (Barbour, Braxton, Calhoun, Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison, Lewis, Marion, Monongalia, Preston, Randolph, Taylor and Upshur) with classes offered at more than 15 locations throughout the region. Its headquarters is located in Fairmont, West Virginia. The student/faculty ratio is 17:1. Pierpont is part of the state's growing high technology corridor with a metro area of about 50,000 residents. With an enrollment of more than 3,000, Pierpont offers more than 40 associate degree programs, skill sets and one-year certificates. It specializes in preparing students in two years or less for practical hands-on careers and provides non-credit enrichment courses for individuals and customized workplace trainings for local employers.

Incorporated in 1989, White Hall is adjacent to the county seat, Fairmont, and is part of the Fairmont, West Virginia, Micropolitan Statistical Area. White Hall has many different stores and restaurants.

Watson is an unincorporated community in Marion County, West Virginia, United States. Its post office is closed. The community was named after Joseph Watson, the original owner of the town site.

Country Club Bakery is a bakery located in Fairmont, West Virginia, which is where the pepperoni roll originated. The bakery is currently located on Country Club Road. The pepperoni roll is a snack popular in West Virginia and some nearby regions of the Appalachian Mountains.Because of the pepperoni's roll's origins in the town, Fairmont has dubbed itself the "pepperoni roll capital of the world". In 2020, in honor of the store and snack's legacy, a marker was put up in Fairmont that states, “West Virginia delicacy created by Italian families in Fairmont to feed local coal miners. Variants now popular statewide.”

NASA's Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) Program was established in 1993 as part of an agency-wide strategy to provide the highest achievable levels of safety and cost-effectiveness for mission critical software. NASA's IV&V Program was founded under the NASA Office of Safety and Mission Assurance (OSMA) as a direct result of recommendations made by the National Research Council (NRC) and the Report of the Presidential Commission on the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. Since then, NASA's IV&V Program has experienced growth in personnel, projects, capabilities, and accomplishments. NASA IV&V efforts have contributed to NASA's improved safety record since the program's inception. Today, Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) is an Agency-level function, delegated from OSMA to Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) and managed by NASA IV&V. NASA's IV&V Program's primary business, software IV&V, is sponsored by OSMA as a software assurance technology. Having been reassigned as GSFC, NASA IV&V is Code 180 (Center Director's direct report). NASA's IV&V Program houses approximately 270 employees and leverages the expertise of in-house partners and contractors. Its facilities are located in Fairmont, West Virginia. In the summer, high school and college interns are employed in addition. On February 22, 2019, the facility was renamed to the Katherine Johnson Independent Verification and Validation Facility in honor of Katherine Johnson, an African-American woman who worked as a mathematician at NASA for 35 years and who is featured in the 2016 film Hidden Figures.

Pettyjohn was an unincorporated community in Marion County, West Virginia, United States. Founded by Captain David Morgan in 1776. The town had its own ferry, salt works, mail drop, trading post, and David built one of his many houses here.

East–West Stadium is a football stadium in Fairmont, West Virginia, United States, that is operated and owned by the Marion County Board of Education. The stadium was built in 1938 using Works Progress Administration funding. It is the home outdoor athletic facility for the city's two high schools, Fairmont Senior High School and East Fairmont High School, hosting each school's football, soccer, lacrosse, and track teams.
