Robert Pratt (December 12, 1845 – August 8, 1908) was an educator and the 18th mayor of Minneapolis. Pratt was born in Brandon, Vermont in 1845. During the American Civil War he served with the 5th Vermont Infantry. Shortly after the war, he relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota where he served as an alderman, member of the park board, and longtime member of the Board of Education. He was also elected mayor in 1894 and re-elected in 1896. Pratt died on August 8, 1908. He is buried in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.Pratt School in the Prospect Park neighborhood of Minneapolis is named after his son, Sidney Pratt, who was killed in the Spanish–American War.

James Gray (February 18, 1862 – September 8, 1916) was a journalist and the 19th mayor of Minneapolis.

Edward Charles Babb (February 1, 1834 – March 9, 1899) was an American Civil War veteran and businessman who served as the 15th mayor of Minneapolis.

William Henry Eustis (July 17, 1845 – November 30, 1928) was the 17th mayor of Minneapolis, Republican nominee for Governor of Minnesota in 1898, and a philanthropist.

Herbert Butros Khaury (April 12, 1932 – November 30, 1996), also known as Herbert Buckingham Khaury, and known professionally as Tiny Tim, was an American singer, ukulele player, and musical archivist. He is best remembered for his 1968 hit "Tiptoe Through the Tulips", which he sang in a falsetto voice.

East Bde Maka Ska is a neighborhood within the Calhoun-Isles community in the U.S. city of Minneapolis. It was formerly known as East Calhoun prior to August 2021. The neighborhood is located south of the East Isles neighborhood and its northern portion along with parts of the East Isles, Lowry Hill East, and South Uptown neighborhoods forms the city's Uptown district. East Bde Maka Ska is bordered on the north by Lake Street, on the east by Hennepin Avenue, on the south by West 36th Street and on the west by Bde Maka Ska.

The Bde Maka Ska Public Art Project is part of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board's Bde Maka Ska–Harriet Master Plan. In parallel with (but separate from) the restoring the name of Lake Calhoun to its Dakota name, Bde Maka Ska, a public art project was initiated to commemorate Ḣeyata Oṭuŋwe, a 19th-century Dakota agricultural community on the southeast bank of Bde Maka Ska, and its founder, Dakota leader Maḣpiya Wic̣aṡṭa (Cloud Man).

The Minnesota Zen Meditation Center (Kounzan Ganshoji, "Cultivating Clouds Mountain, Living in Vow Temple") is an urban, non-residential, Sōtō Zen practice community in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Since 2019, MZMC has been led by two co-guiding Dharma teachers, Tim Burkett and Ted O'Toole.

The Southwest community consists of the following neighborhoods: Linden Hills, East Harriet, Kingfield, Fulton, Lynnhurst, Tangletown, Armatage, Kenny, and Windom. This portion of Minneapolis contains many parks and trails along Lake Harriet and Minnehaha Creek.

South Uptown is a residential neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 2018, the neighborhood voted to change its name to South Uptown from its former name CARAG (Calhoun Area Residents' Action Group). Other potential names for the neighborhood included "Bryant Park" and "Bryant Square". The Minneapolis City Council approved the name change in November 2018.South Uptown is part of the Calhoun Isles community of the city, in the southeastern part of that community. It is located directly south of Lowry Hill East and directly east of East Calhoun. Its boundaries are Lake Street to the north, Lyndale Avenue to the east, 36th Street to the south, and Hennepin Avenue to the west. South Uptown, Lowry Hill East, East Calhoun and East Isles form the business district of Uptown.

The Theodore Wirth House is a house in Minneapolis, Minnesota, that was home to Theodore Wirth, an architect of the Minneapolis park system, and also served as the administration building for the park system. Wirth was superintendent of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board from 1906 through 1935, when he retired, and he continued to serve as superintendent emeritus until his death in 1949. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. The house was recognized for Wirth's status as an international figure in the field of park design, for its role in bringing Wirth to Minneapolis, and for the work he did in the offices where he designed or redesigned the Minneapolis parks.When Charles Loring originally approached Wirth to come to Minneapolis in 1905, Wirth was reluctant to accept the offer. His employer at the time, the city of Hartford, Connecticut, provided Wirth and his family a mansion in Elizabeth Park. Minneapolis did not have a home to provide, and as a civil servant, Wirth was unable to replace that benefit. During the process of negotiations, Loring agreed that the park board would build a home for Wirth. The home was to be located in Lyndale Farmstead Park. Wirth agreed to these terms and moved to Minneapolis in 1906. The house was designed by local architect Lowell Lamoreaux.

East Harriet is a neighborhood in the Southwest community in Minneapolis. Its boundaries are West 36th Street to the north, Lyndale Avenue South to the east, West 46th Street to the south, and Lake Harriet, Lakewood Cemetery, and William Berry Parkway to the west. The home of Theodore Wirth, longtime architect of the Minneapolis park system, is located on the west side of this neighborhood.
