The Edith B. Ford Memorial Library is a rural library in Ovid, New York. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in May 2018.

Ovid is a village in and one of the two county seats of Seneca County, New York, United States. The population was 602 at the 2010 census. The town was named by a clerk interested in the classics (see Ovid). The Village of Ovid is within the Town of Ovid, but a small portion is in the Town of Romulus, and is southeast of Geneva, New York.

Though none of the lakes' widths exceed 3.5 miles (5.6 km), Seneca Lake is 38.1 miles (61.3 km) long, and 66.9 square miles (173 km2), the largest in total area.

David and Mary Kinne Farmstead is a historic home and farm complex located at Ovid in Seneca County, New York. The complex consists of a Greek Revival style farmhouse and seven historic agricultural outbuildings. By family tradition, the house is believed to have been built about 1850 and is believed to have been used as a stop on the Underground Railroad. The outbuildings all date to the mid- to late-19th century and include an outhouse, machine shop, carriage house, horse barn, scale house, gambrel roof barn, and machine shed.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Aaron Wilson House is a historic home located at Ovid in Seneca County, New York. It is a five bay wide, two story, center hall stone dwelling built about 1835 in the Federal style. Also on the property is a huge, gambrel roofed dairy barn, a machine shed, and frame pumphouse.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

The LORAN-C transmitter Seneca was the master station of the Northeastern United States LORAN-C Chain (GRI 9960) and the X-Ray secondary station of the Great Lakes Chain (GRI 8970). It was located within the Seneca Army Depot in Romulus, New York, south of Geneva. It used a 1000-kilowatt, 742-foot (226.2 m) guyed mast that was constructed in 1977 and dedicated on August 2, 1978. The station was operated by United States Coast Guard and was located on a 250-acre (1.0 km2) piece of land within the 10,587-acre (42.84 km2) facility. The transmitter was used to guide ships and aircraft up to 1,000 miles (1,600 km) away. It was the first LORAN station to use solid-state electronics versus vacuum tube components.The station, was shut down for good on February 9, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. EST. The tower was dismantled shortly after decommissioning of the LORAN-C system and was stacked in pieces next to the transmitter building awaiting further disposition.

The town is in the southern part of the county, extending between Seneca Lake to the west and Cayuga Lake to the east, and southeast of Geneva, New York.

Bonavista State Park Golf Course is a 247-acre (1.00 km2) state park and golf course located in the Town of Ovid, just west of the Village of Ovid, New York, United States. The park is located between Sampson State Park and Seneca Lake State Park and overlooks Seneca Lake.

Willard is a hamlet primarily in the Town of Romulus, Seneca County, New York, United States on the Ovid town line. It is located two miles (3 km) west of the Village of Ovid, at an elevation of 600 feet (183 m). The primary intersection in the hamlet is at N.Y. Route 96A and Main Street (CR 132). The community overlooks Seneca Lake. Government offices for the Town of Romulus are located in the hamlet.Willard is the location of the historic Willard Asylum for the Chronic Insane, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A United States Post Office is located in Willard, with a ZIP Code of 14588.

The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (NYSDOCCS) is the department of the New York State government that maintains the state prisons and parole system. As stated by the Department, it is "responsible for the care, confinement, and rehabilitation" of approximately 31,400 incarcerated people at 52 prisons funded by the State of New York, and supervises approximately 35,300 parolees at seven regional offices. The department employs a staff of approximately 28,000 individuals, including approximately 18,200 uniformed correction officers. Its regulations are compiled in title 7 of the New York Codes, Rules and Regulations. In response to falling crime rates and prison populations in New York State, the Department has closed a number of facilities since 2009. Since 2011, nearly 20 prisons have been closed, with plans for additional facility closures based on the continued decline in the number of incarcerated individuals in the state. On April 1, 2011, the New York State Division of Parole merged with the New York State Department of Correctional Services to form the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
