Morrell Canyon Creek is a stream or Arroyo, tributary to San Juan Creek, located in the Cleveland National Forest in Riverside County, California, at an elevation of 3,080 ft (939 m), in the Elsinore Mountains northeast of Elsinore Peak. It arises on the eastern slope of San Mateo Peak. An eastern fork draining the Morrell Potrero joins it a little over a mile north of its source and then flows northwestward about a third of a mile where it turns southeast descending the narrow Morrell Canyon east of Lion Spring. After descending 2.5 miles it turns north for half a mile then returns to a southwestern direction for another mile, the canyon widening here until it turns northwestward and down a steep canyon again for half a mile where it takes in from the right Decker Canyon Creek and Long Canyon Creek. It then turns southwestward again into a wider canyon and descends to its confluence with Bear Canyon Creek and becomes the head of San Juan Creek.

Rancho Potreros de San Juan Capistrano was a 1,168-acre (4.73 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Orange County and Riverside County, California given in 1845 by Governor Pío Pico to John Forster. The grant was composed of three detached tracts, called (from north to south), Rancho Potrero los Pinos (523 acres (2.1 km2)), Rancho Potrero el Cariso (168 acres (0.7 km2)), and Rancho Potrero de la Cienega (477 acres (1.9 km2)). The grants were located in the Santa Ana Mountains in the present-day Cleveland National Forest in the southeast corner of the Orange County and western Riverside County.

San Mateo Peak is the unofficially named 3,591-foot (1,095 m) peak, at the western end of the ridge running west then northwest from Elsinore Peak to Morrell Canyon, south and west of the Morrell Potrero in the Elsinore Mountains of the Santa Ana Mountain Range. The peak name was given by Sierra Club Lower Peaks Committee Guide, originally named by Ken Croker who for 20 years maintained trails in the Santa Ana Mountains with volunteers from the Sierra Club. It remains officially nameless despite being the highest summit in the Elsinore Mountains, higher than Elsinore Peak, at 3536 ft., the highest named peak in those mountains.San Mateo Creek has its source at an elevation of 2800 feet, in the canyon on the western face of this peak. A fork of Morrell Canyon Creek, a tributary of San Juan Creek, has its source on the northeast face of this peak as do several arroyos descending to the west from the peak into that same creek. An unnamed arroyo, also tributary to San Mateo Creek has its source on the southwest face of ridge descending to the south from this peak.

Rancho Potrero de la Cienaga is one of the three ranchos that made up the Rancho Potreros de San Juan Capistrano. Its boundary included in the spring watered mountain valley pastures of Round Potrero and Potrero de la Cienaga, in the upper reach of San Mateo Creek in the Santa Ana Mountains in the present day Cleveland National Forest in western Riverside County, United States.

Lakeside High School is a public high school located in Lake Elsinore, California and is part of the Lake Elsinore Unified School District. Lakeside High School has been rated as one of the top 10 most beautiful high school campuses in California.

Butterfield Elementary School was a publicly funded grade school in the Lake Elsinore Unified School District, in California, USA. It was named after the old Butterfield Overland Stage route which runs in front of the school. It provided many innovative programs to its students. In 1995, Butterfield became the new home of the first Elementary Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Magnet School Program in Riverside County (its first home had been Elsinore Elementary School). Coincidentally, the second VAPA school program in Riverside County started in September 1991 at Butterfield School of the Arts in the Moreno Valley Unified School District, in Moreno Valley, CA Butterfield Elementary School received many grants and awards, especially in the performing arts field. Students from Butterfield performed with well-known groups and celebrities, such as The Young Americans and Mark Wahlberg. This school closed permanently on June 3, 2010, after 28 years of service to the community. The entire student and teacher population (along with the same attendance boundaries) moved 3 miles south to the campus of Lakeland Village Middle School which was renamed Lakeland Village School as it became a K-8 school. This was basically a relocation of the Butterfield Community into a new location, which was to an underused four-year-old middle school building. The school kept the same students and teachers, although the classified staff and the principal changed. Two-thirds of the existing middle school population of students and teachers moved to different schools. The Butterfield name and history were carried forward in the renaming of the Lakeland Village auditorium as the Butterfield Performing Arts Center, although the Butterfield Community continued on under the new name. A renaissance of Butterfield Elementary by the Fall of 2015 was planned, as the LEUSD hired an architectural firm and construction company to rebuild the campus. It was expected that some primary grades would return to the campus for the 2015/16 year and the rest of the campus would reopen to Grades up through the 6th grade by the fall of 2016. At that time Lakeland Village School would have reformed as a 7th/8th grade Junior High Campus, as the remaining elementary students would have returned to Butterfield. However, after investigation by the planning and architectural firms, it was decided that reconstruction costs would be too high to deal with possible seismic refits and the plan to reopen the school has been cancelled. The idea of a Butterfield Renaissance appears to now be dead. The site has been purchased by Riverside County to be used as a Community Center which will be called the Lakeland Village Community Center. The Grand Opening of the Lakeland Village Community Center officially took place on June 11, 2016, 6 years after the closing day of Butterfield Elementary. The beautiful student murals have all been painted over and many trees have been cut down. The portable classrooms are in the process of being removed, and the modular classrooms are being renovated. The Butterfield School Library has been converted into a Fitness/Dance Room; the Staff Lounge has become an Arts & Crafts Room, and the Teacher Workroom has become the Tots Room. The old Health Office is now a Reading Room. The Multipurpose Room has had beautiful wood floors installed and a wheelchair lift has been added for access to the stage.

Los Pinos Peak is a 4,455-foot (1,358 m) summit in the Santa Ana Mountains in Orange County, California, about 8 miles (13 km) east of Rancho Santa Margarita. Los Pinos is the southernmost peak above 4,000 feet (1,200 m) in the Santa Anas, and provides extensive views south towards San Diego and the Pacific Ocean as well as views (on clear days) of the San Jacinto Mountains and San Bernardino Mountains in the east. The summit rises rather prominently above the main crest of the Santa Anas and is conspicuously visible from much of southern Orange County, although its actual topographic prominence is only about 610 feet (186 m).The peak is situated in the Cleveland National Forest and is accessible by the Main Divide Road (a fire road); the Trabuco Canyon Trail, which begins near Trabuco Creek, and the Los Pinos Peak Trail, which begins in Hot Springs Canyon (near San Juan Canyon, San Juan Creek and the Ortega Highway (State Route 74).

Rancho Capistrano, is a private, gated community surrounded by the Cleveland National Forest, in Riverside County, California.It is located within the Morrell Potrero, in the Elsinore Mountains, northwest of Elsinore Peak. The potrero, drained by Morrell Canyon Creek, a tributary of San Juan Creek, was originally the site of the Morrell Ranch. It was developed as a gated community in 1969.

Morrell Potrero is a flat located in the Cleveland National Forest in Riverside County, California. It has an elevation of approximately 3,041 ft (927 m) in the Elsinore Mountains northwest of Elsinore Peak. It is drained by Morrell Canyon Creek, a tributary of San Juan Creek.

Rancho La Laguna was a 13,339-acre (53.98 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Riverside County, California given in 1844 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to Julian Manriquez. The rancho lands are included in the present day city of Lake Elsinore and Wildomar. At the time of the US Patent, Rancho Laguna was a part of San Diego County. The County of Riverside was created by the California Legislature in 1893 by taking land from both San Bernardino and San Diego Counties.

The Elsinore Trough is a graben rift valley in Riverside County, southern California. It is created by the Elsinore Fault Zone. It is located between the Santa Ana Mountains to the west, and the Temescal Mountains of the Perris Block and the Temecula Basin to the east. This graben valley is broken into a series of sections by transverse faults. These smaller graben valleys are the Temescal Valley, Elsinore Valley, Temecula Valley and Wolf Valley.The cities of Corona, Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, Temecula, and Wildomar; the census-designated place of Temescal Valley; and the Reservation of the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Mission Indians are located in the Elsinore Trough.

The Elsinore Mountains are a ridge of mountains within the larger range of the Santa Ana Mountains, in the Cleveland National Forest, Riverside County, California, United States. the tallest peaks within the range is the unofficially named San Mateo Peak at 3,591 ft (1,095 m). Second is officially named Elsinore Peak at 3,536 ft (1,078 m). The Elsinore Mountanins run in a ridge from just east of El Cariso, southeast to Elsinore Peak. Beyond that peak the ridge begins to descend and curves to the east. From Elsinore Peak, a ridge runs to the west and then northwest to San Mateo Peak, enclosing the Morrell Potrero on the south and west. Decker Canyon Creek and Morrell Canyon Creek, tributaries of San Juan Creek, and San Mateo Creek have their sources on the western face of the Elsinore Mountains. Los Alamos Canyon Creek, and its tributary Wildhorse Canyon Creek, tributaries of San Mateo Creek, drain its south facing slopes. The ephemeral streams on the eastern slopes drain into Lake Elsinore (tributary to the Santa Ana River), except on the far southeastern ridge, where they are tributary to Murrieta Creek, a tributary of the Santa Margarita River.
