Cobourg station

Cobourg ( KOH-burg) is a town in the Canadian province of Ontario, located in Southern Ontario 95 km (59 mi) east of Toronto and 62 km (39 mi) east of Oshawa. It is the largest town in and seat of Northumberland County. Its nearest neighbour is Port Hope, 7 km (4 mi) to the west. It is located along Highway 401 (exits 472 and 474) and the former Highway 2 (now Northumberland County Road 2). To the south, Cobourg borders Lake Ontario. To the north, east and west, it is surrounded by Hamilton Township.

The Cobourg Police Service (CPS; French: Service de police de Cobourg) is a municipal police force in Cobourg, Ontario, Canada. As of 2021, the service employed 35 police officers, 28 special constables, and 11 auxiliary constables. The force is notable for its tiered police service delivery model, which it adopted in 2018, and the V13 Policetech Accelerator, which it operates alongside the Northumberland Community Futures Development Corporation. The Accelerator facilitates research and development partnerships between small or starting businesses and the CPS. The service is the largest provider of third-party criminal records checks in Canada. Revenue generated from the checks funds the force's Corporate Services division, which performs the records checks; capital investments in the police service; and local social services.

Cobourg District Collegiate Institute West (CDCI) was a high school in Cobourg, Ontario, founded in 1901.The school is located on King Street West. Cobourg West closed in June 2015, and merged with Cobourg East High School. In September 2014, Cobourg East was renamed Cobourg Collegiate Institute. The former CDCI West building was purchased, and has become William Academy, a co-educational private school for grades 7 to 12.

Canadian Forces Station Cobourg (also CFS Cobourg) was a military logistics base located in Cobourg, Ontario. The facility was created due to the expansion of Canadian military capability brought about by the Korean War and Cold War. Logistics and supply facilities for the Army were being expanded across Canada, and Cobourg was chosen as a site for a new supply depot. The choice of Cobourg for a location was partly due to its proximity to major rail lines. Land was purchased in 1951 and construction proceeded on several buildings over the next two years. In 1954, the headquarters of No. 26 Ordnance Depot of the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps was relocated from Ottawa to Cobourg. The base existed mainly to provide supplies to other military facilities, but also included the Canadian Army's only respirator assembly plant and a detachment of No. 22 Works Company of the Royal Canadian Engineers. When the three arms of the Canadian military were integrated to create the Canadian Forces, No. 26 COD became No. 26 Canadian Forces Supply Depot and the base was renamed Canadian Forces Base Cobourg (CFB Cobourg) in 1966. However, as Cobourg didn't house two or more major units, it didn't qualify as a "base" under Canadian Forces' criteria and was renamed Canadian Forces Station Cobourg a short time later. In 1969, the Canadian Forces supply system was reorganized and CFS Cobourg was identified as surplus. The supply duties of the base were assumed by depots at CFB Downsview in the Toronto area and at the Longue Point site of CFB Montreal; the station was closed and decommissioned on August 31, 1970. The depot was sold to the government of Ontario, which converted it to an industrial park, and later sold it to the Town of Cobourg.

Victoria Hall is a 19th-century building that serves as the Town Hall and multi-functional space in downtown Cobourg, Ontario, Canada. It was built during a time when Cobourg was prospering financially and was believed to be named the capital of Upper Canada. Victoria Hall opened in 1860 and was declared a national historic site in 1959 due to it being a good example of the public edifice of mid-19th century Canada.

Hatfield Hall was a private school for girls in Cobourg, Ontario, Canada. It opened in 1929 and closed in 1951.The school located at 202 Green Street, south of King Street, and associated with nearby St. Peter's Anglican Church. The church's rector, Dr. Temple Boyle, also served as school president. Canadian poet Elizabeth Smart attended the school.After the school closed in 1951 the buildings continued to be used. From 1957 until 1972, the main school building was used by the local radio station CHUC-FM. The rooms in the building are currently rented as apartments.

The Diocesan Theological Institute was an Anglican seminary founded by John Strachan in Cobourg, Canada West, on 10 January 1842. In 1852 the Institute was succeeded by the Faculty of Divinity of the Trinity University, Toronto, itself a federated university with the University of Toronto from 1904. The Trinity College Literary Institute, one of Canada's oldest student and debating societies, began as the debating society of the Diocesan Theological Institute in the 1840s. The seminary building was designed by Henry Bowyer Lane, later acquired as a school. In 1906 Mary Haskell of Chicago bought the home, and it was altered into a private residence at 174 Green Street (Haskell House).

St. Mary Catholic Secondary School is a Catholic high school located in the town of Cobourg, Ontario. It provides classes for approximately 900 students from the surrounding Northumberland County area. the school is located the along Birchwood Trail in Cobourg, about 95 kilometres (59 mi) east of Toronto.

C. R. Gummow Public School is a public elementary school in Cobourg, Ontario, Canada. It offers instruction from Junior Kindergarten to grade 8 and in French immersion from senior kindergarten to grade 8. The school is part of the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board and as of 2016 had 703 students.The school underwent a 20 million dollar project to rebuild the school on the existing property in January 2013; construction started in November 2013 and the school opened to students and staff on March 23, 2015. The old buildings were demolished by May and the yard has not yet been completed. The school principal was Ms. Kneen from 2003 to 2015, and Ms. White from 2015 to 2016.

Cobourg Collegiate Institute (CCI), formerly known as Cobourg District Collegiate Institute East (CDCI East), is a high school in the town of Cobourg, Ontario, Canada. The school was created by the merger of two high schools, Cobourg District Collegiate East and Cobourg District Collegiate West. Both school dates back to the then Cobourg High School which operated from 1901 to 1961.

Cottesmore Hall was a mansion in Coubourg, Ontario. The house was completed in 1910 as a summer home for Wallace Hurtte Rowe (1861–1919), the founder and president of the Pittsburgh Steel Company. Cottesmore Hall was one of several mansions built in Cobourg by wealthy American families, who in the late 19th and early 20th centuries made the town a summer colony. Rowe hired Pittsburgh architects Rutan & Russell, who designed a Colonial Revival house clad in white stucco. The Rowe family owned the home until 1949, when the property was expropriated by the Government of Ontario for use as a home for wayward girls. The house was demolished in 1974.
