Deerpath Hill Estates

Kennedy is an unincorporated community in Lake County, Illinois, United States. It is at the intersection of Illinois Route 43 and Illinois Route 60.

The Clifford Milton Leonard Farm is a historic farm at 550-579 Hathaway Circle in Lake Forest, Illinois. The gentleman's farm was built in 1923-26 for Clifford Milton Leonard; at the time, gentleman's farms were a popular pastime for America's wealthiest citizens, and Leonard, the head of several oil and banking companies, was no exception to this rule. The property includes three cottages, a large round barn, a smaller carriage barn, and several outbuildings and smaller structures; while its original plans included a main house as well, it was never built. Architect Ralph Varney designed the buildings in the French Renaissance Revival style, using elements such as stone and brick exteriors, steep hip roofs, and flared eaves. Noted landscape architect Jens Jensen planned the farm's layout.The farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 10, 2000.

The House at 380 Chiltern Drive is a historic house located at 380 Chiltern Drive in the Deerpath Hill Estates development in Lake Forest, Illinois. Developer Henry K. Turnbull and architect Stanley D. Anderson, the planners of the original Deerpath Hill Estates development, built and designed the house in 1930 as part of the development's second addition. The house has a French Norman Revival design in keeping with the revivalist styles used throughout the development; its design features a stair tower, steep roofs with flared eaves, and wall dormers with casement windows. The house is the only one built and designed by Turnbull and Anderson in the second addition and was the last house built by the duo before the Great Depression bankrupted Turnbull.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 12, 2006.

The Frank Hibbard Estate House is a historic house located at 301 North Chiltern Drive in the Deerpath Hill Estates development in Lake Forest, Illinois. The house was built in 1903 for Frank Hibbard of Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Company, which later became True Value Hardware. Architect George Lyon Harvey designed the house in the Mediterranean Revival style; his design featured a terra cotta roof, decorative iron window coverings, and several porches. In 1929, developer Henry Turnbull purchased the property. Turnbull divided the property, which originally occupied a 21-acre (8.5 ha) plot, to create the Second Addition to Deerpath Hill Estates. Architect Stanley Anderson, a colleague of Turnbull and the developer of the original Deerpath Hill Estates, modernized the house in keeping with its Mediterranean design.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 12, 2006.

The House at 965 Castlegate Court is a historic house located at 965 Castlegate Court in the Deerpath Hill Estates development in Lake Forest, Illinois. Developer Henry K. Turnbull, who planned the original section of Deerpath Hill Estates, built the house in 1930. The house is located at the northern entrance to the First Addition to Deerpath Hill Estates; it is technically outside of the development, and was marketed as being in the "Deerpath Hill Estates district". It is the only house Turnbull built outside of the original three sections of Deerpath Hill Estates; its location served to draw potential buyers into the estate from Waukegan Road. The house has a Colonial Revival design in keeping with the revivalist styles used in the development; its design features two stone-faced gables and a developed cornice.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 12, 2006.

Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital (NLFH) is a community-based hospital in Lake Forest, Illinois and a wholly owned subsidiary of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, one of the nation's premiere academic medical centers. The hospital was established in 1899 as Alice Home on the campus of Lake Forest College, and in 1942 a new hospital was built in its current location as Lake Forest Hospital. On February 1, 2010, Lake Forest Hospital completed an affiliation agreement with Northwestern Memorial HealthCare and became Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.The 201-bed hospital is on a 160-acre (65 ha) campus in Lake Forest and provides a comprehensive array of inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services. At the main campus in Lake Forest, services include an inpatient hospital, a women's center providing maternity and breast care services, a health and fitness center and a nursing care facility. The hospital has 700 board-certified physicians specializing in 90 specialties on its medical staff.Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital is a partner of Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, one of the nation's top-ranked children's hospitals. Lurie Children's Outpatient Center and Lurie Children's hospitalists and neonatologists provide infant and pediatric care 24 hours a day to patients at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.

Lake Forest Academy (also known as LFA) is a co-educational college preparatory school for boarding and day students in grades 9 through 12. The school is located on the North Shore in Lake Forest, Illinois, United States, about 30 miles north of Chicago. As of the 2019–2020 school year, the school enrolled 435 students, with the students coming from 13 states and 35 countries. This school is among the most selective boarding schools in the United States. The current head of school is Christopher O. Tennyson. The school is accredited by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS), and the Secondary School Admission Test Board (SSATB).

Middlefork Savanna is a of 687 acres (278 ha) nature preserve in Lake Forest, Illinois. Several biomes including oak savannas, dry-mesic prairies, wet-mesic prairies, marshes, deciduous woodlands, and sedge meadows as well as a portion of the North Branch of the Chicago River are found in the preserve. The Middlefork Savanna also contains 25 acres (10 ha) of the “highest quality tallgrass savanna of its kind” in the United States. Such ecosystems are globally endangered. The preserve includes 5.5 miles of gravel trails for hiking and cross-country skiing as well as 4.2 miles of trails for biking. It is managed by Lake County Forest Preserves.

The Noble Judah Estate is a historic estate at 111 and 211 West Westminster Street in Lake Forest, Illinois, United States. The estate was built from 1925 to 1928 for lawyer Noble Brandon Judah, his wife and National Cash Register heiress Dorothy Patterson, and their children. It includes a main house, a garden, a pool, and several small outbuildings. The main house and the outbuildings were given French Renaissance Revival designs by architect Philip Lippincott Goodwin; their designs include steep roofs, decorative brickwork, and half-timbering. The estate's landscape design was inspired by traditional French gardens and includes a small Korean boxwood garden with a geometric layout.The estate was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 3, 1990.

Lake Forest is a city located in Lake County, Illinois, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 19,367. The city is along the shore of Lake Michigan, and is a part of the Chicago metropolitan area and the North Shore. Lake Forest was founded with Lake Forest College and was laid out as a town in 1857, a stop for travelers making their way south to Chicago. The Lake Forest City Hall, designed by Charles Sumner Frost, was completed in 1898. It originally housed the fire department, the Lake Forest Library, and city offices.

Lake Forest is a railroad station in Lake Forest, Illinois, served by Metra's Milwaukee District North Line. The station is located on 10205 North Waukegan Road (IL 43), and is 28.4 miles (45.7 km) away from Chicago Union Station, the southern terminus of the line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Lake Forest is in zone F. As of 2018, Lake Forest is the 82nd busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 607 weekday boardings.As of December 12, 2022, Lake Forest is served by 45 trains (21 inbound, 24 outbound) on weekdays, by all 20 trains (10 in each direction) on Saturdays, and by all 18 trains (nine in each direction) on Sundays and holidays. Four inbound trains originate here, and four outbound trains terminate here, on weekdays. Additionally, one inbound train originates from here with one outbound train terminating here on Saturdays. Another Lake Forest station exists along the Union Pacific North Line east of this station. Therefore, this station can also be referred to as West Lake Forest station. No bus connections exist here, nor is there any connection to the East Lake Forest station. However parking is available along Telegraph Road along the west side of the tracks, and the station is accessible from North Waukegan Road through Settler's Square on the east side of the tracks. Lake Forest is the northernmost Metra station to be located on the C&M Subdivision, and serves as an emergency stop for Amtrak's Empire Builder and Hiawatha Service trains. Since 2010, Amtrak has had plans for its Hiawatha trains to stop at Lake Forest, but as of 2022 has yet to come to fruition. Metra has proposed the construction of crossovers at Lake Forest to make the station better suited to turning trains around.

Ragdale is the former summer retreat of Chicago architect Howard Van Doren Shaw (1869–1926), located in Lake Forest, Illinois. It is also the home of the Ragdale Foundation, an artist residency program that hosts creators from a number of disciplines: nonfiction and fiction writers, composers, poets, play- and screenwriters, visual artists, choreographers, as well as those from interdisciplinary interests.
