Southeastern Oklahoma State University (Southeastern or SE) is a public university in Durant, Oklahoma. It had a total enrollment of 5,376 in 2022.

Silo High School is a high school in Durant, Oklahoma. It serves 9th through 12th grade. The athletic teams are known as the Rebels. The school colors are red and blue. As of 2017, there are currently 230 students enrolled. The Rebel baseball team currently has four Fall State Championships 2006, 2007, 2010, and 2014. Also having seven Spring State Championships from 2002, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2015, and 2017. The school district passed a bond in 2017 to allow a new elementary building to be built.

Durant High School (also known as Durant High and DHS) is a public secondary school in Durant, Oklahoma, serving grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. The school is part of the Durant Independent School District. Durant's mascot is the Lion. The high school has approximately 1,000 students, making it one of the largest high schools in Southeastern Oklahoma.

Durant () is a city in Bryan County, Oklahoma, United States that serves as the headquarters of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. The population was 18,589 in the 2020 census. Durant is the principal city of the Durant Micropolitan Statistical Area, which had a population of 46,067 in 2020. The city is the largest in the Choctaw Nation, ranking ahead of McAlester and Poteau. Durant is also part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Combined Statistical Area, anchoring the northern edge.The city was founded by Dixon Durant, a Choctaw who lived in the area, after the MK&T railroad came through the Indian Territory in the early 1870s. It became the county seat of Bryan County in 1907 after Oklahoma statehood. Durant is home to Southeastern Oklahoma State University and the headquarters of the Choctaw Nation. The city is officially known as the Magnolia Capital of Oklahoma. The city and its micropolitan are a major part of the Texoma region.

The Bryan County Courthouse in Durant, Oklahoma, located at 4th Avenue and Evergreen Street, was built in 1917. It was designed by architect Jewell Hicks. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.It is a three-story courthouse. It was deemed "significant because of its importance to the county's residents as a center of government, and because it is an elegant example of monumental public architecture. It is particularly notable because its architect was Jewell Hicks, one of the designers of the Oklahoma State Capitol Building."

AllianceHealth Durant, is a hospital located at 1800 University Boulevard in Durant, Oklahoma. The hospital was founded in 1987, replacing the older Bryan Memorial Hospital. It was formerly known as the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma.

The Three Valley Museum is a non-profit museum in Durant, Oklahoma. It houses a collection of artifacts regarding the history of Bryan County. It opened in 1976. It is named after the book Queen of the Three Valleys by Henry McCreary, which is about Durant. The museum is operated by the Durant Historical Society.

Oklahoma Presbyterian College (also known as Oklahoma Presbyterian College for Girls) is a historic Presbyterian school at 601 N. 16th Street in Durant, Oklahoma. The site, including two contributing buildings, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.The main building is a three-story building, built during 1909-1910 of red brick with white stone trim. It is 50 by 160 feet (15 m × 49 m) in plan and served as a combination school and dormitory, and was built at cost of $100,000.The second building, built in 1918, is also three stories but is more modest, and is 32 by 80 feet (9.8 m × 24.4 m) in plan.In 1976 the two buildings served as headquarters and museum of the Red River Valley Historical Society.Beginning in 1975, the building functioned as the Choctaw Nation's administrative headquarters until 2018 when the headquarters was relocated to a newly constructed building. The building still houses some Choctaw Nation employees, but remains largely empty since the move.

Choctaw Casino Bingo in Durant, Oklahoma was the first Choctaw casino to be constructed, in 1987, and was also the original casino before the construction of new Choctaw Casino Resort in 2005. Since the construction of the original casino, it has since then sparked growth for the Choctaw gaming industry. In 1988, the voters of the state of Oklahoma passed a law that allowed 3 different classes of gambling in the state of Oklahoma. Choctaw Casino Bingo was one of the first facilities to take advantage of the new law. Changes in the law led to the introduction of Las Vegas style slot machines and video games as well as table games including Blackjack and Poker. Choctaw Casino Bingo is owned and operated by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Profits contribute to many development programs used to benefit local communities and the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

The Robert E. Lee School, at Ninth and Louisiana Streets in Durant, Oklahoma, was built in 1937. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.It is part of the Durant Independent School District. It is a one-story L-shaped building, 189 by 114 feet (58 m × 35 m) in plan, with a buff brick exterior, with brick laid in running bond. It has a flat roof with parapets and towers capped by Spanish tile roofs. It was built as a Works Progress Administration project.According to its National Register nomination, "The school building is significant because construction of it enabled destitute laborers in the Durant area to find useful employment after months, if not years, of unemployment. Also the structure created an educational environment more conducive to learning. As a WPA school building, the structure is notable for its stylistic allusion to Spanish colonial architecture and its use of brick building materials. It also suggests the relative "prosperity" of urban school districts as opposed to those in rural areas. Within the community the building is unique architecturally because of its style and workmanship."Albert S. Ross is credited as architect of the project.

It is one of few radio stations with a daytime power less than 250 watts. They are also on translator K231CE 94.1 FM in Durant, Oklahoma. This station primarily plays hits from the 1950s to the 1990s.
