Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) is a non-profit tertiary level cardiac hospital located on Rawal Road in Rawalpindi, of the Punjab province of Pakistan. Established in 2012, RIC has nearly 50 departments which provide health facilities to several parts of the country. The hospital was established by Punjab Health Department and inaugurated by former Chief Minister of the Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif. A 272-bed hospital, the current executive director is Professor Dr. Anjum Jalal; the medical superintendent of the hospital is Dr. Muhammad Sohail.

The Rawalpindi Leprosy Hospital (Urdu: راولپنڈی لیپروسی ہسپتال) is a non-profit leprosy hospital in Pakistan. It is among the oldest leprosy hospitals in the region.Chris Schmotzer is the current medical director of the hospital.

Benazir Bhutto Hospital, also known as the Rawalpindi General Hospital, is a hospital located on the Murree Road, Rawalpindi, Pakistan. It is a major teaching hospital offering basic specialties as well as psychiatry, orthopaedics, urology and cardiology. It is associated with Rawalpindi Medical University.It is the place where Benazir Bhutto died on 27 December 2007.

Benazir Bhutto International Airport (Urdu: بینظیر بھٹو ایئر بیس, ICAO: OPRN) is a defunct airport which formerly served the Islamabad-Rawalpindi metropolitan area. It was the second-largest airport by air traffic in Pakistan, until 3 May 2018 when it was replaced by the new Islamabad International Airport. Also known as Chaklala Airbase, it was renamed after the late Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto (1953–2007) in June 2008. The airport handled 4,767,860 passengers in 2015–16, compared to 3,610,566 in 2010–11.The airport was located in the area of Chaklala in Rawalpindi, which neighbours Islamabad. Following the establishment of the new Islamabad International Airport, the airport is no longer used for civil aviation and now forms a part of the adjoining PAF Base Nur Khan (also known as PAF Base Chaklala).

Pakistan Air Force Base Nur Khan (founded as RAF Station Chaklala and previously known as PAF Base Chaklala) is an active Pakistan Air Force airbase located in Chaklala, Rawalpindi, Punjab province, Pakistan. The former Benazir Bhutto International Airport forms part of this airbase. Fazaia Intermediate College, Nur Khan is also located in the base.

St Mary’s Cambridge Higher Secondary School, also Saint Mary’s Cambridge Higher Secondary School and formerly St Mary's Cambridge High School, is a private Catholic primary and secondary school for boys, located on Murree Road in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

Chaklala Railway Station (Urdu and Punjabi: چک لالہ ریلوے اسٹیشن) is located in Chaklala town, Rawalpindi district of Punjab province of the Pakistan.

Kalyan Das Temple (Kalyan Das Mandir) is a 19th-century Hindu temple in Kohati Bazaar, Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan. It was built by the Suri family and is named after Kalyan Das Suri. The complex is notable for its tall shikhara-like domes and painted panels. Since the mid-20th century the temple compound has been occupied by a government school for visually impaired children; the temple building itself is reported to be in a state of neglect. Historically the temple has been the starting point of Amarnath for the Hindu community. The pilgrims would walk barefoot from the temple to the Amaranth Caves through Murree hills.

Municipal Library Rawalpindi (Urdu: میونسپل لائبریری راولپنڈی) is a public library in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Founded in 1873, it is located at Murree road, adjacent to Liaqat National Bagh. The library currently has a collection of around 40,000 books.

Liaqat National Bagh (Park), formerly known as Company Bagh, usually just referred to as Liaqat Bagh (Urdu: لیاقت باغ), is a famous park on Murree Road in the city of Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan. It is close to Arya Mohalla and Government Gordon College, which are two well-known residential and commercial areas of Rawalpindi.

The Joint Staff Headquarters (reporting name:JS HQ), is the military headquarters of the Pakistan Armed Forces at the vicinity of the Chaklala, Rawalpindi, Punjab in Pakistan. Constructed on an accelerated schedule in 1972, the JS HQ, which also includes the post of Army GHQ, serves as a principle headquarters of the Pakistan Armed Forces with concerns relating to higher direction of war, operational planning, and deterrence developments.: 46 

The assassination of Benazir Bhutto (Urdu: بینظیر بھُٹو کا قتل) took place on 27 December 2007 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Benazir Bhutto, twice Prime Minister of Pakistan (1988–1990; 1993–1996) and then-leader of the opposition Pakistan People's Party, which had been campaigning ahead of elections scheduled for January 2008. Shots were fired at Benazir Bhutto after a political rally at Liaqat National Bagh, and a suicide bomb was detonated immediately following the shooting. She was declared dead at 18:16 local time (13:16 UTC), at Rawalpindi General Hospital. Twenty-three other people were killed by the bombing. Bhutto had previously survived a similar attempt on her life (the 2007 Karsaz bombing) that killed at least 180 people, after her return from exile two months earlier. Following the tragic event, the Election Commission of Pakistan postponed the general elections by a month, which saw Bhutto's party win. Though early reports indicated that she had been hit by shrapnel or the gunshots, the Pakistani Interior Ministry initially stated that Bhutto died of a skull fracture sustained when the force of the explosion caused her head to strike the sunroof of the vehicle. Bhutto's aides rejected this version of the story, and argued instead that she suffered two gunshots before the bomb detonation. The Interior Ministry subsequently backtracked from its previous claim.In May 2007, Bhutto had asked for additional protection from foreign contracting agencies Blackwater and the British firm ArmorGroup. The United Nations' investigation of the incident stated that "Ms. Bhutto's assassination could have been prevented if adequate security measures had been taken."
