San Mariano is a village of the municipality of Corciano in the Province of Perugia, Umbria, central Italy. It stands at an elevation of 315 metres above sea level and was named for San Mariano. The village lies over three hills: the first with a castle, the second with a cemetery and the third near the place called "La Badia." From the top of the hills can be seen San Sisto and Lacugnana Hill eastwards, the plane of Castel del Piano to the south, Solomeo towards the west and the villages of Ellera and Olmo northwards. Notable monuments are the old castle (which, in July 1365 after a battle near the plane of Bagnaia, gave refuge to English troops), the medieval church and the monument dedicated to the soldiers of the 1st world war. Just next to the parish church is the Rachel Marro public gardens fitted with benches in the middle of some thriving olive trees. In a corner of the gardens there is a memorial stone with the carved names of those who gave their lives during the two world wars. At the time of the Istat census of 2001 it had 1152 inhabitants. San Mariano is connected by bus routes with the city of Perugia. During recent years it has developed many commercial activities such as malls and cinemas built in the plane near the village.

At the time of the Istat census of 2001 it had 436 inhabitants and is found about 9 km south of the city of Corciano. The village is centered mainly on the hill top and the surrounding plain below is irrigated by the waters of the stream Caina.

Associazione Calcistica Perugia Calcio, or simply Perugia, is a professional football club based in Perugia, Umbria, Italy, that competes in the Serie B. Founded in 1905 as Associazione Calcistica Perugia, the club folded in 2005 and were re-founded the same year as Perugia Calcio, before dissolving once again in 2010, taking on its current name. The club has played 13 times in the Serie A; their best placement was finishing runners-up in 1978–79 year unbeaten, becoming the first team under the round-robin format to finish the Serie A season without defeats. In addition to various minor league titles, the club has won the 2003 UEFA Intertoto Cup, and has made two UEFA Cup appearances. In its Serie A spell under club president Luciano Gaucci around the turn of the century Perugia had some upset wins at home, most notably against Juventus on the final day in 2000, which lead to their opponents dropping the title win to Lazio. Gaucci's era ended with relegation in 2004 after which bankruptcy unfolded. The club's players are nicknamed "biancorossi" (red and whites) due to their historical kit colours, which include red shirts and socks accompanied by white shorts, and "grifoni" (griffins), inspired by their city's heraldic symbol. They play their home matches at the 28,000-capacity Stadio Renato Curi. In the 1979–80 season, they became the first Italian football team to show a kit sponsorship.

The Cippus Perusinus is a stone tablet (cippus) discovered on the hill of San Marco, near Perugia, Italy, in 1822. The tablet bears 46 lines of incised Etruscan text, about 130 words. The cippus is assumed to be a text dedicating a legal contract between the Etruscan families of Velthina (from Perugia) and Afuna (from Chiusi), regarding the sharing or use of a property upon which there was a tomb belonging to the noble Velthinas.The date of the inscription is considered to be 3rd or 2nd century BC. The Cippus is conserved in the National Archeological Museum of Perugia.
