The City Municipality of Ljubljana (pronounced [ljuˈbljaːna]), also the City of Ljubljana (Slovene: Mestna občina Ljubljana, acronym MOL) is one of twelve city and metropolitan municipalities in Slovenia. Its seat is Ljubljana, the largest and capital city of Slovenia. As of December 2021, its mayor is Zoran Janković.

The Ljubljana Puppet Theatre (Slovenian:Lutkovno gledališče Ljubljana) was founded in 1948, originally as the City Puppet Theatre, and remains the premier Slovenian theatre for puppetry. It is located in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It had its opening premiere on October 10 as part of the Ljubljana Festival. The first art director was Jože Pengov, Slovenian director, playwright, actor, writer, translator, publicist and founder of the modern craft of Slovenian puppet theater. Today, the Theatre hosts and participates in numerous European and Slovenian festivals.The theatre stages puppetry shows but also live action dramas, musicals, and other performance entertainments.The theatre has four stages accommodating between 60 and 210 seats: St Jacob's Stage, The Main Stage, Small Stage, and Stage Under the Stars located on the top floor with a glass roof up to the night skies. The theatre also contains a small Museum of Puppetry which opened in 2015.

The Vodnik Monument (Slovene: Vodnikov spomenik) or Valentin Vodnik Monument (Spomenik Valentinu Vodniku), is dedicated to the Carniolan priest, poet and journalist Valentin Vodnik (1758−1819). It stands at Vodnik Square (Vodnikov trg) in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, in the immediate vicinity of the Ljubljana Central Market.The idea for the statue was put forward by the politician Lovro Toman on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the poet's birth and was organised by the Writers' Support Society in collaboration with the Slovene Society. It was made from 1887 to 1889 in bronze and with a simple stone pedestal in Vienna by the young sculptor Alojz Gangl (1859−1935) and was unveiled on 30 June 1889 with a three-day celebration as the first public Slovene national monument. The monument has a bronze verse by Vodnik on its back side and the bronze inscription Vodnik on its front side. The verse is written in Slovene and says: "No daughter no son, to come after me, enough memory done, my songs sing of me."Because Vodnik was an ardent supporter of the Illyrian Provinces, which he saw as fostering Slovene linguistic development, the letters R and F, meaning République Française (a reference to the First French Republic), as well as a laurel wreath, a sheaf and a swearing arm above it, and the inscription A Vodnik below the wreath, were added to the pedestal in 1929, soon after the 120th anniversary of the establishment of the Provinces. These are all made of bronze. They were a gift by France and were also decorated with the French tricolour.

Vodnik Square (Slovene: Vodnikov trg) is a town square in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It spans the area from the Dragon Bridge across Pogačar Square (Pogačarjev trg) to the Triple Bridge. It is named after Valentin Vodnik, a Slovene priest, journalist, and poet from the late Enlightenment period. There is a monument with a statue in the square commemorating him. It was sculpted by Alojzij Gangl and unveiled in 1889. Across the street from the monument is a path leading to Castle Hill.In 1895, when an earthquake destroyed much of an old monastery containing a girls’ diocesan college and library, it had to be completely pulled down and the square became an outdoor market now called the Ljubljana Central Market.

Caritas Slovenia (Slovene: Slovenska karitas) is a Slovenian Catholic charity organisation. It operates nationally by providing social welfare services, and internationally by supporting the relief and development efforts of partner organisations. Caritas Slovenia is a member of both Caritas Internationalis and Caritas Europa.

The Ljubljana Central Market (Slovene: Osrednja ljubljanska tržnica) is a market in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The riverside market building, sometimes referred to as Plečnik's Market (Slovene: Plečnikova tržnica), was designed by Jože Plečnik between 1931 and 1939. It stretches between the Triple Bridge and the Dragon Bridge, on the right bank of the Ljubljanica River. The marketplace and Vodnik Square (Slovene: Vodnikov trg), where it is located, are cultural monuments of national significance. It is partly located at Adamič and Lunder Embankment (Adamič-Lundrovo nabrežje) and at Pogačar Square (Pogačarjev trg).

Ljubljana Castle (Slovene: Ljubljanski grad, German: Laibacher Schloss) is a castle complex standing on Castle Hill above downtown Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It is a key landmark of the town. Originally a medieval fortress, it was probably constructed in the 11th century and rebuilt in the 12th century. It acquired its present outline with an almost complete overhaul in the 15th century, whereas the majority of the buildings date to the 16th and 17th centuries. Initially a defense structure and since the first half of the 14th century the seat of the lords of Carniola, it was since the early 19th century used for various other purposes and today is used as a major cultural venue.The castle is depicted on the city's coat of arms, along with a dragon on top.

The Dragon Bridge (Slovene: Zmajski most, historically also Zmajev most) is a road bridge located in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It crosses the Ljubljanica River. between Kopitar Street (Kopitarjeva ulica) and Ressel Street (Resljeva cesta), to the north of the Ljubljana Central Market at Vodnik Square. It was built in the beginning of the 20th century, when Ljubljana was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. As one of the best examples of reinforced concrete bridges and of the Vienna Secession style, the bridge is today protected as a technical monument. It is intended primarily for motorised traffic.

The Butchers' Bridge (Slovene: Mesarski most) is a footbridge crossing the river Ljubljanica in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It connects the Ljubljana Central Market and the Petkovšek Embankment (Petkovškovo nabrežje). The bridge was solemnly opened on 10 July 2010. The original idea for a bridge on the site was expressed in the 1930s by the architect Jože Plečnik. The modern bridge, which is far more simple than the original plan, features a staircase at its left entry, a glass walking belts at the sides, and two fences with steel wires and wide top shelves. It was designed by Jurij Kobe from the Atelier Arhitekti studio. It is decorated with works by the sculptor Jakov Brdar.

Ljubljana Cathedral (Slovene: ljubljanska stolnica), officially named Saint Nicholas's Church (cerkev sv. Nikolaja, unofficially also šenklavška cerkev), also named Saint Nicholas's Cathedral (Slovene: stolnica sv. Nikolaja), the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas, or simply the Cathedral (Stolnica), is a cathedral in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. Originally, Ljubljana Cathedral was a Gothic church. In the early 18th century, it was replaced by a Baroque building. It is an easily recognizable landmark of the city with its green dome and twin towers and stands at Cyril and Methodius Square (Ciril-Metodov trg) by the nearby Ljubljana Central Market and Town Hall.

The Roman Catholic Metropolitan Archdiocese of Ljubljana (Slovene: Nadškofija Ljubljana, Latin: Archidioecesis Labacensis) is an ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Slovenia.

The Academia Operosorum Labacensium (Academy of the Industrious Residents of Ljubljana)—a forerunner of the modern Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts—was founded in Ljubljana in 1693 as an association of 23 scholars. Most of the members, which included 13 lawyers, six theologians, and four medical doctors, were ethnically Slovene. The newly founded library became an important centre of activity for its members. The Operosi were very influential in the development of the arts in Ljubljana and throughout the Slovene cultural area. The members of the academy adopted the Latin name apes (bees) and the academic tag Nobis atque aliis – operosi. Every year they held an annual meeting, as well as four other academic meetings, where they discussed their research. Its purpose from the beginning was to promote scholarship in law, medicine, philosophy, and theology. In 1701, the academy merged with the Academia incoltorum (Academy of Fine Arts) and Academia philharmonicorum (Academy of Music). At the time of its greatest activity, around 1714, it was an international association of 42 members from Carniola and the counties of central Austria assembled under the patronage of Bishop Franz Karl von Kaunitz. It fell into decline in the summer of 1725, but was revived in 1781, thanks to the efforts of Slovene Enlightenment figures. It was only active for another 20 years or so and thereafter declined again because the members' outlooks and expectations were too much at variance.
