Balaclava railway station, Jamaica

Balaclava is a small town in Northern St Elizabeth parish, Jamaica. It used to be an important town in the north of the parish. Balaclava has a lively, outdoor Market. The St Luke Anglican Church, where many victims of the infamous Kendall Train Crash (1957) are buried, is a historical treasure and museum. Nearby the village of Marlborough Hill offers great scenic walks and tranquility. The Armstrong bar provides relaxation, local entertainment and great conversation with everyday Jamaicans. The town was established around the plantations of the Arscott & Sherman families in the late 18th century. Graves of these families can be found in the cemetery of St.Luke's Anglican church. One of the plantation style houses still remains, and commands sweeping views of the Appleton Estate (Rum)sugar cane fields, as well as the foothills of the Cockpit Country. The nearby districts are Russell Hill, Wallingford and Oxford.

The Rotten Gut River is a short river in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica and a tributary of the One Eye River.

Oxford Cave is a cave in Manchester Parish in west-central Jamaica. It is 765 metres long and at 290 metres altitude. The cave entrance is close by a main road and because of its accessibility has suffered much graffiti, vandalism and litter. It is a roost for a great many bats, but these are under threat from the number of anti-social human visitors, many there to collect bat guano to use as farm fertiliser, others for bashments.

The One-Eye River is a river in the parishes of Manchester and St Elizabeth in Jamaica. It is a tributary of the Black River.

Siloah is a settlement in Jamaica whose existence dates to between the mid 1700s and the early 1800s. It has a population of 2,653 as of 2009. Siloah's economy revolves around the tourist attraction Appleton Sugar Estate, established in 1749, which produces sugar and rum. Their primary school was started in 1825 and the Black River, one of Jamaica's longest rivers runs through the Appleton property. Siloah is also home to West Indies wicket keeper Chadwick Walton.

Accompong (from the Asante name Acheampong) is a historical Maroon village located in the hills of St. Elizabeth Parish on the island of Jamaica. It is located in Cockpit Country, where Jamaican Maroons and Indigenous Taíno established a fortified stronghold in the hilly terrain in the 17th century. They defended it and maintained independence from the Spanish and then later the British, after the colony changed hands. Accompong is reportedly named after the son of Miguel Reid, the first African Maroon leader in western Jamaica originally from Ghana and allegedly the first leader of Cudjoe's Town (Trelawny Town). This would make Accompong brother to Kojo or Cudjoe, and possibly Cuffee, Quaco and Nanny of the Maroons. Accompong Town was reportedly built by Kojo who assigned his Brother Accompong to watch over it. After years of raiding and warfare, they established their autonomy, self-government and recognition as an Indigenous people by a peace treaty with the British in 1739. Since independence in 1962, the government of Jamaica has continued to recognize the Indigenous rights of the Jamaican Maroons in this area. Accompong is run by a chief who is elected by voting. The current chief is Chief Richard Currie.

Maggotty is a settlement in Jamaica. It had a population of 1,335 as of 2009. Maggotty was a bauxite mining town in the 1960s and 1970s. The Revere bauxite plant polluted the Black River, Jamaica's longest river. The small town also possesses three schools neighbouring each other: a high school, Maggotty High school; a primary school, Glen Stuart Primary; and an infant school, Maggotty Basic School.

St. Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) is a co-educational secondary school in Santa Cruz, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica. This year 2021 marks 25 years of STETHS Alumni Association (Inc.) and on 60 years since the inception of our alma mater. STETHS Alumni Association USA Inc. was formed and celebrated by STETHS Classes 1961 - 2020 and its President Donovan Wilson.

Santa Cruz is a town in Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica, on the A2 road connecting Black River to Mandeville. A minor market village until the 1950s, the development of nearby areas for bauxite mining stimulated its growth in the 1950s and 1960s, as did the establishment of the St. Elizabeth Technical High School in 1961. Santa Cruz has its own courthouse, police station and a wide variety of restaurants alongside supermarkets and funeral parlors. In the 1950s a Korean born medical doctor, Hae Sok Kim, made Santa Cruz his home until his death in 1983.

Lacovia is a town in Saint Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica, located on the Black River between the Upper Morass and the Lower Morass.

Lacovia High School (COBY) is a government-owned, co-educational, first-to-sixth form, non-traditional, secondary school located in Lacovia in the parish of St Elizabeth, Jamaica. According to Go-Local Jamaica, an online branch of the Jamaica Gleaner newspaper, Lacovia High has recently been noticed by the upper echelons of society. The school has outperformed a number of other well-known similar institutions, with some students sitting CXC and CSEC exams passing in as many as ten subjects.
