Encanto (Spanish for "Charm") is a hilly urban neighborhood located in the southeastern region of San Diego, California. The neighborhood is bordered by California State Route 94 and the communities of Oak Park and Broadway Heights to the north, O'Farrell (also known as South Encanto) to the south, Emerald Hills and Valencia Park to the west and the City of Lemon Grove to the east.

O'Farrell (formerly and still frequently informally known to as South Encanto) is an urban neighborhood in the southeastern region of San Diego, California. The community borders the neighborhoods of Encanto to the north, Skyline and North Bay Terrace to the east, Alta Vista to the south, and Valencia Park to the west.

O'Farrell Community School or The O'Farrell Charter School (CDE official name), commonly referred to as O'Farrell, is a charter school in the Southeast San Diego neighborhood of Encanto serving grades K-12 in the K-12 American education system. The school opened its doors in the San Diego Unified School District in 1959 with its name chosen in 1957 as Mabel E. O'Farrell Jr. High. It was voted to become a charter school in 1994. President Bill Clinton made a visit to San Diego in 1995 to sign the "Goals 2000" education bill and to visit O'Farrell because it was charter. It was also mentioned in Hillary Clinton's book It Takes a Village. It has a code of conduct of how to become a good citizen called The Falcon Way, of Focus, Attitude, Leadership Citizenship, Organization, and Non-Violience, that is indoctrinated per student. Instead of being called principal, faculty and students refer to the educational leader as the Chief Educational Officer (CEO). The large conspicuous mural in front of the school on the side of the Theatre was a tribute to a faculty member by the nickname "Animal" who died. The mural was painted by students. For 2006-2007, the school academic progress place it with an Academic Performance Index of 710 base with 720 growth, where 800 is the California state goal. The school boasted itself as being #1 in API compared to other surrounding schools in its November 2007 edition of its newsletter. For October 2005, the demographic makeup of the student body consisted of 36% Hispanic, 31% Black, 24% Filipino, 3%White.Hillary Clinton also mentions the O'Farrell way extending beyond these rules that also includes the graduation requirement of time for community service. However, the graduation requirement actually fits under The O'Farrell Standard which is just an award and recognition issued for those who have essentially accomplished (1) good academic performance, (2) portfolio compilation, (3) presentation of the portfolio, (4) 12 hours of community service equally distributed at home, work, school; (5) good citizenship The O'Farrell Way all of which were mentioned in the school's charter proposal.

Southeast San Diego refers to the southeastern portion of the City of San Diego (excluding South San Diego) and the neighborhoods south of State Route 94 (Martin Luther King Jr. Freeway) and east of Downtown San Diego. There are three official community planning areas: Skyline-Paradise Hills, Encanto Neighborhoods, and Southeastern. Largely urbanized in the areas nearer Downtown San Diego to the west and characteristically hilly, with lower-density residential and semi-rural neighborhoods toward the east, it is economically and ethnically diverse. In 1992, Councilman George Stevens campaigned against any official usage of the name "Southeast San Diego," since the designation had long been viewed as shorthand for the community as being crime-ridden and impoverished. His campaign was successful and all official use of "Southeast San Diego" has been discontinued by the city. Many residents and locals however, still refer to the area as "Southeast."

KOGO (600 AM) is a commercial broadcast radio station in San Diego, California. The station airs a news/talk radio format and is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. The station's studios and offices are located in San Diego's Kearny Mesa neighborhood on the northeast side. Originally known as KFWV, the station operated as an NBC affiliate under the KRSD call sign from 1926 to 1961 when it was changed to KOGO. Powered at 5,000 watts day and night, the AM signal is one of the strongest in Southern California. KOGO uses a directional antenna with its two-tower array transmitter located off 60th Street at Old Memory Lane in the Emerald Hills neighborhood of San Diego. The signal pattern generally follows the Pacific Coast from Baja California, Mexico, to Santa Barbara. Because of its reach, KOGO is one of the primary Emergency Alert System stations for the San Diego radio market. The KWFN antenna is at the top of one tower and the KLNV antenna is at the top of the other. KOGO is the first, and the only AM, radio station in the San Diego market to broadcast in HD Radio. The station is simulcast on 94.1 KMYI-HD2 .

KLNV (106.5 FM, "Que Buena 106.5") is a Regional Mexican radio station broadcasting to the San Diego metropolitan area. It is owned by TelevisaUnivision, and is a part of the Uforia Audio Network. Studios are located on West Broadway in San Diego, with its antenna located near 60th Street and Tooley Street in San Diego's Emerald Hills neighborhood, and is co-located with KWFN and KOGO.

Emerald Hills is a community in the southeastern section of the city of San Diego, California, United States. It is bordered by Oak Park and California State Route 94 on the north, Chollas View and Euclid Avenue on the west, Encanto on the east, and Valencia Park and Market Street on the south. Major thoroughfares include Kelton Road and Roswell Street.

Valencia Park is an urban community in the southeastern section of the city of San Diego. It is bordered by Emerald Hills and Market Street on the north, Lincoln Park and Euclid Avenue on the west, Encanto on the east, and Alta Vista and National City, California on the south. Major thoroughfares include Imperial Avenue, Churchward Street, and Valencia Parkway.

Christian Fellowship Congregational Church (Christian Fellowship UCC) is a United Church of Christ church located in southeast San Diego in the community of Emerald Hills. Since 1963 the church has been situated upon the former Emerald Hills Golf Course and Country Club. The congregation is a progressive, inclusive, bible-based Christian community of faith that seeks in every way to recontextualize Christianity through black liberation theology and praxis. The church hosts a weekly Sunday evening Jazz Vespers worship services which attracts a very diverse community; Jazz Vespers @ Christian Fellowship UCC.

Samuel F. B. Morse High School is an urban public high school located in southeastern San Diego in the neighborhood of Skyline Hills serving grades 9–12 in the American K-12 education system. Morse, which serves a predominantly socioeconomically-disadvantaged student population, has produced several notable athletes among its alumni

Euclid Avenue is a station on the Orange Line of the San Diego Trolley located in the Emerald Hills neighborhood of San Diego, California. The station serves both nearby residences and is also a park and ride facility.

Skyline, also known as Skyline Hills or Skyline Park, is a hilly urban neighborhood in Southeastern San Diego. It is bordered by Encanto to the west, Jamacha-Lomita to the North East, and Bay Terraces to the South. The neighborhood is split into two sections, Skyline West and Skyline East. The neighborhood is part of the Skyline-Paradise Hills Community Planning Area.
