Sunnybrook Park

Leaside Aerodrome was an airport in the Town of Leaside, Ontario (now a neighbourhood of Toronto). It opened in 1917 as a Royal Flying Corps airfield during the First World War.

Inn on the Park was a luxury hotel which was formerly located on a hill overlooking Leslie Street and Eglinton Avenue in North York, Ontario (now Toronto). It was one of the early Toronto hotels operated by the Four Seasons Hotel chain.

Edwards Gardens is a botanical garden located on the southwest corner of Leslie Street and Lawrence Avenue East in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is also the site of the Toronto Botanical Garden, a private not-for profit organization previously called the Civic Garden Centre. It is a former estate garden featuring annuals, roses and wildflowers and an extensive rockery. It is located on Wilket Creek, one of the tributaries of the Don River West Branch. The estate's title was once held by Alexander Milne, a Scottish weaver who settled there after the War of 1812 and left in 1832. Although the property remained in the Milne family, it was left in neglect. The land and the woollen/saw mills were bought by Rupert E. Edwards in 1944 and he created a magnificent garden there. He sold the property to the Municipality of Metro Toronto in 1955 to become a public park, and it became Edwards Gardens in 1956. Toronto Botanical Garden (formerly Civic Garden Centre) relocated into the Milne home on the site in 1959.Edwards Gardens is one of several parks located along Toronto's ravines, many of which are connected by hiking and cycling trails, and connected to the shores of Lake Ontario. The park's manicured lawns and flower beds make it a popular destination for wedding parties to take photographs. In 2013, Edwards Gardens won an Award of Excellence under the Regional Citation (New Directions) category from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects for their sustainably designed parking lot.

Research Enterprises Limited (REL for short) was a short-lived Toronto-based Crown Corporation that built electronics and optical instruments during World War II. They existed only six years from late 1940 until 1946, and were active only from late 1941, but during that period they became Leaside's largest employer, producing C$220 million worth of radar systems and optical instruments ($3,206 million in 2022). After the war, the government rapidly closed the various wartime companies it had started. After REL was closed, their factories formed the basis of a Corning Glass plant, Philips Electronics, and a variety of other firms. Today only a few of the original buildings still stand, used primarily for light industrial and small commercial enterprises.

Sunnybrook Park is a surface light rail transit stop under construction on Line 5 Eglinton, a future line that will be part of the Toronto subway system. It will be located at the intersection of Leslie Street and Eglinton Avenue. The intersection is largely surrounded by park lands in the valley of the West Branch of the Don River, which includes destinations such as E.T. Seton Park, Serena Gundy Park, Wilket Creek Park, Sunnybrook Park and Edwards Gardens. This will be the westernmost at-grade surface stop. The station is scheduled to open in 2022.The stop is located on the east side of the intersection of Leslie Street and Eglinton Avenue East. The stop has parallel side platforms. Access to the platforms is via the pedestrian crossing on the east side of the signalized street intersection.During the planning stages for Line 5 Eglinton, the stop was given the working name "Leslie", which is identical to the pre-existing Leslie station on Line 4 Sheppard. On November 23, 2015, a report to the TTC Board recommended giving a unique name to each station in the subway system (including Line 5 Eglinton). Thus, the LRT stop was renamed "Sunnybrook Park".

The Toronto Botanical Garden (TBG) is located at 777 Lawrence Avenue East at Leslie Street, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Termed "The little garden with big ideas", the TBG is nearly four acres and features 17 themed "city-sized gardens". Located in the north-east corner of Edwards Gardens, the TBG is a non-profit horticultural and educational organization with a mission to connect people, plants and the natural world through education, inspiration and leadership.

Laird is an underground light rail transit (LRT) station under construction on Line 5 Eglinton, a new line that is part of the Toronto subway system. It is located in the Leaside neighbourhood in East York at the intersection of Laird Drive and Eglinton Avenue. It is scheduled to open in 2022.This station's entrances are both on the south side of Eglinton. The main entrance is at the southwest corner of the Laird Drive intersection replacing a small strip mall and the secondary one is east of that in the Leaside Centre parking lot, just beyond the Pier 1 Imports store.On the east side of the station, there is a third track between the eastbound and westbound tracks, either to store a train or to allow a train to change direction due to an emergency or a change in service. On the west side of the station, there is a diamond crossover. Laird station is the easternmost underground station in the main tunnel; the line will emerge onto Eglinton about 250 metres (820 ft) east of Brentcliffe Drive and change to predominantly on-street operation in a dedicated right-of-way in the centre of the street east to Kennedy station. Destinations include the many commercial establishments to the southeast: Leaside Centre, the SmartCentres on Laird, and the Leaside Business Park on Eglinton. Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne officiated at the ground-breaking for the station on June 30, 2016.

The Don Mills Trail (also known as the Leaside Spur Trail) is a 3-kilometre (1.9 mi) cycling and walking trail in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The trail runs south from York Mills Road, east of and roughly parallel to Leslie Street. The city built the trail on the roadbed of a former railway line, known as the Leaside Spur. The trail is situated within the Don Mills neighbourhood of Toronto. None of the trail is within Leaside, although that was the destination of trains that used the former Leaside Spur. The Don Mills Trail is not to be confused with the Lower Don Trail, also within Toronto.

The Bridle Path is a residential neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is characterized by large multimillion-dollar mansions and two to four acre (8,000 to 16,000 m²) lot sizes. It makes up part of Bridle Path–Sunnybrook–York Mills. Often referred to as "Millionaires' Row", as of 2014 it is the most affluent neighbourhood in Canada, with an average household income of $936,137, as well as by property values with an average dwelling value of $2.24M. Although "The Bridle Path" is in fact the name of a road in the area, the term generally applies to the neighbourhood as a whole. It is bounded by The Bridle Path on the north, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on the south, Bayview Avenue on the west and Wilket Creek on the east. Few roads pass through the area, contributing to the area's exclusivity. House prices in the Bridle Path are varied, but most are well in excess of a million dollars. It is a secluded neighbourhood, surrounded by the Don River Valley and lush parklands.

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is Canada's largest children's rehabilitation hospital. It is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was founded in 1899, by a group of community-minded women who met in Toronto to discuss the creation of a "Home for Incurable Children". As of 2005, the Centre provides hospital care, outpatient clinics, an integrated kindergarten school programme, assistive technology services and community outreach activities to about 7,000 children and youth with disabilities and their families each year. The most common conditions are cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, muscular dystrophy, amputation, epilepsy, spina bifida, and cleft lip and palate, and a range of developmental disabilities including autism. It is associated with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Prior to 2006, the centre was called the Bloorview MacMillan Children's Centre. From 1957 to the mid-1980s, it was known as the Ontario Crippled Children's Centre (OCCC). Bloorview part of the hospital's name came from their former home at 192 Bloor Street East, also known as Bloorview. The MacMillan part came from Dr. Hugh MacMillan, a pathologist who became the former assistant administrator and hospitalist at the hospital after he fell ill with polio. His name was added to the hospital in 1985. Today the hospital is named for donors Susanne and Bill Holland. Bill Holland was CEO of CI Financial Corporation.Bloorview Kids Foundation is the largest foundation supporting childhood disability in Canada. The Foundation was established in 1996 to inspire community interest and raise funds in support of children and youth with disabilities at Bloorview Kids Rehab. The site of the old Bloorview Hospital on Sheppard Avenue East in North York was sold to developers, though Bloorview retains a nursery centre in Forest Hill. Since 2006, the hospital is located on 150 Kilgour Road, between Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the community of Leaside. Notable researchers at the hospital include Evdokia Anagnostou.

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC), commonly known as Sunnybrook Hospital or simply Sunnybrook, is an academic health science centre located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is the largest trauma centre in Canada and one of two trauma centres in Toronto; the other being St. Michael's Hospital. Sunnybrook is a teaching hospital, fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. The hospital is home to Canada's largest veterans centre, located in the Kilgour Wing and the George Hees Wing of the hospital, where World War II and Korean War veterans are cared for. Sunnybrook has made surgical breakthroughs in its history, including in 2015 when the world's first non-invasive opening of the blood–brain barrier was done.

E.T. Seton Park is a public park located in the North York district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The main entrance is located at 73 Thorncliffe Park Drive, with additional entrances at the junction of Don Mills Road and Gateway Boulevard North, and via the entrance to Sunnybrook Park and Wilket Creek Park near the junction of Leslie Street and Eglinton Avenue. The park is named after Ernest Thompson Seton, a British-born author and naturalist. Seton spent much of his childhood (1860 to 1870s) in the Don Valley near the park that bears his name. The Don River runs through the park, which makes it a popular spot for many activities.E.T. Seton Park adjoins Thorncliffe Park, Flemingdon Park, and the Ontario Science Centre. It contains jogging and cycling paths, an archery range, nordic skiing and equestrian trails, as well as three fire pits.The park's archery range is one of only two public ranges in Canada. It was listed as the archery location in Toronto's bid book for the 2015 Pan American Games, but was not used for that competition because vehicular access to the range was not possible. The archery event for the Pan American Games was held at Varsity Stadium on Bloor Street in downtown Toronto instead.In 2011, a disc golf centre was set up on the park's grounds.
