South Buffalo is a neighborhood that makes up the southern third of the City of Buffalo, New York. Traditionally known for its large Irish-American community, this community also has a strong presence of various other nationalities. The once-heavily industrialized district was home to many steel mills, automotive parts manufacturers, petroleum refineries, foundries, and machine shops. However, due to increasing deindustrialization and rising unemployment, the area has experienced growing problems with poverty and population decline. South Buffalo, as officially designated by the Buffalo City Council, is bordered by the town of West Seneca on the east, the City of Lackawanna on the south, Lake Erie on its western edge, and the Buffalo River on its northern border. New York State Route 16 (Seneca Street), Abbott Road, and South Park Avenue are the major streets serving South Buffalo.

Bishop Timon – St. Jude High School (formerly Bishop Timon High School) is a Roman Catholic Franciscan high school for young men administered and staffed by the Order of Friars Minor located in South Buffalo, New York. Bishop Timon High School, as it was originally known, was founded in 1946 by the Franciscan Friars.

Trocaire College is a private Roman Catholic college in Buffalo, New York. Founded in 1958 by the Sisters of Mercy, Trocaire College offers associate and bachelor's degree programs as well as one-year certificate programs and workforce development training in healthcare, business, and technology. It is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York. It has an extension site known as the Trocaire Achievement Complex located in Williamsville, New York. Total enrollment across both locations is approximately 1300 students.

The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens are botanical gardens located within South Park in Buffalo, New York, United States. These gardens are the product of landscaping architect Frederick Law Olmsted, glass-house architects Lord & Burnham, and botanist and plant-explorer John F. Cowell.

The Our Lady of Victory Basilica is a Catholic parish church and national shrine in Lackawanna, New York. Due to the multiple charities of founder Father Nelson Baker, the shrine is a popular pilgrimage and visitor destination in Lackawanna. It is part of the Diocese of Buffalo.

Lackawanna is a city in Erie County, New York, United States, just south of the city of Buffalo in western New York State. The population was 19,949 at the 2020 census. It is one of the fastest-growing cities in New York, growing in population by 10% from 2010 to 2020. It is part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area. The city of Lackawanna is in the southwestern part of Erie County. The town's name derives from the Lackawanna Steel Company. During the early 20th century, the Lackawanna steel plant was the largest in the world.

Cazenovia Creek is a creek in Western New York, United States. It is a tributary of the Buffalo River, which empties into Lake Erie. Cazenovia Creek and its watershed are entirely within Erie County.

WBBF (1120 kHz, "98.9 The Vibe") is a commercial AM radio station in Buffalo, New York. It broadcasts with a power of 1,000 watts; as a daytimer, WBBF is required to sign off at sunset. (AM 1120 is reserved for Class A clear channel station KMOX in St. Louis, Missouri.) The station is simulcast on FM translator W255DH on 98.9 FM, and airs a classic hip hop format. The station is owned by Cumulus Media.

WHTT-FM (104.1 MHz) is a commercial FM radio station in Buffalo, New York, serving Western New York. It is owned by Cumulus Media and broadcasts a classic hits format, calling itself "104.1 WHTT". The studios and offices are on James E. Casey Drive in Buffalo. WHTT has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 50,000 watts, the maximum for most of New York. It broadcasts using HD Radio technology. The transmitter is off Dorrance Avenue in West Seneca, next to Abbott Road Plaza.

West Seneca is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 44,711 at the 2010 census. West Seneca is a centrally located interior town of the county, and a suburb of Buffalo. West Seneca, Orchard Park and Hamburg form the inner "Southtowns", a cluster of middle-class suburban towns.

Tesla Giga New York (or Gigafactory 2) is a photovoltaic (PV) cell factory leased by Tesla subsidiary SolarCity in Riverbend, Buffalo, New York. The factory, owned by the State of New York, was built on brownfield land remediated from a former steel mill. Construction of the factory, rebranded as RiverBend, started in 2014 and was completed in 2016–17. In 2013, the site of Giga New York was planned as a clean energy business incubation center. As SolarCity acquired Silevo in 2014 and merged into Tesla two years later, the factory was planned. The factory, in a partnership with Panasonic, started limited assembly of photovoltaic modules in 2017 using imported Japanese PV cells. It began commercial production of modules in 2017. In 2018, SolarCity began production of individual solar cells. In late 2019 or early 2020 Tesla began commercial installation of version 3 of its "Solar Roof" product manufactured at the factory.Panasonic stopped manufacturing solar panels at the factory in 2020. The same year, Tesla began producing charging equipment for its Supercharger network at the factory, and its solar deployments grew to 205 megawatts of generating capacity. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, employment at the factory decreased in the first half of 2020, but by the end of 2021, the number of employees at the factory had increased to more than 1,460, as Tesla had promised New York State.
