Łęczyca Castle

Łęczyca Voivodeship (Polish: Województwo łęczyckie) was a unit of administrative division and local government in Poland from the 14th century until the partitions of Poland in 1772–1795. It was part of Greater Poland Province, and its capital was in Łęczyca. The voivodeship had the area of 4,080 square kilometers, divided into three counties. Local sejmiks took place at Łęczyca. The city of Łódź, which until the 19th century was a small town, for centuries belonged to Łęczyca Voivodeship.

Łęczyca County (Polish: powiat łęczycki) is a unit of territorial administration and local government (powiat) in Łódź Voivodeship, central Poland. It came into being on January 1, 1999, as a result of the Polish local government reforms in 1998. Its administrative seat and only town is Łęczyca, which lies 35 kilometres (22 mi) north-west of the regional capital Łódź. The county covers an area of 774 square kilometres (298.8 sq mi). As of 2006, its total population was 53,435, out of which the population of Łęczyca was 15,423 and the rural population was 38,012.

Łęczyca (pronounced [wɛnˈt͡ʂɨt͡sa]; in full the Royal Town of Łęczyca, Polish: Królewskie Miasto Łęczyca; German: Lentschitza; Yiddish: לונטשיץ, romanized: Lintshits, Luntshits) is a town of 13,587 inhabitants in central Poland. Situated in the Łódź Voivodeship, it is the county seat of the Łęczyca County. Łęczyca is a capital of the historical Łęczyca Land.

Gmina Łęczyca is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Łęczyca County, Łódź Voivodeship, in central Poland. Its seat is the town of Łęczyca, although the town is not part of the gmina's territory. The gmina covers an area of 150.8 square kilometres (58.2 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population was 8,549.

Łęczyca station is a railway station located in the Polish town of Łęczyca, Łódź Voivodeship. It serves mainly regional and commuter traffic between Łódź and Kutno, as well as intercity services between Gdynia and Katowice. It opened in 1925 as a part of Łódź–Kutno railway. The main building resembles mansion architecture, used among other local railway stations built around early 1920's. The station serves the branch line leading to the military base near Leżnica Wielka.

Kwiatkówek [kfjatˈkuvɛk] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Góra Świętej Małgorzaty, within Łęczyca County, Łódź Voivodeship, in central Poland. There is an open-air museum in the village (a branch of the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography in Łódź). Łęczyca Peasant Farm features a number of traditional wooden buildings, including a windmill dating back to 1820.

Borki [ˈbɔrki] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Łęczyca, within Łęczyca County, Łódź Voivodeship, in central Poland. It lies approximately 2 kilometres (1 mi) south of Łęczyca and 34 km (21 mi) north-west of the regional capital Łódź.

Topola Królewska [tɔˈpɔla kruˈlɛfska] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Łęczyca, within Łęczyca County, Łódź Voivodeship, in central Poland. It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) north of Łęczyca and 38 km (24 mi) north-west of the regional capital Łódź.

Topola Szlachecka [tɔˈpɔla ʂlaˈxɛt͡ska] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Łęczyca, within Łęczyca County, Łódź Voivodeship, in central Poland. It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) north of Łęczyca and 38 km (24 mi) north-west of the regional capital Łódź.

The Collegiate Church of St. Mary and St. Alexius (Polish: Kolegiata w Tumie) is an encastellated Romanesque church located in the village of Tum near Łęczyca, in central Poland. It was constructed out of granite blocks and sandstone in the mid-12th century. The church was built using the opus emplectum technique. It has the form of an aisled basilica with galleries, a twin-tower west façade, and two apses (west and east). It was reconstructed in the 15th, 18th and mid-20th centuries; during the latest reconstruction the church returned to its simpler Romanesque form and round turrets at the east were added. The main (north) portal is sculpted and dates back to the first half of 12th century. In 2022, the church was designated an official Polish Historic Monument.

Tum [tum] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Góra Świętej Małgorzaty, within Łęczyca County, Łódź Voivodeship, in central Poland. It lies approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) east of Łęczyca and 35 km (22 mi) north-west of the regional capital Łódź. The village has an approximate population of 600. Tum is the site of a 12th-century Romanesque Collegiate Church as well as a wooden church of Saint Nicholas from the 18th century. On the western edge of the village there are also remains of an early medieval stronghold dating back to the 6th-8th century, which fell into disuse in the 14th century, following the rise of the nearby town of Łęczyca. The stronghold, located about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) east of the late-medieval town site, was itself known as Łęczyca until then.

Leszcze [ˈlɛʂt͡ʂɛ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Łęczyca, within Łęczyca County, Łódź Voivodeship, in central Poland. It lies approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) north-west of Łęczyca and 37 km (23 mi) north-west of the regional capital Łódź.
