Aalst, North Brabant

The Aalstermolen (English: Aalster Mill) is a windmill located on the Raadhuisstraat 28A in Aalst, Waalre, in the province of North Brabant, Netherlands. Built in 1904 on an artificial hill, the windmill functioned as gristmill. The mill was built as a tower mill and its sails have a span of 25.70 meters. The mill has been a national monument (nr 38186) since 15 May 1968.

Waalre (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈʋaːlrə] (listen)) is an affluent municipality and town in the province of North Brabant in the southern Netherlands, immediately south of the city of Eindhoven.

PSV Vrouwen (or PSV Women) is a Dutch women's football (soccer) team representing PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie Vrouwen, the top women's league in the Netherlands. A founding member of the BeNe League in 2012, the team was known as PSV/FC Eindhoven and supported jointly by FC Eindhoven and PSV. Following the BeNe League's dissolution after the 2014–15 season, the team joined the Eredivisie as the women's team of PSV.

Jan Louwers Stadion (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌjɑn ˈlʌuʋərˌstaːdijɔn]) is a multi-use stadium in the Eindhoven borough of Stratum, Netherlands. Previously the stadium had a cinder track, with curved, earthen and walled standing grandstands on the north and south sides, so that attendances could still reach up to 18,000 visitors in the 1970s. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of FC Eindhoven. The stadium is able to hold 4,200 people. The stadium is named after Jan Louwers. Jong PSV used to use it as their backup stadium.

The Eindhoven Water Towers in Eindhoven, Netherlands, were designed by W.G. Quist (Chief Government Architect of the Netherlands, 1974–1979) and built in 1970. In the late sixties the older water tower on Elschot Willemlaan proved to be inadequate. Due to its lack of capacity and general deterioration, the tower could no longer meet the growing demand. Thus it was decided that a new one should be constructed at the Anthony Coolenlaan, around the corner from the existing tower and the water company headquarters.The structure consists of three spherical tanks, each standing on its own 43.45 m (142.6 ft) spire. Each tank is 10 m (33 ft) in diameter, capable of holding 500 cubic meters of water (132.086 US gallons). The innovative design of three tank-towers together created the largest water tower complex in the Netherlands.

Stratum is a former village in the Dutch province of North Brabant, now one of the seven boroughs of Eindhoven. Stratum was a separate municipality until 1920, when it became part of Eindhoven. It was centered on the south gate of Eindhoven, before the industrial age. Most of Stratum's neighbourhoods were built between 1920 and 1950.

The Philips Natuurkundig Laboratorium (English translation: Philips Physics Laboratory) or NatLab was the Dutch section of the Philips research department, which did research for the product divisions of that company. Originally located in the Strijp district of Eindhoven, the facility moved to Waalre in the early 1960s. A 1972 municipal rezoning brought the facility back into Eindhoven, which was followed some years later by Eindhoven renaming the street the facility is on into the Prof. Holstlaan, after the first director.In 1975, the NatLab employed some 2000 people, including 600 researchers with university degrees. Research done at the NatLab has ranged from product-specific to fundamental research into electronics, physics and chemistry, as well as computing science and information technology. The original NatLab facility was disbanded in 2001 and the facility has been transformed into the High Tech Campus Eindhoven, which is open to researchers from many different companies. Philips Research is still one of the largest campus tenants, although not with anything like the number of people employed in the NatLab days. Philips Research also has branches in Germany, the United Kingdom, United States, India and China; the non-Netherlands parts of Philips Research account for about half the research work done by Philips nowadays.

De Treeswijkhoeve is a restaurant in Waalre in the Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in the period 2006–2012. The restaurant has been awarded two Michelin stars since 2013.GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 18 out of 20 points in 2014.Head chef of De Treeswijkhoeve is Dick Middelweerd. The restaurant became a member of the Alliance Gastronomique Néerlandaise in 2003.De Treeswijkhoeve is housed in a 1916-built farmhouse, formerly belonging to the Estate Treeswijkhoeve. In 1988, the parents-in-law of Dick Middelweerd, bought the farmhouse and started the restaurant. Middelweerd himself joined the restaurant in 1991, as head chef. Together with his wife Anne-Laura, he bought the restaurant in 2000.

The High Tech Campus Eindhoven is a high tech center and R&D ecosystem on the Southern edge of the Dutch city of Eindhoven. In 2016, the High Tech Campus is home to more than 140 companies and institutions, comprising over 10,000 product developers, researchers and entrepreneurs and an estimated 85 nationalities. The Financial Times, Fortune, Forbes and others have praised the High Tech Campus Eindhoven (HTCE) as one of the best locations in the world for high-tech venture development and startup activity. As such, the HTCE is an innovation district, a targeted area with a huge potential for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Watermill at Gennep (Dutch: Genneper Watermolen) is a watermill along the river Dommel, located on the Genneperweg 143 in Gestel, Eindhoven, in the province of North Brabant, Netherlands. First mentioned in the 13th century, the watermill burned down and was rebuilt in 1587. Vincent van Gogh lived nearby and made several paintings while in the area, including four paintings of the mill in 1884. The watermill was listed as a national monument in 1972.

The Eindhoven Museum is an archaeological open-air museum in Eindhoven, Netherlands, focusing on the Iron Age and Middle Ages in the province of North Brabant. The museum is situated in the Genneper Parken area at the south side of the city. It focuses on the daily lives and routines of people in the time periods mentioned, through demonstrations and recreations of buildings, practices and routines. For example, there are demonstrations of cooking on open fire, of games played in the Middle Ages and groups of school children are allowed to spend the night in the stables. The museum has several distinct target audiences. Primary among these are school children, who comprise most of the visitors on weekdays. In the weekends and during holiday season the museum focuses on regular tourists. The museum features a lot of living history exhibits as well as semi-historical reenactments. During holiday seasons extra activities are staged for children. The museum also arranges historically themed corporate and family outings outside of opening hours. Some 60.000 people visited the museum in 2005.

The Tongelreep is a small tributary of the Dommel that flows through Belgium and the Netherlands. It begins in Belgium near Neerpelt (where the stream is called the Warmbeek) and runs into the Dommel in Eindhoven by way of Valkenswaard and Aalst. The stream runs near the Achel Abbey, the Leenderbos, the Valkenhorst estates and the Genneper Parken park area. The Tongelreep has always remained a relatively naturally flowing, clear river with natural interaction between water and landscape; this despite the fact that man has tried to alter the river bed since the Middle Ages, the stretch to the west of the current Leenderbos was canaled in 1890 in order to create a series of fishing ponds and the stretch to the south of that was canaled by the Achel Abbey monks before that. The natural character of the southern Tongelreep has been returning since 1989, when the Achel Abbey agricultural activities were ceased and the lands were sold to environmental groups, who are restoring the natural flow of the river. The grassy lands of the Warmbeek valleys are also being restored.
