Ngamuwahine River

The Opuiaki River is a river of the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows north from the Mamaku Plateau into Lake McLaren, to reach the Wairoa River 15 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Tauranga.The river contributes to the Kaimai hydro power scheme built in the 1980s. A dam was built uphill from where the Ngatuhoa Lodge is now. From the dam a tunnel was dug, which channels the water into the Ngatuhoa Stream, where it enters just above another dam built there. Provisions are made to maintain some flow in both streams. Digging the tunnel was a challenging operation due to the geology of the area, formed by volcanic activity from various volcanoes, with clay and other sediment in between. Artesian waters also flow between the layers of rock and contribute to the flow of the streams in the area. Te Rere I Oturu Falls are on the Opuiaki River, with the coordinates of 37° 55' 34.89" S 175° 59' 55.38" E. The name is based on a legend about a member of the Ngāti Ranginui tribe. His name was Oturu and while being pursued by members of his tribe, he jumped from the falls. The falls are about 25 metres (82 ft) wide and 40 metres (130 ft) high. The Opuiaki river is mainly rain-fed and the flow can change rapidly during and immediately after a downpour. The falls can be reached via hiking tracks starting at the Ngatuhoa Lodge. A gravel forestry road runs past at some distance, from where a hiking track leads to the falls. The river runs through, and is part of, the Opuiaki Ecological Area, created for the protection of native flora and fauna. The Department of Conservation (DOC) carries out pest control and breeding programs, including for the kōkako, an endangered native bird species.

The Mangapapa River is a river of the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island. It rises on the north slopes of the Mamaku Plateau at the southern end of the Kaimai Range and meets the Opuiaki River at the head of Lake McLaren, which discharges to the Wairoa River a short distance downstream from the lake at the confluence with the Mangakarengorengo River. The river has been modified as part of the Kaimai hydro power scheme. The 15.6 MW Lloyd Mandeno Power Station is on the left bank of the river and discharges water diverted from other nearby streams. About 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) below this is a concrete arch dam with the 6.25 MW Lower Mangapapa Power Station.

McLaren Falls is a settlement in the Western Bay of Plenty District and Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island.

The Kaimai hydro power scheme is a hydroelectric power scheme on the Wairoa River in the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand. The scheme is operated by TrustPower. It has four operational power stations, and formerly the McLaren Falls Station which was decommissioned in 1989 following the commissioning of the Ruahihi Station.

The Omanawa Falls Power Station is a run of the river hydroelectric facility on the Omanawa River, in the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand. Built in 1915 to supply electricity to the town of Tauranga, it was the Southern Hemisphere's first underground power station.

The Omanawa River is a river of the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island. The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "place of Manawa" for Ōmanawa.An important tributary of the Wairoa River it flows north from the northern edge of the Mamaku Plateau, through a valley to enter a 122 m (400 ft) long narrow gorge through which the river flows in a series of rapids before 11.3 km (7.0 mi) above the confluence with the Wairoa the river drops 35 metres over the Omanawa Falls. At the base of the falls is a large deep pool approximately 100 metres in diameter. At the back and under the lip of the falls, the river has hollowed out a huge cavern. To one side of the falls is the Omanawa Falls Power Station which is powered by water diverted around the falls. The Omanawa joins the Wairoa River about 9.7 km (6.0 mi) from its mouth and 10 km (6.2 mi) southwest of Tauranga.

Kopurererua is a rural community in the upper valley of the Kopurererua Stream in the Western Bay of Plenty District and Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island. The lower Kopurererua valley is in Tauranga.

The Tauranga Volcanic Centre is a geologic region in New Zealand's Bay of Plenty. It extends from the southern end of Waihi Beach and from the old volcanoes of the Coromandel Peninsula that make up the northern part of the Kaimai Range, towards the Taupō Volcanic Zone.

ACG Tauranga is a private coeducational day school located on the outskirts of Tauranga, New Zealand. The school is owned and operated by Auckland-based private education company ACG Schools (formerly known as Academic Colleges Group).The school opened at the beginning of the 2015 school year, and initially offered places for Year 1-9 students. It now offers education from preschool-Year 13. It is the first private school in Tauranga since Tauranga Rudolf Steiner School integrated into the state system in March 2005. It is the latest of Academic Colleges Group's 10 schools, whose New Zealand schools are members of Independent Schools of New Zealand (ISNZ). Thea Kilian is the current principal, transferring from her role as Deputy Principal from Auckland's Long Bay College.

Tauriko is a suburb of Tauranga, in the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island. According to Place Names of New Zealand by A. W. Reed and Peter Dowling, "Tauriko" is not a Māori name—the suburb was originally named Taurico after the Tauranga Rimu Company, with the spelling apparently altered to give the semblance of a Māori name.
