The Madrid Deep Space Communications Complex (MDSCC), in Spanish and officially Complejo de Comunicaciones de Espacio Profundo de Madrid, is a satellite ground station located in Robledo de Chavela, Spain, and operated by the Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial (INTA). Part of the Deep Space Network (DSN) of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), along with its two sister stations at Goldstone, California and Canberra, Australia it is used for tracking and communicating with NASA's spacecraft, particularly interplanetary missions. The DSN and the Near Space Network (NSN) are services of the NASA Space Communications and Navigation program (SCaN).

Valdemorillo is a Spanish town and municipality located in the Community of Madrid. San Lorenzo de El Escorial, also known as El Escorial de Arriba, is a town and municipality in the Community of Madrid, Spain, located to the northwest of the region in the southeastern side of the Sierra de Guadarrama, at the foot of Mount Abantos and Las Machotas, 47 kilometres (29 mi) from Madrid. It is head of the eponymous judicial party. The settlement is popularly called El Escorial de Arriba, to differentiate it from the neighbouring village of El Escorial, also known as El Escorial de Abajo. The Monastery of El Escorial is the most prominent building in the town and is one of the main Spanish Renaissance monuments. Especially remarkable is the Royal Library, inside the Monastery. The monastery and its historic surroundings were declared a World Heritage Site UNESCO on November 2, 1984, under the name of "El Escorial, monastery and site". The site also enjoys protection on Spain's heritage register; since June 21, 2006, it has been protected by the Community of Madrid as a Property of Cultural Interest. San Lorenzo de El Escorial is located on the southern slopes of the Mount Abantos (elevation 1753 m). The average altitude of the municipality is 1,032 metres (3,386 ft), and most of the urban area is above 1,000 metres (3,300 ft). The hamlet initially sprang up around Monastery of El Escorial, gradually extending up the mountain. In the 20th and 21st centuries, the town underwent a strong urban expansion, particularly towards the southeastern side of Mount Abantos.

The Academia de Suboficiales de la Guardia Civil (ASGC, English: Academy of NCOs of the Civil Guard) is a training center belonging to the Guardia Civil. It is located in San Lorenzo de El Escorial (Madrid), where training is given in security, technical and military subjects for enlisted personnel joining the non-commissioned officers of the Civil Guard. The ASGC was opened in 2018. The students of the ASGC are granted, on an eventual basis, and for the sole academic, internship and remuneration purposes, the rank of Sergeant. The standard course for promotion to Sergeant is 9 months, and the average experience of embtrants to the course is 8 years. Since its opening there has been a reduction in applicants to the academy, with over 1,000 fewer applicants in 2019 than when the academy opened.

Navas del Rey is located in a transition zone between the Sierra de Guadarrama and Sierra de Gredos . To the north the municipality borders the village of Robledo de Chavela, east to the towns of Chapinería and Colmenar del Arroyo, south to Aldea del Fresno and west Pelayos Dam and San Martin de Valdeiglesias . Along with other municipalities make up what is called the Commonwealth of Pinares, through which are channeled much of the initiatives from the various municipalities that are grouped in this commonwealth .
